Amtrak, Year 2000 NS West Slope ride...Cresson to Johnstown, Pa and back...

Back in June of 2000, I rode Amtrak Westbound from Altoona to Johnstown, Pa and back…

Here are the segments Westbound from Cresson to Johnstown…and then back to Cresson:

Enjoyed 'em Dave…especially the views down in Johnstown.

Thanks, Modelcar…I spent 6 hours in Johnstown that day during the layover until the Eastbound Amtrak arrived to take me back to Altoona…I spent much of the layover up at the top of the Johnstown Inclined plane where I got some nice elevated video of Johnstown and the railroad…and ate an early dinner at the restaurant up there…

Sometime in the near future, I’ll post the ride footage of the East side of the hill…from Altoona up around Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin…

Yes, that’s a wonderful view from up there. Some years ago we used to stay in Johnstown in our visits to the home area before the nice Hampton Inn was built in Somerset. There in Johnstown, we used to make our “home” downtown at the Holiday Inn. And of course we’ve eaten at the top of the hill too…In fact for some time on here, my Avatar was shot in that restaurant sitting at a window table…
