CLOSED////////The Coffee Pot is still on and over 3 years. Here we gather as friends with trains.

Sorry to keep posting. But the weekend is starting to come back into focus. I had a lot of wine yesterday! Saturday night I was home with the 2 boys, who were sleeping. So I took apart our 2037 for a good cleaning and lube. I also wanted to replace the pill-type smoker element that wasn’t working. All went very well. The hardest part of the whole procedure was getting the shell back on! The smoke unit was clogged with old gunky residue and the piston was sticking. Cleaned out the bowl and placed fiberglass insulation under the element. The new smoker element is working great, and the 2037 was hauling 8 passenger cars around the layout with ease!

Also saw Meet the Robinsons at the movies, and The Lake House on TV. Both were very good. The Sopranos stunk!

Morning all. Still very chilly here in NC - hopefully only one more night of below freezing temps sent down from the nawth. Had a very nice Easter with all my family over for Ham, roast beef, green beans, corn, sweet potato casserole, potato salad, yeast rolls, and coconut cake. Lot’s of sweet ice tea to wash it all down! Ran trains for a while for the g’son and great-nephew!

Dogwoods, forsythia, and azaleas in full bloom; managed to save them so far, but the grape vine bit the dust! Here’s a picture of one of some of the dogwoods under a gorgeous Carolina Blue Sky and Old Glory waving in the breeze!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Lisa

Morning all… hope everyone had a wonderful Easter (we had Easter weather for Christmas and Christmas weather for Easter) [%-)][V] Someone needs to stop playing with the dials up above!

Sleep study tonight at the hospital… which means no sleep for me!

Not much else going on… home inspection on Wednesday…

Brent

Morning all from cloudy N Texas. 45 this morning and headed to 60 today. Then 70’s the rest of the week and maybe a shower or two [8D].

Lisa - nice photo. No freezes here. The nawthern aggression fake GRITS raid (ie frozen precipitation) was successfully repelled.

We had a nice dinner here yesterday afternoon at my wife’s sisters home. Ham, green beans, fresh baked bread, chocolate dipped strawberries and hot apple pie! One of her daughters just had a baby so my wife got to hold her 14 day old girl for a while. The best part was my 13 year old son holding the baby. We are trying to get ahold of the picture of that!

No trains yesterday - too busy and too full!

Lisa - Beautiful picture !!!

Morning all, what was to be a busy day today has turned around. Unfortunately I have to take one of our dogs to the vet. She is having problems walking and just doesn’t seem herself. She is only 7 years old, so the hips are not the problem.

If all goes well at the vets, I plan on doing some track work tonight.

Good morning from a chilly Chicago where it is simultaneously snowing and sunny and I got to ride the train in with hordes of already-inebriated Cubs fans for their home opener. Sheesh, we good Sox fans would never act like that. I got to run the trains a bit on Sunday in between the honey-baked ham, with a horse-radish and cranberry sauce, pop-up buns, green beans almondine, potato and cheese casserole, and homemade fruit cocktail with blueberries, peaches and cantelope. Ice cream sundaes for dessert. My kids just don’t appreciate this cooking. Speaking of appreciation, I am thinking of raiding my wife’s mostly-forgotten plastic flower collection to see I can can cobble up things to dissuade the cats from poking around key places on the layout.

Nice photo, Lisa, reminds me of something called Spring.

Hi GIZ,

Hope all had a nice EASTER. Went to MOMs and Inlaws for dinner supper. All good stuff to eat. MOMs flying out to Escondido on Wednesday to stay with sis for a couple of weeks.

No trains till Saturday, got to do some work and go fish friday nite.

All have a good one.

Sounds like a good Easter was had by everyone! After church had a brunch with family at the Harbor, expensive but really good. Chris had to work at Knotts, in-laws spent the afternoon relaxing here, watched Troy, and The DaVinci Code. No train work.

Off to the office, think will make a list of companys and things to look for at York.

Long term forcast for York ---- Sunny, and mild. Laz, your MOM might find it a little cool here only in the mid 60’s this week.

Morning all. Youngest went to hospital around 4:30 Am [phone call]. Was sent home with Ambien and told to come back later today. Pam and her Mom are leaving for Wilmington at noon. Probably be Granddad by night or at least midnight.

Lisa, be careful posting those pretty photos. Already have enough Yanks moving down here as it is. More will be wanting to come South. [8D]

Nice to sit and watch fishing on TV and type on forum [and Pam working on internet on desktop].

