Mikado aka “Big Mike”

My favorites would be as follows:

Berkshire
Pacific
Prairie
“The BIG ENGINE”, PRR S-1 6100 (6-4-4-6)

Now remember this is a question about favourite names, not favourite loco’s.

So there I was at my favourite hobby shop at the time, and I asked the guys - “say, what’s a Climax.” Well you could have heard the laughter for a mile. Says they, slapping their thighs, “he doesn’t know what a Climax is.”

Rick,

We’ve got to ask – which “hobby” [?][?]

[:D][:D][:D][:D]

I’ve alway liked “Decapod” a ten-legged insect that crawls around the layout.

CLIMAX! [;)]

Have to say Western Maryland 4-8-4’s…POTOMAC.

Or maybe EBT’s “Millie”.

It really doesn’t matter what you call it, if it’s steam it’s good enough!

From the U.S. you can’t beat “Mikado”, it sounds mysterious. But my all time favorite comes from England, “The Flying Scotsman”. Not really a specific type of locomotive, but a romantic name none the less.

GN 2-8-2 Mikado

Royal Hudson, you can’t get any more regal than that!!!
