2009 Coffee Pot. Here we gather with friends with trains for chats, 4 years of coffee and sweet ice tea.

Morning all. Cold and snowy today - feel sorry for anyone driving or flying. Hope it’s quiet as I’m tired. Have to track down some teachers on behalf of the middle boy. I should know by now that when everything’s quiet, that’s not a good sign, instead of the reverse. LOL.

Thank you, Brent!

Good Morning All

Doug’s snow has not reached here yet, in fact the sun is shining. Forcast is for 4 to 6 inch’s.

Instead of our usual friday out supper we have decided it will be lunch today just in case. Still too early for any breaking news so I will just move along. Have a safe Friday…S.J.

Kurt I think it’s ok to ask about the horn here,Wouldn’t dare put that on the other place. Just would like to know from someone who would have heard them often.

Mornin’ all!

Cold and sunny here in Virginia right now.

Looks like this weekend we’ll start dismantling all the Christmas stuff. I don’t think the two little guys are going to be too happy about taking down the Christmas train layout. And putting away all the Christmas cars. I’ll have to see what I can do with an adhoc layout somewhere else in the house.

HI GYZ,

25 and windy here today. Watched the game last nite and fell asleep in recliner. Ran trains last nite for 45 minutes NO PILE UPs.

Suppose to get big snow tomorrw? 6-9 inches? Gonna be snow blowing.

STAY FROSTY,

laz57

Not much on the agenda for today. We do have a potential case, but have to wait on Cardiologist to go over a few things. We have a “Frontier Days” here at Chehaw Park, which is a nice size park that Jim Fowler (who is from here) runs the zoo. They have a lot of Indian exhibits as this area is rich in tribal history. Also have some older settler type demonstrations, etc.

I was not able to get back to the game last night. I was happy with the results, but glad it sounds like it was a good game and that both teams should be proud of their performances. Jon, now if The Ohio State team could just field the band, they would be good…just kidding. I know how riled up everyone gets.

Doug, yeah, I am registered Republican, but will not vote for anyone who is not conservative. I am more of a constitutionalist…it should be in the framework of the founders, and no, it is not a “living document”, read that, we can make it anything we want attitude. At this point, I have not seen a candidate I really like since Reagan. Just my opinion, so no flames.

Hope it is a quiet weekend as have plenty to get to. Layout needs work. Also, have to work on the home computer as laptop on wireless is acting up. Will not get online, even though it says it is “connected”. For awhile, wife could get on with her log in, but not me…Internet Explorer would lock up and not respond.

God Bless,
Dennis

I too am waiting on the snow. Sounds likes its going to be a long event. Then its gets bitter cold next week. I think this weekend I am going to paint some of the hardshell and do some scenic work on the layout.

SJ- When I get my 2056 passenger set from Lionel we’ll have to run your GG1 set with it and take some pics for the site. Who knows maybe I might even get my PM Berk at some point. I do think it would be cool to run some of the Conventional Classics together…

Hope everyone is safe and warm…

Isn’t it fun how toy-trains brings us all together - with grits as glue I guess - given my crazed-liberal politics. [;)]

May I be the first one to wish Dr. Dennis many happy felicitations and returns of the day in anticipation of the national celebration of his birth this Sunday… [tup][bow]

In the office and back from meeting. That is always one of the good meetings I have to attend. Things get done to help with the County [solid waste, waste water, animal control, restaurant inspections, water quality and sedimentation control]. Now to go home as Lucy is back. When I left, she was NOT bouncing off the furiture and was being calm. She also had teeth pulled while sedated. Seems she had extra teeth. The assoc. vet had told Pam they were OK. The main vet [we have trusted for years] said “come out”. Chat later.

Chief, glad Lucy is doing well. She will be up and at em soon.

Doug, thanks. Probably will be a subdued celebration as I am still on call. Perhaps we will run some trains!

A couple of things I have been wanting to post:

DVRed a program on South Dakota the other day…most of the program was on their railroad herritage. Was on RFD-TV, so I am sure you will see it again.

Also caught a Trains and Locomotives program on Indiana rail. Lots of steam and early diesel with some nostalgic video of some NMRA events with classic steam.

Lastly, DIY has been starting to show the “Workin’ On The Railroad” program again. Right now, they are the same episodes from last year, but if we show enough support and ask that they include more “O guage” shows, we may get a good program, we can all enjoy.

Have a blessed weekend,
Dennis

Evenin’ boys. Clear and 36 (feels like 27) here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Question - If Buckeye emerges and see his shadow, will it mean 6 more weeks of winter…? [D)]

88 - Be careful. Basic rule of thumb: each beverage contains approx .02 alcohol. Average body disapates .02 alcohol per hour. Hence, 3 drinks in one after hour will leave you with about .04. Kinda makes you wonder about the doodles who can blow a .24…whoa.

Nope, it is 6 months for his rule. [:O]

Back from fancy real Italian restaurant. Can’t even pronounce its name. FULL. Free meal [like crazy, spent $1,000 there in August for Pam’s 50th party]. Later.

