A little B&O help needed here please!

Might anyone know where I can but a set (or 2) of B&O passenger car decals? (Microscale 97-797) I called my LHS, only to be informed that Walthers is out of stock. Microscale’s web site says they are also out, with NO future date for release. So I started calling around. Pro-Custom, Peachcreek, Kleins’, Gilberts, Mainline and Dennison’s, no help. I even tried Des Plaines Hobbies and Caboose Hobbies in Denver (hey, east coast stuff is easy to get elsewhere right??), with no luck either. None on Ebay either.

Any ideas? I’ve got 5 cars to decal.[%-)]

Next time, I’m gonna secure the decals BEFORE I sign up for the job!!![sigh]

Hey Karl, did you try calling Nancy up at MAILBAG HOBBIES? Sometimes she has local roads on hand. You could try your luck at the Scale show in Timonium next month also.

You may be able to use a generic set of Roman RR lettering in gold leaf, with pinstriping. The Drumheads may be a hard item though.

My advice is to forget the Microscale set and use Champ decals (which are still available). You’ll need sets PH-9D for the roadname, S-54 for the stripes, and PH-1 for names–not all or which are B&O, but you can cut syllables from the names on the sheet and form new ones. These sets are all currently available; Champ’s web site is http://www.minot.com/champ/HO-catalog.htm. An example of a B&O car I painted and lettered with the Champ decals is here: http://borhs.org/ModelerMag/BO_Modeler_2_2006_JulyAug.pdf.

Mr B&O

Maybe I’m just wacky on the junk, but would N scale locomotive decals work?

wm3798 - The passenger car lettering tends to be a bit more squatty and elongated than the diesel lettering.

Well, alls well that ends well I guess. After lots more phone calls, I got a hold of a fellow modeler who has one of those jobs where he has tooooo much time on his hands. 4 hours later he located not one, but 2 sets at a shop in Detroit. After he told me, I promptly called with Mastercard in hand, and I should have them Tuesday. (thanks P&D Hobby!)

Thanks to all that responded, you covered some ground that I didn’t!
