Point taken Jim, We haven’t the space to up sticks and abandon an area the size of NOLA, neither would we leave it to the rats (4&2 legged).
Going to a local Mill Store with the Dear Lady as we are in for a wet day, my plans to go into the upper Pennines for lunch are washed out. Mild though, +11.
Mornin’ boys. Mornin’ Lisa. Reference to the lunar eclipse, nobody came to my little “party” to celebrate, and I had gone thru the trouble of putting on my grass skirt, ceremonial face paint, and bones in my hair…talk about all dressed up with no place to go. Didn’t even bother lighting up the barbecue pit. [V] Wound up taking Mrs. Fifedog to BED, BATH & BEYOND…[V]
BAKEER - I’d sell that residence and get off the island, because according to former V.P. Gore, you’re all gonna be under water in about 10,000 years or so.
Remember, the CHIEF will be back tonight, so ya’ll be sure and tidy up the site before ya’ll leave.
Morning from Gettysburg. Currently 30 with highs to be about 40. Yesterday I had great intentions to run some trains. So I turned on the heat in the train room. I also had to climb into the attic up a folding stairway to take some pcs of a hinge on atoy box for my Dad. He’s building a toybox for Brian, my nephew, just like the one he built for my son and nephew 20+ years ago and he needed to see the safety hinge he put on it to be sure he got the same type of hinge. Well I crawled up in the attic twice to take pics and read him some serial numbers off the hinge. While I was up there, the Mrs asked me to get dwon any boxes of “baby items” so is spent another hour draggin boxes around and down the steps for her. WHen I got done, it was lunch time, so I had lunch. After lunch I sat in the chair the next thing I knew [zzz] it was time for dinner. So much for train time…
Guys, I need you to say some prayers for Dave, a good friend and teacher at my school. He started about three weeks ago with a stomach flu, vomiting. Went to Dr. several times, Dr said to give it a few days. A few days turned into 2 weeks, still vomiting several times every day. A week ago, Dr. did endoscopy with biopsy and diagnosed peptic ulcers. Sends him home with some meds. Well meds did not work, changed meds those new meds made him dizzy and of course he is getting weaker by the day. Thursday, his wife had had enough so she takes him to hospital. They admitted him and drew blood work ( seems as though the Dr that did endoscopy didn’t do that). His blood work comes back showing kidney failure with a creatinine level of 28 ( normal is 1, kidney failure is 10). They admitted him and started dialysis Friday night. Monday they are going to do a kidney biopsy to see if they can find out what caused kidneys to fail. Dialysis seems to be helping some. I am going to visit him to day.<

It is a cold 24 degrees. Got a little snow yesterday. Going up to 35 today, with a cloudy sky. Maybe snow flurries later.
Today, is an easy day. Have a couple of chores to do, and then take it slow. Company liked the trains, and stayed for pizza. Yesterday, was a busy day. Maybe I’ll run trains , later this afternoon. No races to watch today. Wife is waiting on baseball season to start. I’m waiting on summer and hot, sunny weather.
**Mitch…**Our prayers for your friend, Dave.
**John ( csxt30 )…**You did a great job on that flatcar. Looks real.
Well, everyone must be sleeping late today. Full Dining Car is here and it’s time for breakfast.
Good Morning Everyone !! No snow here last night !! Good !!
Mitch : we’ll be praying for your friend, also .
Been up for a while making pieces for a godola load now !! Can’t wait to see what it will look like in a gon !! Thanks Chuck, glad you liked it too !! Buckeye gets all the credit for me thinking of it !! [:D] Come to think of it, my town of Eagleville wouldn’t look as good as it does if he hadn’t told me to put a track through it !! [(-D] Buckeye is our Think Tank Thinker !! [(-D][(-D]
Well, now to catch the dining car & hope that waitress that doesn’t like me is off today !! [(-D]
Another unsuccessful try at posting pics this morning. As usual, the images window just freezes while opening. Sometimes it opens properly and posting is no problem. Sometimes not.
Mitch, my prayers go out to your buddy Dave.
Sideshow Fifedog, solar eclipses at your place must be a real hoot! [;)]
MITCH prayers are out to your teacher DAVE, hope all goes well.
Yesterday ran wire for light to the pick up on K-line BERSHIRE. Works great on all the time, now to get drop in board from TAS for the chuff. Did anyone here ever get those drop in boards? Are they hard to put in?
Today…No snow in the mile high city. We should reach a high near 50 today…woohoo. Yesterday I took my Lionmaster Canadian Pacific set back to the LHS. The locomotive had a slightly loud buzzing sound when the engines weren’t running. Lionel and the LHS all agreed the issue was with the locomotive. I picked up the full-size Santa Fe set and very pleased with it.