Wife just came in and switched to QVC. Birkenstocks shoes on. Those women are something. They are A M A Z I N G and come in blue. [censored][banghead][(-D]

They leave in an hour!!!

Spring has arrived!!! They are mowing the grass around the office! Interestingly, the guy running the riding mower is wearing a snowmoble suit.[:D]

Did you guys see the photos from Jacob’s Field? I was told this am that the game is on for today. Spankybird, Keith and John are seeing areas with 18" of snow on the ground in the sharp corner of Ohio.

Easter Egg hunts were a great success this weekend in Ohio. It was much easier to find the brightly colored eggs in the white snow than the green grass.

Did you see that Iowa boy down there at Augusta? Good Iowa kid from the reports.

Found lightbulb for my Williams Engine at Smokestake Hobbies in Lancaster, Ohio, the home of the Chief’s good friend, Billy Sherman. Makes a world of difference. I also tinted the windows of the cab. BTW, for you guys looking for some great deals on PS1 locomotives, they have a bunch that they are trying to get rid of.

Wife’s knee is getting better. I passed a small part of the kidney stone yesterday morning, so things are heading the right way.

OH, I almost forgot. Tomorrow is Spankybird Tom’s Birthday. [bday]

See ya down the tracks!

Don’t worry Chief, Maryland is as far South as I’m moving! The South is pretty and all, but ya’ll talk with a funny accent! [:)]

Furthest South I’ve ever lived is San Antonio, TX… strange lot those Texans are… think their state comprises 75% of the US… hmmm…

Brent

Brent, if you talk to them southerners long enough, you almost get used to it!

Happy Birthday, Tom!!! Have a great day tomorrow! [bday]

Jim

Thanks DON, but anything is better then the low 30s she’s had all weekend. She loves it out there, goes every year bout this time. Her and sister going to VEGAS a few days, then seeing her favorite sites in S CAL.

Off to the doc’s for an exam. My eyes have been bothering me. See you all tomorrow. Have a great Monday!

Jim

Some area’s have 30 plus inches. Keith and I luck out with only 6 to 8" at our house. At work we had about 15" this morning. Chardon and Solon at over 30" and they are only about 10 miles from us.

Thanks for the early birthday wishes!

[bday]Tom !! Oh, we only got maybe 2 inches of snow here & about the same at work, in Ashtabula. Lots of snow all around us though, just not here !! That’s “Lake Effects” I guess ![:D]

They are moving The Indians games to Milwaukee !! Watch them get a snow storm there now !! [(-D]

Oh, did The Chief say he will be a Grandpa pretty soon ? !! [:D] Great !!

Hope everyone has a nice evening !!

Thanks, John

[bday]Tom, Hope you have a great one. Anyway, just finished watching Trains and Locomotives on RFD-TV, it was on the C&LE traction. Nice shots of those cars moving along at 90. Took the dog to the vet…just some joint issues mixed with that yankee cold weather they sent down. After a little honey do list, I am heading up to the train room with my son. Hope to get some wiring done.

Dennis

Good evening everyone,

This weekend was great. I was outside most of the time, playing soccer, and manhunt. Nothing new on the train front, besides getting a rather large Williams catalog in the mail.

Overall it was a great week. I had off today, and I got out last Wednesday, I had a half day. I went golfing with my dad and his friends on Friday. Saturday I was at a few friend houses.

Now yesterday was alright, until early this morning. My dad is in the hospital again, because of stomach pains. Its not bad, but a he will be over night so he can be monitored.

I see some of my Ohio friends got some snow. We had a few flurries, but nothing too bad.

Bruce, regarding your caboose thread, I have the same one, but I haven’t used it in a while. Mine, however, has a switch built in for use on command, and conventional layouts.

Now, I am waiting for Future Weapons, CSI:Miami, and 24 to come on. Another hour. and I will be good.

Hi guys and glad to hear all had a good Easter, but sorry Chuck was stuck at home. Did the Honey Baked Ham at my Mom and Dad’s and the kids had a great time. Found out my youngest sister the opera singer will be an associate professor at Drake, so right after their wedding they will be moving to Des Moines, Iowa. So, this time next year I’ll have sisters in North Carolina, Iowa and Georgia, with the rest of us still here in MO. Back to work today and the temps finally went up a little, but supposed to be freezing again tonight.

Happy Birthday, Tom!
