Time to start a combined shipment of Hershey’s syrup and Nestle Quick to go with all that moo juice

i heard some dude ask a resale shop about a plainer car to cut nicks out of his g scale plastic rail they dont really sell something like that do they?

isnt that plastic stuff kinda not what you want anyhow?

i always look for lbg when i look at g scale is there something i dont know about the plastic rail? is it secretly good?

No. It’s openly crap. About the only “good” plastic rail track I ever saw came with Bachmann’s original battery powered, remote control Big Hauler of the late 80’s. (The last purchase I remember making at Kiddie City by the way.). New Bright rail is awful, never had any Scientific Toys rail. The only reason you might want the stuff is for a cheap outdoor railroad. But in the long run LGB (now Märklin) is exponentially better.

Weather here has been great, 66 out there now with full sun, so I have been servicing the mower, tractor and Gators. Tomorrow it is to cool off, so I am going to swap out more motive power on the layout. Bout it from The North Bluff above Marseilles IL.

Had some lovely weather today. Had to be out for an appointment, and had extra time to stop by an antique mall. They rarely have trains, and when they do the selection is poor and prices are pretty terrible.

No trains today, but I picked up this 1950s Dinky 905 Foden Flat Truck. It is missing a stake, and a chain that ran around the bed.

I’m not sure exactly what scale it was done to, but it seems to scale very well with my O gauge equipment.

All in all, $6 well spent I think.

I also spent some time late this afternoon working on repairing a couple original boxes. It has its own thread so I won’t post the pics here, but I am working on an 0836-110 HO Alaska RR hopper box, a 6464-150 Missouri Pacific box, and a 6466WX whistle tender box. The first of the three needs some pretty major work, the rest just need a little reinforcing.

You should send me your finished 6466WX box El, So I have something to put the 6466W I’ve been working on in lol. Does anyone know how a W and a WX differ?

Looks like it was purpose made to go with O Gauge trains! Great find!

I believe I have a 6466WX in my collection that is lacking a box, so I’m afraid it’s already spoken for!

I believe that in the case of the 6466WX, the ‘X’ denoted the addition of a wire handrail on the deck of the tender, which was not applied to the normal 6466W. Feel free to correct me if I’m mis-remembering that.

Another big thank you to Firecrown, my goodies just delivered today! My gift card went to some tools I’ve been needing, a foam cradle for HO locos, Micro-Set/Sol, and a Kadee coupler height gauge.
