Hello everyone, i am looking for some help with a point to point around the room switching shelf style layout. i currently have 2’ wide constructed around the walls of my 12’x20’ room. i have basically a big “U” shaped bench top that i had constructed for my past N scale layout, yes i got out of N scale and back into HO, i just couldn’t get into the smaller stuff due to aging eyes…anyways, instead of watching trains run in circles i want to focus more on spotting and switching cars, industrial and somehow incorporate an old branch line into all of it. my era of interest is mainly the Conrail days so i don’t plan on running new 6 axle locos except maybe some SD-40’s and 50’s…i am willing to actually pay someone to help me with the design, i love model railroading and have messed with it for the last 40 years or so but i have never been able to design any type of layout that was operational. now i am getting to the age where less is better to me…i’m not doing mountains so my bench work will basically be flat. if anyone is willing to gimme a hand at designing something thats actually operational i would be forever greatful…Thanks everyone!

Here’s an old thread, most of the links still work, which should give you some ideas.
