I wish! Actually its just Rust Oleum. Unfortunately a good airbrush is a bit out of budget for me.
I bought a Centrsl Pneumatic airbrush at Harbor Freight. It was inexpensive and works like a charm. That said, your paint job looks great.
Rich
Thanks for the kind words Rich.
And why not? While Howard Johnson’s is no more we can console ourselves with the idea of “The dance is over but the melodies linger on!”
Or, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!”
A beautiful and interesting paint scheme! Is it prototypical or fantasy, not that it really matters, it works!
I’ve been using Tamiya spray paints which have worked out very well for me. Tamiya masking tape is good stuff too. For large areas where precision isn’t required I use 3M Blue masking tape.
IF I was going to do repaints as a business I’d invest in a good airbrush system but since I’m doing it for my own enjoyment the “rattle cans” are perfectly adequate.
It’s a fantasy scheme inspired by one of my mom’s favorite birds, a Cedar Waxwing. She’s a birder and when she saw a Waxwing in real life it took her breath away. I wanted to bring the colors of the Waxwing to my trains for her.
yeah its expensive anyhow to shoot 1400 rounds of 22 is around $89 now a days my swords i have 1 is a Damascus steel 1000 fold katana that is REAL and not a replica or repop
i have 2 replica scottish claymores, i have 1 apocalypse style made from junk found at a scrap yard a worked at and givin to me as a going away present. i got in 2 more swords 1 from india the other doesnt have a marking on it.
shoot everythings expensive now a days even paintball we just got 2 guns and 4k rounds ammo and 2 tanks and 2 hoppers it was near a 500 dollar bill. i was amazed even the co2 for the 2 20oz tanks was 10$
i got one for you boyz check this out. I worked at Gateway Convention Center and we had the Great American Model Train Show roll through. well after they packed up and finished and left i found this reefer sitting in box only the plastic lining in the box was broke(packaging).
When I picked it up the manager who was the only other person working that night said i can have it or its going in the trash.
now i didnt have anything close to a layout but i kept it cause i couldnt let something that cool get trashed turned out its got a sound chip in it and it works on dc.
but that was a perk on that job free stuff including a nice sounding refridge car. only thing that made the night better cause it was me and him we put our phone next to the mic and used the convention center’s P A to play music while we worked
AVTreanz that is a real nice paint job!
Chuck
And it looks great!
You’re not kidding! The last time I went to a gun show all I got was a heart attack!
And nice saves on those two cars, definitely too good to trash!
nice snag ,good eye to see it laying there.
Chuck
go to the flea market i guarentee its way better i found a iver johnson 22lr 8 shot for 100 thats how good the flea market is.
that’s how i got a lot of stuff on my layout is flea market and resale purchases witch makes it even better cause its all used you wind up with cool and rare stuff on your line its nice when you can find a tote with 12 or 16 completed model buildings for 10$
plus tools for anything weather its building a table for your layout sodoring etc they have it usually at the flea market i can get a sodor gun 5$ all day long down there and test it too before i buy it.
sometimes you find good train stuff too. i bought a box of track and 3 switches all marx027 for 25$ i mean at least rough estimate 7 bundles of curved peices i think like 6 oor 7 peices per bundle ziptied togeather
about the same am-mount of bundles in straight track and 3 or 4 pieces im still figuring out what their for looks like a unload-er section or something cause it has a round red thing in the middle rail. so yeah i always will recommend flea markets and resale shops
I used to do that with a cassette boombox at Builder’s Square when we did inventory overnight ![]()
WOW a boombox have not seen one of them since High School. ![]()
Chuck
Probably haven’t seen a Builder’s Square since then either! They were out of business before the turn of the millennium! ![]()
You are absolutely right I have not! ![]()
Chuck
Well here you go, my “Mighty Moo-Juice Train!”
The only regret I’ve got is I wish I’d known Williams was only going to make the Ramapo Valley Creamery car for one year, the Ramapo River valley is in the area of NJ where I grew up, I’d have bought several of them. Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll find another one.
Nice collection, Flintlock!
