Yukon to Dease Lake, B.C.

I heard talk of a rail line being built from somewhere in the Yukon to Dease Lake, B.C. and from there to Fort St. James, B.C.

B.C. Rail built a rail bed to Dease Lake but never got past Fort St. James, B.C. Can someone fill me in if anything is being done about it?

Try searching for the “arctic rails” site via google…see also the White Pass & Yukon thread going on currently on this fine forum…

A BC/Alaska rail connection has been one of those things that crops up every ten years or so. BC Rail has a graded roadbed to Dease Lake, and if commodity prices continue to rise, it could be built on (not holding my breath though). At one point about a dozen years ago, someone proposed a BC/Alaska/Siberia rail link using a tunnel under the Bering Straight. Another neat-o pipe dream.
