EDW, as often seems to be the case, I disagree. When we say “living document”, it is not about amendments, they are good and certainly included for good reason. What they are trying to do is interpret things that have been part of the constitution from the beginning, take for example, the 2nd amendment. Some try to say that the founding fathers only meant it as a militia to fight the British and not an individual right. They also try to say that the constitution says “separation of church and state”,it does not. It just says that the state shall not establish a religion.
OK, now to what we can agree on. TRAINS! I have a package on the dining room table that was sent down from NJ. I have hopes that this contains trains of some sort…but will have to wait till tomorrow to find out. Kids have Chinese lessons today, so the Mrs and I will have a few hours alone. Was asked what I want to do today…if I don’t get called in, I plan to do some work on the layout. Have to finally cut that Plexiglas that I plan to use on the control panel.
Well, bride made biscuits and sausage gravey, so gotta run and EAT![dinner]
Mornin’ boys. Overcast & 29 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Feels like SNOHIZO, but nothing falling yet. Hope my RAVENS can send Kerry and Co home…and hoping Pittsburgh reigns supreme over SANDY-EGGO. Whata season!
Chief - before you posted the update on Ming, I was gonna guery about the whereabouts of the cat… Oh, and Buckeye is ok, just sequesturing himself on Google reading about the B&O.
Phish - I remember a daring layout “expansion” by our own dbaker a couple seasons ago. Perhaps you could follow his example…
…speaking of dbaker, understand he had a little more SHAKE to his bake this week.
Dennis Chief and I are on our way save some for us. Morning all just got bride up as for once she wants to get going early as she wants to stop by this second hand shop and see if a certain lamp is still there. I think shes getting a lamp fetish you know some have purse, some has shoes, ect ect well she has purse and now it looks like lamp I think in the last year alone we’ve bought at least 6 lamps.LOL
Oh well it is a new year and I guess out with the old and in with the new.
Oh found the Kasey Kahne Expansion set for $29.95 also so bought it yesterday + $9.00 shipping. So now have still to get Dale and Dale Jr and the 2 train sets these the best I’ve seen is like $100.00 each and the dale Jr train set is $139.00 Oh well will see as I get the money.
Morning all. Up early [Lucy is home]. Off to Miss Edna’s. Taking my aux antenna for all to see. That way we will know what to tell folks if they come in and complain about Legacy signal loss problems. Sunny and cooler. Got to get leaves up this afternoon. Got fire dept yearly meal tonight [they do not do a Christmas meal but wait until Jan. and have one]. Chat later.
Got about an inch and a half of SNOHIO. Suppose to get 9 inches? Have snowblower ready. I am taking down tree today and putting decorations away. Ran trains last nite for 3.5 hrs, NO PILE UPs all ran great. Tipple is working good. Gonna try and do some work on new layout today? O r maybe just watch football?
Fifedog 90% of it is prices I can’t turn down and figure if I get 90 % might as well get it all lol. the only 2 that aren’t prices you can’t turn down are the 2 dale expansion packs but there even marked down some. lol. They would make an nice display on the shelves in the train room figure if you add the expansions sets to the 2 regular make 2 real nice trains.
Morning all. Still snowing here - supposed to snow all day - don’t mind the workout pushing it around every few hours. Looks like the middle boy wants us to go to his wrestling meet - an hour drive in the snow. Hmmm. Probably will. Got nothing else going on today. Warning the bride about what she’ll see there. Forum was down late last night.
Ray, I’d go join the TCA for the friendships. Heck, that’s my favorite part of the hobby!
Good deals, RT. Fife, I love those NASCAR 1:43 cars. Chief, may Ming recover swiftly. Kurt, got the LED. Can’t wait to try it. Will let you know later this weekend. Thanks again. Jim, Don’s car also had a thumbdrive - took me a while to figure out how to work it. First you take your digital pictures and put them from your camera onto your computer. Then, you plug the drive into a USB port on your computer. Then your computer will recognize it and it will pop up on your compute desktop, then you can drag your photos to the drive or copy them to it however you do that. Then eject the drive, and you’re all set. Copies should be on it.
Snow is here about 3 to 4 inch’s. not to bad but not finished yet either. Just like a vacation post card, I wish you were here. Lost half my thread, wrong button. So I will just go away. I have CTT and toy trains to keep me busy.
Doug, one of the guys who worked on the movie lives up your way. Wrote on my “Wall” about the snow. Sorry man, wish you had the nice day we are having.
Was a nice day, had all kinds of plans and I find myself at the hospitial taking care of a person who was visiting the area and needs our services, so to speak. Looks OK now, so I will head back to the house.
RT, better hurry, only a few biscuits left and the kids will eat them with jelly for a snack. I will rush home and try to stop them for ya!
Everytime I read that the Lionel shipping schedule has been updated I check it to see if the Lionmaster BigBoy has been rescheduled or dropped (didn’t it previously say cancelled?). Still scheduled for April '09 but I have read that September is more likely.
Just finished shoveling about five inches of snow from part of the driveway. Decided to wait for the plow to scrape the road before finishing. Did put a stick up to mark the end of the driveway. Almost every year, the plows scrape part of the front lawn up. Spring of 2008 was the first time they every attempted to fix it but the result was just lots of weeds.
Going to take the reindeer and decorations down today. Then work in the train room, and get some pictures of the car exchange done. Hopefully will have it posted tomorrow. That’s turning out to be a very enjoyable project. It’s like a mini Christmas morning when the car arrives.
With all the history lessons going on, I have usually found that those that have “lived” more history typically have a better prospective of reality of it all. I know my views have continued to change with life, from a somewhat liberal at youth to more and more conservative with time. And, have found it VERY rare that have been able to change anyone’s political or theoritical viewpoints. Usually just make them more entrenched in their own. The biggest benefit is that where we live, we can have those divergent thoughts and even express them, without looking over our shoulder. The frustrating part is, those that so easily forget the sacrifices that so many made, so we could have those freedoms. Anyway, this place is for trains and it certainly can’t be deied the role trains have played in our history.
