Hey Dennis, which Seminary did he teach at up here? There are a couple around, Lexington Theological (Presbyterian), Southern Baptist (Louisville), Vanderbilt (Nashville), and of course my personal favorite Asbury Theological Seminary. There are probably some other one’s that I’m forgetting.
Good afternoon from a sunny but cold Crystal Lake where I’ve been battling car and phone ills all day. Car needs a lot of work - but I’ll put it off for a week. Phones work now that I replaced them with corded phones. Whoops, gotta go to the dining car before going to church.
Wish I was near Prattville. I think I’d enjoy Dr. John’s sermons. Lots of learned folk on this forum.
Now I have My Sharona playing in my head. Thanks a lot.
ATSJer - “Life is like a mountain railroad, with an engineer that’s brave; we must make the run successful , from the cradle to the grave…” (Recorded by Johnny Cash and The Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band)
Gotta love engineers. I “discuss” differences of opinion with them on a frequent basis. [:-^] It is interesting when the engineer says the equation says it will do this . . . and me with 30 years experience says it will not do this, it will do that, and when the dust settles, experience usually is closer to the fact.
Got the other three trees topped, it was beautiful outside today! Cleaned rails this afternoon. Wow were they dirty. Trains runs real well. I think a good indication of conductivity is watching lighted cars like passenger cars and when the light blink something is amiss. From another thread I tried something different. I used a scotchbrite and isopropral alcohol, with a wipe rag. Worked real good, minimum effort.
There appears to be several folks here who are ministers the like. Good company. I am studing to be a Deacon for the Diocese of Columbus. I’ve got two years completed and about a year and a half to go before ordination. The classes are at the Pontifical College Josephinum. The trains are a great means of relaxing. After a rough day at work or my brain has maxed out it’s ability
The proper balence in the electronics field is 3 technicians to every engineer, the job of the techs are to fudge component values to “make” the engineers idea work.[:D]
M-m-m-m-m-my Sharona! It’s stuck in my head too! Arrrgghghg! My daughter was fine this morning, thanks! I’m feeling pretty good too, first time in a week! I’ll never share my water with some kid I don’t know again - I felt bad 'cause we were on a fieldtrip and I was there with my daughter and had some other kids assigned to us. Two kids didn’t bring water to drink so I shared [D)] Next time I’ll just tell them it’s too bad their parents don’t love them like I love my daughter and let them choke on their lunches [:O] Just kidding. Next time I’ll take extra bottles and not be so dumb as to drink after them. I got my copper cars and my caboose hooked up - need to clear some debris off my layout and play with it later. Off tomorrow, so might get some wiring done. Also need to pick up some wood for a project with my son.
John Baker - apparently your Channel 4 is going to have a documentary on teh Great Global Warming Swindle - do let us know if it’s any good!
Well once again while posting troublesome threads about Lionel Legacy I missed about 7 or 8 pages worth of posts…so here it goes…hope everyone is having a great day. And those who are not I hope it gets better.
Years ago on a bridge in NW Indiana this came close to actually happening. I was working on an adjacent project about twenty miles away. They brought the steel beams to the site and began their preparation to be placed on the piers. In this case the bridge was on a curved exit ramp and the piers followed the curve. They lifted the first beam in place and then the cussing and swearing began. The beam was too long. Measurements were taken and it was found that the piers were not at the correct skew. All construction was halted for about three months until they could design and roll new beams. It was all a surveying error. The center of the pier was in the correct location, but when they turned the 90 degree angle to set the skew of the pier either they turned the angle incorrectly or the theodolite was not accurate.
Jim, I’ve got the programme on disc(?), wont have time to watch it for a couple of days, got my neice and other half with me for a few days. Very busy, got twenty years to catch up on.
I have graphic designer ‘friends’ that laugh about this stuff! OK…if I make a mistake then its red and should have been blue…If you make a mistake…
And we both get paid the same???
Kurt
PS HEY wait a minute. Those 2-beams in the center look like they line up! Just move the other ones over. I’d blame the contractor…The drawings don’t look like that. ALL the beams line up on the drawings.
The temps the next few days are supposed to be mild. High 40’s low 50’s. Finally! I think I’ll change the oil in my car this weekend.
My Sharona . . . Had a lot of great times in the back seat of my 76 LTD while that song played on the 8-track. I was dating a girl named Sharon at the time. I saw her recently. She didn’t age well! [(-D]
Jim Fortner - don’t ever, ever, ever, ever drink or eat after a kid! Not even your own! They are disgusting little germ factories.
The kids and I hooked up our free HO trains last night and set a train on the tracks. Nothing. So I cleaned the rails with a bright boy and lubed the loco. It started running. Slow at first but each lap got faster and stronger. Eventually got all three units running. An F3, a steamer, and a trolley. I’m going to buy some of the new HO track with plastic roadbed this weekend.
I continued my coal dragging ways last night. Had a 2018 pulling 15 hopper cars. It did it with ease! 12 volts and it was humming right along at a pretty good clip! And it was smoking like the Chief had worked on it!!
Maybe tonight I’ll take apart my PE Berk’s smoke unit and tune it up.
