Thanks Charlie[bow] !!!

I have been reading these forums for several yrs and was too embarrassed to ask what the abbreviations stood for, so this is a GREAT help!!

Thanks again,

Dave

I was in the same boat… so I googled for the text message abbreviations and thought others would be interested in the site. I was surprised at how many I guess at and was wrong!

I printed the list and keep it next to my computer.

Reminds me of that scene in “Good Morning Vietnam” where Robin Williams is messing with the Lieutenant and spews out a sentence of almost nothing but initials and acronyms.

The scary part was I understood the whole thing.

Now that you’ve told everybody, we’ll have to get a new set.

I’m a firm believe in typing exactly how you would speak - i.e. use complete sentences and keep acronyms to a minimum.

“Sir… Since the VP is such a VIP, shouldn’t we keep his PC under QT? Because if the VC find out, he could become MIA, then we’d all be put on KP.”

Hey that site says that AAR means at any rate. We all at this forum know that AAR is American Association of Railroads. Or sumpin like that…

My favorite of the ones I hadn’t seen is FISH for “First In, Still Here.” It just seems that it might apply to a lot of situations.
