Whoops! Full disclosure, that’s not me in the picture. A while back when I was looking for an avatar I picked a picture of a Continental Marine holding a flintlock musket and for two reasons. I WAS a Marine (Although I don’t go back THAT far, the gray hair notwithstanding!) and I was into muzzleloading for the longest time, especially flintlocks. Hence my “callsign” of “Flintlock76.”
I do have two .75 caliber Brown Bess muskets, one a reproduction from the 1970s and another an original from 1779.
As far as reenacting though that’s something I never got into, it’s an expensive hobby and the dollars don’t stretch that far. I had to pick and choose carefully just what the hobbies I got involved with were going to be.
i know what your saying i collect swords on occasion but its seldom i buy them cause of the expense the same with guns its one thing if i find it super cheap at flea market
but i wont go out of my way to save up a couple grand for one at that price id rather buy a g scale sd70mac and then a few cars or a G scale big boy
the trains are more fun anyhow cause i love my target shooting and it is fun to me until i run out of ammo or i put it up cause it gets too dark or gun jams
theres so much that id rather the trains i can do them any time day or night they dont really require me to buy cleaning supplys time after time like you would with ammo (meaning at the rate you have to purchase more) so yeah i like my trains more
Now swords are something I never got into even though I did some fencing in high school and college. I’ve only got two, my Marine officer sword from “way back when” and a Model 1913 US Army “Patton” saber that was too good to pass up! Although maybe the 16" bayonets I’ve got for my 1903 Springfield and M1 Garand might pass for Roman gladii!
It’s been a while since I’ve done any shooting, the passion’s just not there as it used to be.
I’m very glad I was of some assistance!
I too want to thank Firecrown for the gift card. What a wonderful reward for doing something I absolutely adore. I ordered the 2 DVD rom set of Classic Toy Trains (Which was also on sale). I had a full run of the magazine in slip cases but they disappeared in the estate sale when we moved. One regret from the move.
I’m also happy to see the increase in participation here.

Thanks to Firecrown for the Gift Card. Like others all I do here is make the occasional post and hand out “Likes” for the things I see that I like.
I’ve been able to pick up a number of modeling tools that I never had the extra funds for or to replace the ones I’ve worn out over the past 50+ years.
The Firecrown folks are doing an excellent job bringing these forums back.

Morning all
cold seems to be easing up some. Have a very scratchy throat and still feeling tired, but not feeling quite as crummy as yesterday.
Looks like my goodies are on the way from Trains/Firecrown Media. Something to look forwards to!

OK, here it comes.
While fantasy paint schemes are a thing right now I can’t say there’s many that appeal to me OR that I’d want to spend the money on. SO I decided to “Roll my own!”
Up in the part of New Jersey where Lady Firestorm (I haven’t mentioned her in a while!) and I come from there’s a supermarket co-op chain that’s darn near sacred ground for the natives called Shop-Rite. If you can’t find it in Shop-Rite forget it, it can’t be found! Anyway I got a “wild hair” and decided to do a Shop-Rite fantasy locomotive. And here it is…
I started with a Post-War Lionel 2046 Hudson and for colors I used the Shop-Rite logo from 1946 as an inspiration. I used 1946 for the cab number as well. I know a Hudson’s not the first thing you think of when it comes to freight engines but I figured it’s fantasy anyway so what’s the difference?
Got to have a caboose too, right?
The side number stands for “220 West Passaic Street Rochelle Park” which is the address of our go-to Shop-Rite on our visits up north.
Yeah, a wacky combo but I like it. And it does look cool on the head-end of a milk car train!
And we love it!

Very nice. And a job well done Flintlock. Now lets see that milk train.

Very nice job! Thanks for posting the photos. – John
Beautiful work Flintlock!
I want to congratulate all you folks who have been rewarded by Firecrown and offer them kudos for doing it! Seems like a great outfit!
Flintlock76 nice work, you really do great work.
Chuck
Thanks! I’ll get back to everyone on the milk train.
Chuck (amflyer1), AVTrainz, York1, thanks so much!

Knowing how crazy I am for all things orange and turquoise I’d probably do a Howard Johnson’s paint scheme if I ever decided to do another fantasy loco. ![]()
@Flintlock76, now you’re getting me motivated to finish this SD45 I’ve had on the back burner for awhile. Still needs to be touched up and have decals applied. Thankfully I purchased the Micro-Sol set from the Trains store with my gift card!
Wow, nice paint job. Airbrushed?
