2008 [PART 2] and the Coffee Pot is still on and now 4 years old. Here we gather as friends with trains. Sweet ice tea too.

Good morning coffee pot[:D]

RT, are you still looking for a good diet plan? Weight loss improves overall health, heart problems, high blood presure and circulatory problems run in my family and was a factor in my decision to get serious about losing the excess pounds.

88 - We may meet at Tom’s (Timonium) before heading Nawth. Not sure how he wants to go yet, since he will be toting choo-choos. I personally want to be there when the halls open at 9. Not “needing” anything either, but it’s a long way 'til April… Fall colors should be nice along the Susguehanna by that time. May the sun shine. (fingers crossed)

Roy - Funny how we give no consideration to the cars, trucks, schoolbusses that wait perenially on our layouts…Plasticville people tend to be a pretty patient lot.

Another recent RR incident…never “trip” on PCP and walk “into the light”…it may be an oncoming DASH9-CW44!!! [D)][B)]

Morning all. Sunny and cool again this morning - fall has fallen here in Illinois where we aren’t seeing any political ads either - guess they think the state will vote for one of its own… Gas jumped to $4.09 yesterday. I could see them changing the signs from 3.99 as I drove down our main strip. Guess it is ‘fear of Ike’. Ran trains last night for the longest time in months. It felt great - restored the soul.

Morning all. Actually went to bed early last night. Meeting, haircut and meeting today. Back late this afternoon. Spitting rain off and on. Want to go to Sears and get new compressor, 19.2V drill driver [like I have now] and etc for the Lake House shop. Craftsman Club sale is on till the 13th. Chat later.

Good morning,

A little overcast, still feeling some far reaching effects of hurricane Ike. According to the weather channel no other storms out in the Atlantic ocean or in the tropics right now.

Cut the grass while it was windy yesterday, did not have to get as sweaty as usual.

Got Historic Rails catalog the other day and may order some stuff from there. Also signed up for Dearfield Beach FL train show in October, no membership fees.

Waiting to see what holiday pay actually is in paycheck this friday.

Lee F.

Good Mornin’, ya’ll,

Nearly got wacked in my car twice yesterday. In the first incident, during rush hour crawl, a guy going the opposite way rear ended stopped traffic, and both vehicles wound up in my lane…margin of error, 3 feet. In the second, while I was coasting to a red light at 1 AM with scant traffic, a guy elected to borrow my lane versus slamming into the one and only car stopped for the light…margin of error 3 feet. Sometimes I wish I was a state trooper or a police officer so I could dish out some justice to brain dead folks driving 3,500 pound weapons oblivious to the lives of others. [soapbox]

Re the guacamole discussion, those comparing avocados and guacamole to grits suffer from what we have here in MA…a dearth of decent Mexican restaurants.

RT…does that link you provided yesterday suggest I should be drinking more beer or less?

Chief…how are the doggies getting along?

Read DougM ($4.09 IL) and Chuck’s ($3.49 OH) comments about the gas prices. Lowest major brand prices here for 87 @ $3.50. Ever notice how the pricing between the grades of fuel fluctuate so radically? Price gap here between 87 and 89 runs about $.20 per gallon but only $.10 between 89 and a premium grade? What’s with that?

Brent…[:)] [tup] [tup] [tup] on Su

Jack,

I am not quite sure what it is. The passes are not sharp, they can’t finish a shot, and they don’t charge the net on a shot. The defense is fairly good but one or two lapses are killers when the offense does not generate any scores. 18 to 18 they can play with anybody, but in the “area” is where they get hurt. Thanks for the comments.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

RockIsland - YORK is where I escape to and forget all that law & order yada-yada. I whip out the loud clothes, the occasional bunny ears, and really let my hair down.

You wished… [(-D]

Afternoon All:

Beautiful late summer day here on the east end, and for that matter even more beautiful since it is AFTER Labor Day. My daily commute of 2 short ferry rides each way is also easier post Labor Day, it’s interesting, we still have tons of tourists around, but they are a less annoying, and smarter bunch than what we have during the “peak” of the season. I say smarter, as it seems to throw people through a loop that they have to take a ferry to get to and through Shelter Island. There is no bridge people just deal with it!

