Just contacted MC, wonder what they will say , it would be awesome to add to my vintage EMD fleet

Yes, I do have a fleet of locomotives prior to shutting the NRPS thing down. I have decided to bring it back with another project, the Welcome to Norwalk, IA sign, which is expected to start construction in May 2026.

this is why the skepticism on my end. Seems extremely unlikely for something that big and heavy to be removed unless the hood was also removed, and I just cannot imagine vandals attempting something that involved out in the field. Didn’t make any sense to me.

That could explain the bolted up prime mover doors…

I think that is more easily explained as a preventative measure, since it was kinda stored unattended in a not especially secure location, where vandalism has happened to the locomotive before. Why make it easy for people to break into the locomotive and rip out copper, etc.

Of course it’s clearly suffered some anyway. But The cylinders need to come out of the top of the engine afaik, and the doors are located on the sides of the hood.

Do you… even know how to maintain and repair locomotives? I don’t claim to know much of anything about it, but frankly it doesn’t really sound like you know much about it either.

I do know how to maintain and repair a locomotive, I’m contacting Progress Rail right now on a 710ECO rebuild for it

A big concern with moving it after its been sitting that long in the weather would be rust. Is it still on its wheels? What is the condition of the drivetrain? When UP 4014 was first moved, the drivers were locked up with rust and they had to be freed (obviously not the same but if the trucks have rust its possible). I remember when North County Transit here in San Diego moved one of its F40’s down to PSRM in Campo from Oceanside, they did have to truck the loco to PSRM tracks. While this was just because the line is independent from the national rail network, you may have to consider something similar if this Geep can’t move.

Hey, @Bigguy511, the email you provided did not work I got an email back saying the recipient wasn’t available

@AVTrainz, Shop trucks should do in the process of transporting it

Your lies just keep getting bigger and bigger.

And your stubbornness gets worse and worse, kind of surprising that you’re only responding to my threads and posts, what a coincidence

Not surprising that your recent posts are in my threads and I’m not trying to be putrid, nor am I a forum freeloader…

I’m not really sure why you’re making plans around a locomotive you don’t own, and have not even spoken to the owners of about purchasing. Many people have desires to preserve locomotives, but it takes a lot of expertise, money, and planning to make stuff happen. I suppose I wish you the best, but… I think skepticism is pretty justified here.

Is this real life or fantasy?

You have to ask/
