Canadian Pacific CEO Green out, new board of directors to lead railroad

RIP 2816 and RCP

Hope the new regime in Calgary stops dragging their feet on selling Montreal area lines to AMT for commuter service.

It’s amazing that someone with only 14% ownership can have such control over a railroad that is 86% owned by other investors. It is a sad day for CP.

Ackman is a vulture capitalist. They will strip assets, suck the company dry then toss the bones out to the highest bidded. That is how hedge funds and private equity “works”.

Replacing with E Hunter isn’t going to help much. As a former shipper on the IC, I remember E’s “efficiencies” resulted in poor service and big delays at best. I wouldn’t let this clown run my HO pike.

So let me get this straight… Bill Ackman bought control of CP with other people’s money? What does he have to lose? I think if a hedge fund buys a company, they should be a silent owner. What does Bill know about running a railroad?

To put it mildly: the fire sale for what was the Soo Line, D&H, DM&E, and IC&E is about to begin. On the other hand, what an opportunity to buy a big piece of my favorite railroad (the Soo Line) and start up a regional!

Hunter is a relic of the downsizing past, much like Krebs had become after the BNSF merger. CP really needs management that can grow the business, not shrink it!
