While on a recent visit to the new Bridgeview Bed and Breakfast, I ventured back up to one of my favorite elevated railroad vantagepoints overlooking the former PRR Rockville Bridge near Harrisburg, Pa.
An Eastbound NS 26T creeps across the historic structure as it awaits its turn into Harrisburg.
Thanks…the river was up somewhat at the time, which was a little over a week ago…its been a wet couple of months in the Northeast…I forgot to mention that the building that I zoomed in on, with the dark roof is where I was staying…It is a former residence/sporting goods shop which was purchased by a friend of mine and converted into a Bed and Breakfast along the lines of the Station Inn at Cresson. http://www.bridgeviewbnb.com So now I don’t need to stay at chain motels when railfanning the Harrisburg area now that another railfan oriented B@B has opened.
You drive uphill away from the River on Roberts Valley Road, turn right onto another narrow road to the top…then hike back toward the river along the top of the ridge via a trail that leads to the overlook…land off to either side of the trail is private property…
River looked worse in video than what it actually was…In 1972 during Hurricane Agnes, water got up above the height of what is now the rear deck of the B@B and several feet into the living space… In 2004, water intruded several inches into the living space…Water in video was still within the banks but had mud content from recent rains…
