Happy St. Patty’s Day!Been a good day. I slept later than usual and then we had to head to the park for a party for one of my 4yo’s classmates. I used to get into St. Pat’s a lot more, but that was when I was in the fire dept. and prior to having a family of my own. I actually am half Irish and my wife is Irish/cherokee. My great grandfather was notorious for the IRA, they called him Mad Dog O’Donovan…I won’t get into the exploits, but it goes back to the 1916 Easter Rebellion. See, rebels go way back in our family.
Got to get some lawn work done with the tractor and hopefully train work tonight. It is warm out, but I don’t think it will be too bad. Hope Y’all in the great white north get dug out from that white stuff. Down here, the only white on the ground is the cotton fields.
hey to all and i hope is well with everyone. my prayers go out to all that need them and who will need them in the near future. god bless.
it has been a long grusom 2 weeks in dallas as i had to complete my training for truck driving and i finally graduated yesterday and i am officially a truck driver now. i haven’t been on the site in the past week or so but i’m back now for a day in memphis as i have to get ready for my first load tomorrow at 2:00 and guys and gals am i ready for it. sorry to say that i want be making to the north and northeast as they gave me a dedicated route that only covers arkansas. tennessee, louisana, eastern texas, mississippi, northern alabama, kentucky, southern missouri, and southern illinois. they gave me this route because i was farther ahead with my driving skills and plus i will be home every other night and garaunteed the weekends. there are pros and cons to this as i will get to see my family alot more, i don’t have to traval in all the bad weather, i get payed a little more starting out, and i will have the same routes all the time. now the cons is and there is only one i want get to come and see all the wonderful layouts that you guys and gals have and are willing to let me come and see. other than that all is well at the home front and i get to go and play with my trains for at least a day. then back to work. thats all for now hope all is well.
All sounds great for you reggie . Lost my cdl because of defiberlator implant but I was only class B . Still work same job just different duties so I’m Happy. (that was a year ago.)
Kinda cold here but no snow or in chiefs case grits.
Dropped in to wish everyone a very happy St. Patrick’s Day…
Unfortunately this poor guy didn’t make it around the club layout, my memory wasn’t correct so the shamrock stood just a we’ tad to tall. As the Cub fans always say “There’s always next year”.
Now to put on some coffee so I can go back and catch up on the 100 or so pages I think I missed.
Congratulations Reggie !! You sound like you will like the job & that’s a good thing !! Who knows, someday you may change jobs & make runs up here !! [:D]
RT : I have the class B liscense also for work. Physical time again next week for me, that part I don’t look forward to.
Congratulations Reggie! It does seem that you have your priorities in line. Family needs to be at the top, job next. Remember, they are only young once and you want to be there for the growing years. As to layout visits, you will have plenty on this side of the mason dixon line.
A late Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all of you! It was a cold but sunny day in SE Indiana with the wind blowing a lot. Congrats to Reggie on completing the training! My wife and I went to see “Astronaut Farmer”, which is a good movie. I hope everyone had a good day.
I just got back from my friends house, where we played XBOX360, and then brought out the little kids in us and played hide and go seek. It was a good night. Anyways, I walked in the door, and turned on the Speed Channel. I have to say that I jut saw the closest GT2 Class race win. Ferrari F430 vs Porsche GT2 or 3. Porsche passes the Ferrari in a turn, gets a little bit of a lead, and the Ferrari gets a little nose ahead. Porsche goes to the inside of the turn (a good place to be) and the Ferrari is now a little behind. The Porsche then goes wide, and the Ferrari comes up the inside, and they bump each other. The Ferrari then grabbed the win by a matter of feet. I was really happy, especially since I caught the end.
Reggie, Glad to here everything is falling into place for you. Sounds like a good gig as long distance driving goes. I to have a CDL, planning to let it expire when my license comes up for renewal as I have not used it for a while. Had it when I was working as I would occasionally drive the digger/derick.
Chief, Be nice, don’t ya know we arranged the bad weather in PA for this weekend so you wouldn’t have to put up with it next week when you come to Harrisburg.
Colin, I see you straightened out those guys on the other thread on the F3 / F7 question. [:)]
REGGIE gonga on the passing of your BIG RIG license.
Well went to gun show at the FARM SHOW COMPLEX, great show over a thousand tables lots to see. Brother got a good deal on a Springfield Armory SOCOM I. He’s been trying to get one for the past three years. Real hot item and he figured what the heck, you can’t find these guns and we’ved tried. I picked up a 5x magnifying glass with flexable light for doing solder work on the trains. Got it for 22 bucks. Had great time, 6 of us went then went to sports bar ate wings, stroblois, and beer, while watching NCAA basketball. To bad MARYLAND got dumped, had them going all the way in the pool. Oh well maybe next year?
Reg - congrats, man! You might want to look into one of those satellite radios so you could listen to some good radio and not have to keep switching stations? A bunch of my co-workers have them now and they can mount in your car, so I guess they’d be good in your truck too?
Hey, my brother-in-law works for Bank of America. They are closing the “desk” in Chicago and he will be moving his family from Naperville to either New York City (doesn’t want to go there) or NORTH CAROLINA! How about working up some prayers, guys - sounds like some grim choices to be made! [;)]
as long as its not roseville it would be nice in N.C. or anywhere within say 30 miles of it the rest of the state it very nice better than N.Y.City N.Y. some real nice places too.
Mornin’ boys. Man the refrigerator is loud, can sombody turn it down? Just coffee for me, Maam, and just keep it coming… By the way, whose Big ORANGE rig is that out front? Guess we won’t be seeing Buckeye this morning. Hopefully he took that lampshade off before passing out.
88 - if your new acquisition is tormenting you, we can always stretch it out over here…
It is a frosty 25 degrees. Looks like the sun is trying to come out. It is suppose to go up to 42 today, with some sunshine.
Today, some of us will be recovering from St. Patrick’s Day. I will be taking it easy, with a few things to do, and then running trains for a few hours, this afternoon. I plan on watching the NASCAR race from Atlanta. This is going to be a busy week for us. New kitchen carpeting is coming on Friday and we have to get things ready for it. Lotsa work.
Dining Car is here early. No stops " points west ". Guess they are sleeping in today.
Well its 25 degress, clear with a NW wind around 4 mph, expected to reach 45 and partly cloudy today, which will be a nice change since we don’t need any more rain. My NCAA tourney bracket is shot all to pieces, I think I’m hitting at about 53%; my wife is doing better than I am right now, and she picks by feeling [:(!]. I keep telling her that she can’t pick someone to loose just because she doesn’t like the team, but hey who am I to say now right?! She was one of the few that actually had Duke going out in the first round, and the only reason she picked them to get beat is because she’s still harboring a grudge against them for the Christian Laettner shot in the 1992 NCAA tourney against Kentucky.
Anyways, good Sunday all, busy day scheduled here, might as well get at it.
