What has happened to California Northern Railroad’s last GP15-1, known to be 1570?
Was it scrapped or did it manage to escape scrapping somehow. Because it’s January 2026 and one source claims its stored. Though I cannot find it on Google Maps. Plus, phase IV of the locomotive retirements during the G&W’s EPA scandal has wrapped. And there are some of the 88 locomotives that haven’t been scrapped or repowered yet, let alone disposed of as of January 2026.

So. Was 1570 scrapped? Is it still in storage? Did it escape scrapping?

I may come back with more questions about these locomotives on the G&W-EPA ‘hit list’ in regards to their dispositions. So keep an eye out for those posts.
