B&O Railroad Museum Unveils Restored All American Locomotive
Saturday June 28, 2008
10:00 AM
The restored diesel locomotive (GP38-2), CSX No. 9699, formerly Baltimore & Ohio 3802, will be unveiled to the public in the Museum’s National Historic Roundhouse to its 1982 appearance when Trains Magazine designated it the “All American Locomotive.”
B&O Railroad Museum members will be invited to a special preview of the restored locomotive from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
Darn. I’ll be in VERMONT, or I would be there to photograph 3802 in all her glory. Can you believe CSX actually gave her the pumpkin treatment?
BTW…it’s a GP38.
Well then it looks like I’ll have to attend to take pictures for you… [;)]
GP38 vs GP38-2 I wouldn’t know the difference… at least not yet.
Brent…send some this way. I need to figure out a way to get to Baltimore again to see museum. When is blue crab season? [:)]
Buckeye - best time for the MD BLUE CRAB is actually September (old schoolmate of mine owns a crabbing boat).
88 - The spotting feature for a DASH-2 is the water sight glass on the long hood of the engineer’s side, as well as the air filter box behind the cab. Just keep in mind Chessie (nor any of her predecessors) had the GP38-2, just GP38’s.