While I spend time at the LHS, the soon to be wife goes to several antique shops in the area. She found a set of 4 coffee mugs for $3 each and they are valued near $12-15 each. So she’s happy with her find and I’m happy with my train upgrade.
Today I think we’re going to take advantage of the nice weather and go to the flea market. She’s hoping her good luck will continue. For me…I’m just glad that she has something to keep her busy while I play with my train. [:)]
John, Thanks for posting the pics and the info regarding your flatcar load. I look forward to seeing the photos of the gondola load you’re working on next.
prayers for dave mitch. Just found outlast night a nieghbor here had a stroke tuesday and they have discovered 3 anerisums and a brain tumor on top of that and hes only 56. so please say prayers for him.
not to much going on today its my day to rest work 5 days to pay bill bust tail one day around house rest one day (normally anyway LOL)
Prayers and best wishes for Dave and others under the weather.
Wife left for Laughlin this morn, not back until Wednesday. Son gone to work and the playhouse doing some set redesigns, then to normal job at Knotts all day. Good Train Day ??? NO… More wallpaper removal, then acoustic ceilings. But everyday is one step closer to MY priorities.
The pics this week are great, and keep me motivated to get all this preliminary stuff done. Sure like the flat cars.
Well the steamer is a cookin’ so gotta go and get busy.
Hope everyone has a great day!
(BTW, some may remeber a couple weeks ago I posted about being “banned” on another forum? All is resolved, they had done a sweep to reduce spam, and as a result since my email address ended in a “dot com” the program thought I was spam. So they wanted to verify that I was indeed a “trainhead” (their term not mine, been called worse), the ban was lifted. LOL)
Feeling a lot better, but my head is still draining some. Praying for Dave and RT’s friend and all the rest of us, too. We have been watching some of our older DVD’s and last night got up to the 4th Lethal Weapon movie. I’d pretty much forgotten that one. Death by train - twice! Bad guys push a car in front of an oncoming train. Later they try it with our hero and he just waits until the last second and then floors it straight ahead, leaving the bad guys, who were trying to push his car with their SUV, to get hit by the train! And then by a 2nd train! I guess they never watched the PSA on the train show!
John, Be sure to post pics of your gondola loads, maybe I can steal, er borrow your idea. BTW do they tie down the gondola loads? Or do they just depend on the sides holding them in place?
Good afternoon everyone,
First some snow flurries and then the Sun was out when I came to the basement. Mild temps in the high 30s.
Has everyone seen the email goiing around with the picture of Laz’s new computer? Very nice, the knowledge just flows from it.
Mitch & Bill, Will put your friends in my prayers.
Bill & John, Thanks for the train tender info.
About to head out to the greenhouse, time to start the pepper & eggplant seed.
Been trying to keep up with the pot, not posting much. Been busy as a one armed paper hanger. Final papers and exams due in two weeks. Finished working on my truck and I’m off till this coming Thursday night. I’ve not been training much this week and going into withdrawal. Plan on playing so today after a little studying.
Cool and Sunny here, the Ohio is high but not sure how far above flood stage. Nice to be high and dry.
Just after Xmas my Vet got a kidney reading that said I was dying. Turned out some gook in the Lab read 1 as 7, I don’t know what the thing was they were measuring it was 777 but should have been 111, had a second test- 65 normal 50ish. So Robinsons can stay in business. Nevertheless Mitch my deepest best wishes for your friend, I hope it’s just a fright like I had and he recovers.
John : (jefelectric) hope that address works !! Got another load done today, except for painting the load. They really don’t tie these loads down to the car. They’re steel banded inside the gon to big pieces of wood that they set on in the car. The cross pieces of wood are up against the sides of the car & they stay real well. It’s the loads on open flat cars that sometimes get loose & we tighten up the chains on those in the yard sometimes. Here is a picture of my latest car & load before I paint the load !!
You may want to be careful using slang as over here they may have a vastly different meaning [#oops] Gook sounds too much like a racial slur against Asians[#oops]
Also a tip for talking to women from America refrain from the infamous phrase “knock you up” as over there it means can I call you but here in America you would be asking to make a baby[:O] [:O][:O]
Sorry about the post being so graphic but If I can save someone from embarassment but they may already know this.
Afternoon everyone. Had a good service this morning for early church. I hope to do a little wire work on the layout before night church. It seems the wiring is going a little slow as I have to make sure of things before I proceed. I think this is the slowest part of building.
Found out this morning that a good friends office was destroyed in the tornados. He is a orthopedic surgeon. All the equipment can be replaced, but the patient charts is the big thing. Fortunately, only a few people lost their lives.
