Fife - you forget… FifeyWifey posted pics from VT, so the fellas already know how you like 'em! [;)] BTW… forgot to mention… its a no go this month… but she got really good news at the clinic today for this month. [:)] Now that you mention doing Saturday instead of Friday for York, that just may work. I can bank the vacation day and spend the day doing the show and then railfanning! Think I may pass that one by the event coordinator to see how it sounds to her. [:-^] By then she’ll probably be so sick of me (we’re going to Alabama for a wedding the weekend prior) that she’ll be happy to see me go!
RT and JF - thanks for the heads up! I’m going to wait till York and see what I can find, then if I can’t find it there I’ll give the NY chap a call.
JF - I will photoshop anything I have the source files for! [tup]
Wes - let’s try for something on Thursday. SusieQ said we couldn’t be there till around 8 or so IF she tags along, so if no other significant others will be attending I think I’ll leave her alone in the woods that night! [:O] She’ll have to wait till Buckeye makes to MD again to meet Spanky. [#dots]
WES…What are you doing?! I’m starting to tally up the amount of Chocolate Buckeyes we are going to need to bring to York and it is staggering! Fifedog will want two or three boxes and I owe a box to Susieq [angel] since 88 [}:)] might show up. Luckily, I haven’t heard that anybody from NC is showing up. He always needs a dozen boxes. [:)] Then he rolls them in grits. Yech!!!
As of today “Hell Week” is finally over. The better half was hosting her Bunco Group last night so the honey-do list was quite extensive. All of them got done but the roughest was yesterday, started cooking at 4am and finished up just in time to have everything on the counter & ready to eat at 6pm. I swear, when I redo this kitchen #1 on the list is a double oven. [|(]
RT- Hang in there guy.
Roger- I’m gonna echo some of the other comments, Pictures Please.
Buckeye- Look on the brite side when it comes to the chocolate. Just think what a mess it would be if I came and had to bring California Avacado guacomole. [:o)]
No train news today, so just dropped in to say HOWDY. Brutus come on by, theres some banilla but I need to restock. Lots of A&W root beer though. TTFN…S.J.
Supposed to be flank steak, man! Sirloin is too dry. [dinner]
70 degrees after the big storm last night. No tornados, but sirens were scary for kids. Jack, we have decided to postpone Disney another year so that we can “do it right” and not break the bank. We’re finishing the basement and other stuff and do need to pay off some bills. Kurt, did you ever post any pics of the GG1?
I’m running late due to mowing the lawn after work tonight, so I’ll just say good night and the Tardis will be along shortly, so turn on beacons. Sir James, I have some Pee-Can pie my wife bought me, so I’ll share a little piece to make up for all that peach pie! [;)]
Mike - I am with you on 24 hour weather radar. Here in N Texas it can be really handy!
Chief - having been fighting fire ants for many years - those granules do not kill them in a day - they just move to another area. I found running a stream of water to flood the mound does the same thing.
Brent - York - dinner - Starlite Diner just east of 30 & Carlisle Ave.
Doug & Jack - my kids never remember at 9 pm they have a test the next day - more like 11 pm…[banghead]
Fifer - nothing like a toy train nut telling the real RRs how to park a train - did you show them where the fiber pin was in the outside rail?
DougdaG - looks like for some here guacamole is the other Grits!
It is a cool 49 degrees. Foggy. Sun is trying to break thru. Going up to 75 today with sunshine. Looks like a nice day.
Today is the day that I drive up to Cambridge to do the weekly shopping. Gas prices have stayed about $3.49. Food prices have continued to go up. But, coffee dropped 2 dollars a can. Hmmm…
No time for trains today. This weekend will be train time.
Dining car has arrived and it’s breakfast time. Later.
Sounds good. I can be in York around 7. I think it best to not include SusieQ as she is usually asleep by 8 - 8:30. I’m not familiar with any of the eateries in York other than Isaac’s so if someone else can make a recommendation that would be helpful. Or… if you want to do earlier, we could meet half way and do dinner in the Timmonium area (near where Fife lives). But we’ll leave that up to the ones driving the furthest.
Fife - Looks like Saturday is a go! [tup] Works better for me because I can save the vacation day and I’m not really looking for anything specific so I won’t be pressed to make it through all the halls. I could meet you in Timmonium and we can all ride together if that works?
… After rereading the last day’s posts…
What happened to Roger?
Looks like Chief fell asleep in the recliner and didn’t wake up for his obligatory late night post.
Rock: I expect to do some work on these old girls. And you’re right…I do find the work relaxing. This one just had me stumped. Something new every day. With each project I am always amazed at the engineering that went into these. Very simple solutions, and built solid.
RT: [(-D]
Brutus: No photos posted yet…the GG-1 is in about a dozen pieces, including the e-unit in pieces. Made a parts list yesterday. Need to call today and order the parts. Looks like the lamp holders are supposed to be part of the sheet metal assembly, and not available seperate, so I’m leaning toward building LEDs. Starting over with the wiring. What would you like to see?
It is clear and cool in SE Indiana with temps near 70 today. “My” soccer girls got pounded again 3-0. There are times I wish my job was closer and I got off work earlier so I could coach the team. We are 0-5-1 and we should have won at least three games by now with the talent we have. I go to the practices and help where I can. I know the coaches work hard and the girls work hard, but the results are just not there. I ran the 318E last night for a half hour with NO pileups. I picked up sticks in the yard and the wife and I went for a walk. I did a little Second Life. Work was great yesterday and I got an e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend, which is always a bright spot to my day. I switched back to the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning. I did not have to drive today so I got some extra shuteye on the way to work. I hope everyone has a good day.
While in the dining car this morning I was watching “Good Morning America” and see that they will be starting a series that will be broadcast from Amtrak. I think it’s title is “50 States in 50 Days”, didn’t know Amtrak did all 50, especially Alaska and Hawaii. From what I gather it has to do with the political campaign, or is it camPAIN.
Roger…If you live in Buckeyeland it is camPAIN. A DVR is a must for every citizen of Ohio so we don’t need to watch every 15 second campaign ad.
Good Morning America will have a difficult time riding AMTRAK through South Dakota and of course Amtrak misses Columbus, the largest city in the Western Hemisphere without rail service.
88 - Does Susieq like yellow or red roses?
When you guys decide on Thursday night, please let Wes or I know the address of the place.
Chuck…Gas is at $ 3.69 in the big city due to the impending doom and gloom forcasted for the Texas coast. I’m telling ya, those rigs in the Gulf are designed for big storms. When was the last time you heard of one disappearing off the face of the earth due to a hurricane?
Big fund raiser today. It is sorta like the ones the Chief attends, but we wear shoes.
Sunny and cool but going into the 70s. Going to do some shopping this morning.Finished CTT but no train plans at the moment. BRUTUS- I will eat your p-can pie but I prefer p-con pie. Thanks it was good…S.J.
