Who’s comin? We will be meeting at the CTT Booth on Friday around 1pm (?) for the group photo - if that time doesn’t work we can schedule it for another time. I won’t be able to make it to the fairgrounds till after noon.
In honor of His Majesty The Mayor I am planning a gathering on Saturday April 19th at my place in Mount Airy, MD (about 1.25 South West of York). I hope to have the layout functional by then so we should be able to run some trains. Weather permitting I’ll be cooking some burgers and chicken on the grill.
If interested just respond via email with your email address so I can send directions.
I may have an interest. I have never been to York and have heard nothing but great things about the event. My understanding is that they do a show in the spring and the fall. Is one better than the other? How close is Baltimore and Washington D.C. to York? Do you have to be a member of a club to attend?
Got my reservations at the Holiday Inn Express [cash in some of those hundreds of thousand points] and mailed my card and check for my badge. Now debating on driving or flying. Might rent a car and drive up.
John,
You have to be a member of the TCA to attend… or you can go as a guest on a current member. York is 1 hour North of Baltimore and a 3 day drive North from D.C. [;)] LOL!
Actually from D.C. it would take about 2 - 2.5 hours depending on traffic.
The April and October shows are basicly the same, some vendors have different stuff between the two shows though.
All, I have my ticket, as usual I will be in the “Blue Hall” “Table E-14”, drop by.
TCA York, PA —You must be a Member or Applicant of TCA, or Guest of a TCA Member. All 8 buildings on the York Fair Grounds are used. York is put on by the Eastern Division of the Train Collectors Association each April and October and do a great job.
Figure on 15,000 members in attendence and about 1,500 Member Tables and Dealer Booths. Talk to Lionel, MTH, Atlas, etc., thay are ALL members and attend.
The York Show opens on Thursday at Noon and closes on Saturday at 2 PM. You can not see it all in one day.
A Summer Convention is held each year in a different city, this year it is June in Burlington, VT.
I will be there too. This is my 7th time going there. I plan on going down on friday or saturday. What time does the show open on friday?? what time does it open on saturday?? I know its done at 2PM on saturday. I know exactly what I am looking for. A 1946 berkshire #726 with the double worm drive, or a 2345, 2355, or 2356 F3 AA Units. I think this is the best show and competive prices because there is so much. More items of 1 kind the lower the prices of that item. This time I am taking my Dad along as a guest. Its $20 for me and $20 for him at the door, now a member gets to have a guest 1 time only to a york show? see you all there.
Eastern Division now posts the York Registration Package “On Line” shortly after the first of the year. I downloaded it and sent for tickets on Jan. 21st, got my tickets this week. Beats waiting for the Mailman. They have been doing this for some time, you can get the same table at each meet this way.
Drive, then you’ll have plenty of room to take back your purchases. I was glad we drove even though it was a 1000 miles as we were able to see parts of the country that we really enjoyed, especially the hills and valleys SE of Pittsburgh and the Battlefields at Gettysburg and the train museum and the tour of the HD plant and… the list is endless.
