2008 [PART 2] and the Coffee Pot is still on and now 4 years old. Here we gather as friends with trains. Sweet ice tea too.

Had to do some running around after work, so didn’t get to mow the lawn. No word from Sir James yet?

I couldn’t remember the name of the train that ran thu India. Palace on wheels??? Beautiful architecture.

Kurt

Kurt,

Len Carparelli wrote an excellent article for CTT in 2000, and he explained the striping process. The stripes were applied by an inked metal block that had the stripes raised above the surface. Reproduction stripe and lettering decals are available in adhesive or water slide varieties. While your working on cosmetics, replace the headlight lenses and buff the paint. The original lenses in mine were yellowed badly, and the new lenses make the GG1 look much better. I used a soft, clean rag to buff the paint, and it really brought the gloss back. You won’t regret your purchase. I bought my 2332 for $268 plus $31 for parts. It was worth every penny. If you have any questions, I am more than happy to help any way I can.

Another beautiful day here, but what we need is rain. Probably show up for Friday nights HS football opener. [;)]

Spent most of the day on my doll house project. Experimenting with printing out some stone paper to wrap the chimneys, using Model Builder Software.

Tomorrow is TCA Museum day.

Got MR and Trains today, checked them both out, but did not read in detail.

Talking about fancy trains, I read somewhere that they are going to put Saddam Hussein personal train back in service as a passenger train.

Here is the short article:

August 20, 2008

BAGHDAD - Iraqi Railway officials are preparing to return to service the luxury train that deposed dictator Saddam Hussein called his own, the Associated Press has reported. The train should be back in service next month.

Hussein rode the French-built train only once, in the late 1970s, and it’s been kept in a secret Baghdad location to protect it from looting following the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

The 23-car train will be used to move passengers between Baghdad and Basra.

Hello again, Just had to put post #2000 on the Coffee Pot.

The other coffee pot that some of us visit from time to time is down again for repair. Hope they soon get it up and running.

Good night.

GOOD EVENING

Sir james is here, head in hand, more meds trying to fight sinus infection meds making me feel light headed. Doc says last chance to beat this, if not off to specialist. Doc appointment was early morning so my friend and I went to Wild Bills for awhile but lucky for me no new items have arrived since my last visit. Nap and couch all afternoon. been up since five pm news though. I’m ready for the Tardis but no loop-d-loops tonite. Banilla ready come on by…S.J.

Sir J - hope you feel better soon!

Hey, big congrats John on 2000 posts! How many stars is that?

I was just upstairs running my Lionel Dockside locomotive in convential mode before I rip out its guts and put in TAS TMCC and Whistle Controler. So just to see what it could do, I hooked it up to a mix of boxcars and tank cars, twelve(12) cars in all. It moved the consist very easily so then I started it up my 2 percent grade. Cranked up the power and it pulled it easily up the grade!! I was astonished!!! Lionel Dockside for a engine less than $100 seems to be a great buy. Maybe I’ll change my mind after I run it two or three years.

docksiders do pull well, and great smokers too. I like running two of them together.

I’ve got 4 docksiders all together - great little engines! TARDIS is ready and I see a couple beacons are on, so I’ll wish you all a good night. God bless us all.

IT RAINED!!! Big time here. Most did not get what we got. Red on the radar right over Rosyville. Just finished watching a great movie and funny too. Dan In Real Life on Starz. Had several replies but slipped the old mind. Buckeye, had planned to install and Electric RR TMCC unit in a Plymouth switcher. Hope that works too. Had a busy day. Phone calls all morning and then getting office in new building arranged and pictures on the wall. Last minute errand to Lowes to get bird feed and etc. Now to bed.

Good night. Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite.

Good late evening all.

‘watching’ the Phils/Mets game on ESPN.com and decided to hop over here to see what’s going on.

I see Kurt bought a fixer upper GG1. I’m actually eyeing one up at my LHS that has TMCC for under 3 bens. Not sure yet, depends on if my stuff sells.

Not much going on here. Just busy with the new job and trying to get my bimmer’s maintenance completed. Did the oil change tonight and replaced the front brakes. Rears get done on Thursday then next month it is Struts/Shocks and springs…

Hope everyone is doing well.

Morning!

Listening to the morning freight passing in the distance.

JimTrumpie: Thanks for the tips! All the GG1’s I have seen have dingy lenses…did you add LED’s to the headlights? Seems like the lens discoloration is caused by heat.

Buckeye & Chief: Can’t wait to see the TMCC upgades! That was my first choice.

Sir James: Get better already. Sheesh. Brutus doesn’t do any stuntflying.

Brent: Pull the trigger! TMCC and 2-operating couplers…That’ll be one FUN switcher!

Doug: I saw a show on Trolleys the other day on RFD! Old…Old…Riding in the front seat thru Coney Island, and Brooklyn lines. Didn’t make it thru the 1-hour show…kids…just Trolleys, and music. Can’t tell you what it was, the TV titles never match the actual video titles.

jefelectric: Congratulations on the j2k!

Brutus: I owe you a call…you in today?

Kurt

Hi GIZ,

JELECTRIC, BIG CONGA on the 2 K.

Have a good one,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill…

It is a rainy 70 degrees. Going to rain all day. We needed it badly. Up to 75 degrees.

Today is the usual day, that I drive to Cambridge for groceries. It will be a wet one. Gas is at $3.54 here. That’s still way too high.

Ran trains yesterday afternoon. Has a little work to do on the FP-45. Light burned out. Gave it a lub too. That engine is a good puller.

Dining car is here and it’s breakfast time.

Y’all have a great Wednesday.

Chuck

Kurt,

No, it still has the original bulbs in it. I might look into the LED option though.

Brent,

That sounds like a very good deal.

Morning all. Sunny and cool again. Fixed up the airship hovering over Baker Field last night. It was a little droopy.

Kurt, that sounds like a great show! I have to search for it. I’m amazed at what I uncover in ATT’s version of TV when I search for Trolleys, Trains, Toy Trains, etc. though I can pass on the specials for ‘Lionel’ Ritchie which keep popping up.

Cooltech, since it’s been so dark lately when I’ve gotten up to go to work, I’m impressed at how bright Jupiter is still in the sky.

John, congratulations on 2,000 posts. Wow, that’s a lot of typing.

Sir J, get better soon. We’ll save the banilla for you somewhere in the Tardis. There’s gotta be a refrigerator in that thing.

Morning all. Raining. Much needed rain in Charlotte [10 inces in some places and flooding, they were in extreme drought]. Now it is raining hard here. Will take all the Lord gives. Turnips should love it. Off to meetings and then home [I hope]. Later

There is a webcam that focuses on the Eastern end of the platform at Union Station in Erie, PA. Do a search on LogisticsPlus to find the site. The Eastbound Lake Shore Limited is due in Erie at 7:54 A.M. Monday it arrived with FIVE units. The fifth looked like one of the CABBAGE units but the roof was partly cut away and there were two white dome stuctures in the space. Has anyone seen this unit? Today there were three superliners being dead headed East.

GOOD MORNING ALL

Cool for this time of year, the plants think fall is coming and have stopped growing. Lack of rain could also be part of it. looks like maybe low 80s through next week. No plans for today so I will stay around the house and couch unless something unexpected comes along. I gave my friend a Lionel 8142 engine to clean up for me told him I was planning to sell it, I got it back yesterday all shiny and looking new. Oh boy I just wanted it cleaned up. Now it looks too nice to sell, but its going to the Nov. show anyway.

Have a great wednesday, especially Brutus its his anniversary…S.J.
