Building the Arrowhead Division of American Flyer Lines

There’s a handful of decent (but not great) Lionel #280 bridges on eBay right now. They fit one straight.

Thanks for the Lionel suggestion palallin. It jogged my memory that I have a Lionel #101 and ramps. The ramps won’t fit but the bridge itself is just right.

The progress does my heart good.

Now, THAT is what electric trains are all about!

That’s exactly the bridge I thought of when I saw the size of the gap. Also I’ve always been intrigued with that particular Flyer loco. It reminds me of a cross between the Dreyfuss Hudsons (both Century and Empire State) and the Leowy Torpedo.

I think the Lionel 101 will work well in that spot. Thanks for agreeing.

The 417 is one of my favorite engines. It shares a lineage with both of the engines you mention. It was only available for 1 year, 1939. It headed up both a passenger and a freight set.

Today marks the first running of a train on the Wide Gauge loop. It happens to be an Ives Wide Gauge set - The 5th Avenue Special. Just because it happened to be handy.

And here is some Flyer Narrow Gauge running with a big brother. The engine is a #3020 and the cars are Columbia cars.

There hasn’t been any progress on the railroad, but I have been working on going through boxes of trains that I packed up before the move. Here are some photos of how the display shelves are progressing.