That said, I had some train time yesterday, and finally gave my new-to-me Railking Chessie System A-A set some track time. Nice smooth runner and the battery did not have to be charged (yeah) ! Then I started to feel ambitious and planned to install and wire another new-to-me purchase, a K-Line (marx) double track signal bridge. With that plan in mind, I reached for my trusty Craftsman Power Drill, took the battery out of the charger, plugged it into the base, and yes, NO POWER. It seems that the charger died on the vine, and the drill can not be plugged in to operate. I hope that Sears sells replacement chargers, or this drill is destined for the landfill.

For now the search is one for a manual drill that I have somewhere.

Ken

This is a “Must Do” per Karen if we ever get back to York.

Gas went from $3.49 to $3.79 overnight in my neck of the woods. Can you imagine if something actually does happen?

After Fifey posted his “######WMBO” comment, I wasn’t surprised by the “Top Heavy” comment. Maybe Wifey should post a comment on Fifey’s … um, nevermind. lol

RE: “######WMBO”, You will have to look it up yourself, I’m not that brave to repost it.

Now THAT WAS FUNNY!!!

Still love you law -n- order guys, reguardless…[(-D]

Afternoon from raining NC. Was suppsoe to drizzzle off and on. It has poured off and on.

Roy, the Spectracide stuff [“something” and Done] kills them in a few hours. No joke. Never seen them so hungry for the granduls. They come rushing out and make big tunnels to take it below. In a few hours, you can dig up the nest. It says wait 24. I’ve seen a bird sitting on top of a mound within 4 hours and nothing bothering him.

Rock, dogs are playing. The old lab runs around like a new puppy and they play chase. Usually Lucky is running circles at 90 mile per hour around Burg. Then suddenly she gets to close and he rolls her over. Once in a while there is a 'yap" from Burg putting her in her place.

Lake House closing is 11:30 AM Thursday 18th. Lawyer’s assistant and I talked. Will be glad when that happens.

Later

Buckeye - Red… in her eyes roses of any other color are an abomination.

Jack - She gets chocolates and roses on a regular basis. I don’t remember where the roses from Buckeye came from… probably because Susieq asked one night ‘who ‘Spanky’ is’ while I was reading the board… Susieq likes the picture of Buckeye with his childhood puppy.

Fife - keep me posted on meeting… do you know where the Starlite Diner is located? It appears to be a highly regarded establishment in York.

Chief fell asleep early? [:O] Mayorial duties must be quite tiring…

Greg - how’s the job hunt?

Brent - Same old same old.

If anyone is still looking for the CTT 20th Anniversary Atlas car or the delivery truck, there are still some available according to todays CTT newsletter.

Here is a Link

May I suggest making a Coffee Pot Part 3?

Grayson, I have suggested that the coffee pot be broken up by month. Hasn’t happened yet.

Ken, I’ve bought replacement parts and batteries too for my craftsman drill on ebay - let me keep using it for an extra couple years so far, beyond when the original batteries I had failed and the charger was not charging right, etc.

Kurt - just any pictures, I’m always interested to see stuff like this, before - during - after!

Started negotiating for floor space in the basement for my layout… Kids want the whole play room and wife wants the whole bedroom, but I think things will work out. After all, I’m the man with tools [;)]

NPR was doing a feature story about York PA as I was coming home tonight, pretty interesting although I’m not sure there was any real point to it?

Good evening all,

Actually you need not suggest a part three, when this one is full they lock it down and we start again.

Grocery shopping today, had trouble driving home, could not see with so many tears in my eyes. Over $10.00 for Maxwell house coffee? whats with that? Reg gas went from$3.65 to $3.86 yet oil prices have dropped to just over a hundred a barrel. My latest “bay” purchase arrived today and all is well,he shipped fast, got my top feedback. Slow shippers get an OK.

Brutus new supply of banilla, so I am ready, fire up the thingy…S.J.

Well, daughter and I just finished that peecan pie, but maybe a little banilla would be good too? On the way, dude!
