John, I only go above the Mason Dixon line if I have to, not for desire. I am heading up to work on the train layout. Had to do a fair bit of reading to make sure of things as I am preparing to run the wires for the level that will have TMCC, but be wired for DCS in case I ever get an itch to change things up, I won’t have to rewire it. It is a pleasant 70something out right now. Not much going on. Pretty outside as compared to the other day.
Take care,
dennis
Good Evening all!
It’s been hovering around freezing all day today. Yesterday’s snow and ice storm resulted in power outages in the Toronto area and a few thousand are still without electricity tonight. Plowing the slushy mess off my laneway was a major nightmare even though there was only about 3" of frozen precip.
John, really really nice looking flatcar load! Just got a Lionel 40 footer and it seems mine is missing the real gold brick load it should have come with…or you’d think so considering what they cost [;)]
Took my first attempts at weathering with chalks these last few days. I practiced up on a mid '80’s Lionel GN ore car which now looks really well worn. Seems the trick to weathering is to use as little material as possible, go very slowly and work on small areas at a time. It’s so easy to overdo the piece you’re working on with the end result being one big mess. Luckily with chalks you can simple wash them off and start over. Wood kits wouldn’t be so forgiving
Then I tackled my Altas switch tower after being satisfied that I kinda, sorta, maybe knew what I was doing. [;)] Added some railroad crew, lights and other details while I was at it.
I’ll try getting some pics tonight for tomorrows Foto Phun.
Good night and have a great tomorrow.
Bruce Webster
Got the load painted zinc oxide, may need another coat & tie downs !!
Thanks, John
Looks good John. Did you start with square brass tubing? I have some gondolas that I would like to construct loads for, but not sure what I want to use.
Some one on another thread or forum once suggested thin black tape like the striping tape they sell in hobby shop to represent metal strapping. Never tried it but it should work.
Hello All! CSXJohn- You did a nice job with that Flatcar. Looks super! Mike C- Hope Lucas does well on his Driving Exam & is a very safe driver as well. Hope the Chief is fine. He could have been kidnapped by Aliens in a Red Pickup Truck with a Gunrack in the Rear Window. They might have lured him with Grits,BBQ Pork,Potato Salad,& Sweet Iced Tea.[;)][:P][:-^][C=:-)][alien][alien] Don B- OTTS does not mind if you & chris have your own train club. Maybe there’s an 700 lb Bear (Cousin of laz’s 800lb bruin) around who would enjoy such a thing & can become your club mascot also.[;)][:o)][:D] Take Care all.

Well the wife thinks it must going to snow here in Dixie tonight as I started work on my room after a year and a half of saying I was (well the problem was everytime I was going to she came up with another prodject need to be done first) well heres some pics after I put in new windows about a year ago I ended up tearing out some paneling to do so so I’m going in with 3/8" plywood I got cheap as it had some water stains and mold on it so I hit it with bleach water right away (about a year ago also) and I’m hitting back side with KILTZ and will do front after its all up. anyway heres some pics

I’m still going to have to get some 3/4" ply wood to redo the floor. as its weak in a few places and a couple of smal holes have developed in a couple.
Something funny going on with OGR and MTJ
I get a page can not be found error when trying to access OGR forums it says to try the home page which is actually MTJ home page[%-)]
Snowed quite a bit today…off and on…but it was always going horizontal!!! So no noticeable accumulation. Plenty windy yesterday and today. Off work all day tomorrow…I wonder what bizarre weather we’ll have???

What ever was wrong now seems to be fixed my computer had a brain fart.
The rumor is just that …A RUMOR!!! None of us suthners have defected to the Nawth as previously reported. [:O] Couldn’t bring the vette even if I came that way. It actually belongs to my husband and it never goes out in potentially bad weather and never very far from home…[sigh]
RE: Wire stretcher - found some 20/4 wire at a local hardware store, rewired the switch remote - and it worked the FIRST time. After got it all back together, ran some trains for a while. Ready to start on some scenery…been thinking and planning on it today instead of doing housework…oops…don’t tell my husband!
LAZ - hehee - found my own wirestretcher - will try it on some boards next. Did you decide on what color duck tape to use on that pen light? Maybe a zip tie will work - I have some clear, black and purple…[angel]
Anyone get to see the lunar eclipse?
Lisa
Thanks John, (jefelectric) & Jim !! I made those out of I believe 7/32" square brass tubing. I just measured them & they will slide right inside the quarter inch tube. The cross pieces are 1/8th." I painted it with Polly Scale, “Special Oxide Red” ! My next ones are going into the gondolas !! I see them all the time on the real RRs like that. May make some using conduit also !!
Thanks again everyone !!

Jim no the stains were on the boards when I bought them (got them for $5.00 each they were sitting out side with a tarp on them I treated them with bleach water then dried them and then painted other side with KILTZ and will do same to this side to be sure once there all up.