Very quiet day today. Nice weather but no place to go. I took one more stab at the phone company this morning to try and get my extra line hooked back up. That was a waste of time. After 10 days of waiting, tech tells me I will need to wait three more days just to find out if it is possible to turn the line back on.

Ran some trains in the garage after weather warmed up. Running SP two unit SD45T-2 engines with long merchandise freight train and Santa Fe GP20 two unit set with a piggyback train. All MTH proto 2 DCS. I also gave my A-B-B-A Atlantic Coast Line F units Proto 1 a work out on a long freight. They still run good after a long spell of sitting. Engine has a BCR though which eliminates battery problems.

I have reached that age where a lot of my friends are disappearing through moving, death, old age or what ails you. I’m thinking about rejoining TTOS here for more comraderie and a better train meet than the one I belong to at TCA. TCA is big on the national level but very small here in our local division. Not much action on buying and selling. Of course with the economy in the tank, who knows what the future will bring. Seems like you have to give things away now to sell anything. E Bay et al have killed the train meets anyway. I am really tired of paying big bucks for this new electronic stuff which I don’t expect to last very long. I love all the bells and whistles but you can only buy so much.

Have a nice week end y’all

Ray

Trying to post, but won’t take? 3rd test…

Forum is as slow as cold syrup. Lite snow earlier but nothing now. More expected later. need to grab some trains and take the Tardis some place warm. S.J.

Dennis, I have to disagree with you. Our Constitution is very much a living document, just as the founders intended it to be. That’s why it has been amended 27 times over the years.

Take the issue of slavery, for example. When drafting the Constitution, our founding fathers deliberately chose not to ban the institution of slavery. In fact, in Article IV, Section 2, they even went so far as to write in a specific provision that could be used to force the return of runaway slaves.

It wasn’t long, however, before citizens of conscience were demanding the abolition of slavery as an immoral violation of basic human rights. It was clear to many that our Constitution was just plain wrong on this issue, and no amount of blind adherence to the “framework of the founders” could ever justify the institution of slavery.

It would take a Civil War to resolve this issue, and amend the living document to finally correct the founding fathers’ most grievous mistake.

One can argue that the founding fathers did what they had to do in order to get the country started. As such, they came up with

Sir J, you are right about slow.

edw, I would not go there. Careful. History is right. It was the Northern states that did not want to do away with salvery. Why? Their ships were the way they got the slaves to America. Lets change the subject. Thanks

Frankie’s new dog Ming is in emergency surgery. Mass in his tummy. May have swallowed Loralynn’s [his wife] cat’s toy.

Later.

Evening all

At work on “lunch” break. Been a good night so far, lots getting done. The drive home in the morning may be interesting.

Kurt - I have not written the homily yet but when it’s done, by the end of the month, I’ll send you a copy.

Wes- With your car was a thumb drive, what am I to do with it? It is a nice car, I’ve got an idea for pictures but I have not had the time to take them yet. I don’t have any new ones for SPF yet!

Buckeye- There is always tomorow

I received a 751 Log loader today. Works fine but needs some cosmetic clean up. It has a bigger footprint than I anticipated. Gotta get a bigger layout. I wonder if I could make a pass through tunnel into the adjoining bedroom???

May God bless

Jim

Chief- I hope ming does OK.

Animals get blessings too!

Jim

Sturg, thanks. A blessing is is needed. Frankie just got off the phone. They did NOT find anything blocking. The mass was a gas bubble. Vet opend his tummy and found irritated lining. Took bio just in case. May have something that irritated it. He may have to be on tummy meds for the rest of this life [like some people]. Frankie did say he took a 500mg vit. C each day. Told him to tell vet. I was taking two 500’s and Dr. told me to stop as it was irritating my tummy. Its acid. I take only one. Ming is a lot smaller than me. He is recovering fine. Its wait and see. Big deal was sneaking Frankie out of the inaugaral ball. He is swat and they were sitting hidden in a small room in full gear. They could not let him be seen with the gear on and no one could see swat was there and where they were hidden. Cptn got him out. No inaugral duty tomorrow.

Bed time.

Good night or should I say Morning all. That is the only thing wrong with 3rd shift never no if you are coming or going. I have been spending a lot of time in the train room. I should have some pics of the changes in S.F.F. just need to get the bride to show me how to upload the pics to Flickr again. Once they are in Flickr I don’t have a problem getting them here. Tried to get on and do a little catching up earlier in the night but when loading the page the computer kept timing out, site must have been real slow. Speaking of dogs friend of mine from work has a 1 year old lab that just finished surgery Wednesday night for a blockage. They removed a piece of a Kong bone. I guess you put treat in the end’s of it. Not the one shaped like the Michelin man. Vet told him that he has removed a few of those. So if you have a dog that is an aggressive chewer be careful with those. Looks like today should be pretty laid back. With the winter storm here my sons soccer game was canceled. I got the grocery shopping done Friday instead of Sunday morning Just in case the roads were still bad. So I am sure it will be a day of games, snow fort building, sled riding, movies and hot chocolate for us .Well that is all for now need to get some sleep before the little ones wake up. Talk later and and have a great day all.
