Doug M, Lionel is putting out a new box cab electric in PRR livery. It looks pretty nice! Interested in getting one? I think I’m in. Anyone else liking these little electrics?

Clearing up the mess left by the rather stiff breeze we had yesterday, 13 dead, thousands of buildings damaged, flights, highways and railroads disrupted, all rather unpleasant. Weathermen say more to come and then snow next week.
Some idiot has introduced a super heavy shopping trolley in the delusion that it will help people to lose weight. So when folks with heart and respiratory conditions start dropping dead, will they blame it on global warming?
TGIF to all you guys (and gals) slaving for a living, have a good weekend and keep them on the high iron.
Bakeer - I was just about to post an ALL POINTS BULLETIN on you and daan. I was figuring you guys got slammed pretty good. Not exactly tourist season, eh?
Wow, do you have a link to the new Box cab, Jim? One can never have too many electrics.
Pre-tinned wire. What a great idea!
Morning gang. Sun is out and warming fast. Repeled a Yankee invasion again. [:D] Say we may get another one this Sunday. Those Yanks never give up trying to send us their bad weather. [;)] [problem is I think this one is coming from Roy’s area, cold air from up Nawth, anything COLD comes from Yankeeland]. Do some wiring and enhancements on layout today. Got to get expenses emailed and book some flights for the coming events.
Lion, check out the recommendation on the Soldering Station in the Soldering Thread. Old Penny Pincher Apitz will get you in trouble, trying to get you out CHEAP. [;)]
Glad to see John B back. Man it took forever to read all the posts I missed for 36 hours [when I got home yesterday]. Think the Pot will be larger than the old one by the end of the year. Got lots of good new posters. [^]
Later
DOUG,
Sounded like one NASTY PILE UP. Hope DA BEARS don’t get into a pile up like dat[;)] on Sunday?

Good morning from beautiful, cold and snowy OHIO. Yes, the white stuff is flying. [yeah]
Yesterday, placed an order from the Lionel, Vol 2, 2006 catalog for a non-powered Chessie GP-30 to run behind my powered unit. BTW, my Lionel GP-30 is one great engine with RS 5.0. An interesting option is hitting the AUX 5 key while the engine is moving down the track. Tower communications shouts out to the engine to come to an emergancy stop. As far as I can tell this isn’t documented in the instruction. I found it by accident when I hit the wrong key in the dark. [#oops]
I’m contemplating adding TAS EOB to my Lionel FT A-B-A locomotives. The TAS videos only demonstrate the EOB in steamers. Great looking steamers, I might add.
Train show, hockey games, and football playoffs this weekend. Life doesn’t get much better. Sorry, my eastern Ohio train buddy must entertain his family and can’t make the show.
Need to hit the LHS today for some track and bumpers. Did some wiring last night. (Chief, the suitcase taps are still working perfect.)
See ya down the tracks,
Oh, great! One more annoyance in the malls and big box stores. Most shopping doddlers can’t get out of the way fast enough for my liking. And those huge " push the whole fam damily" type carts! They’re always parked in the busiest isles. Speaking of parking, I can only imagine the damage done by a windblown super heavy shopping trolley slamming into my car.
OK…I’ll take a pill
Good Morning all!

BUCKEYE,
You could be in the next OLD MILWAUKEE commercial,
“IT DOESN"T GET ANY BETTER THEN THIS.”

GIZ,
By doing some calculations and this is day 19 of the month of January, and we have already 43 pages at the pot, that is 2.2631577 pages per day times 365 days we should be at 826 at Dec.31,2007?
I wonder if this torrent of words will hold up?
Boy I have a lot of time on my hands huh?

Couldn’t have said it better myself! [:)]
Chief,
Already saw the recommendation… heading out at lunch to pick up the soldering supplies!
Buckeye,
I’ll let you know how this upgrade goes… One thing I have noticed - the EOB sensor is attached to the motor, the flywheel in the pic has much more surface area to mount the Tach to and I’m not sure mine is going to work well…
When MaryE did his PE upgrade from ERR he said it didn’t have a Tach, that is very interesting… they didn’t responde to my inquiries before I had already purchased the TAS EOB so here’s hoping this goes well. I wonder if the ERR upgrades are compatible with the TAS upgrades… I like the TAS TMCC and fan-driven-smokers, but the ERR tachless cruise really has me interested…
Laz, You sure do, need to spend more time running trains. I stopped in at Barry’s yesterday, didn’t see anything new and exciting. Looked at a “Steelton” Beep but resisted. Chatted with Mike and another customer for a while, Barry was there for a few seconds before retiring to the back room. [:)]
Brent, The clamps Roger mentioned are hemostats, they are available at most all trains shows and some LHS. Back in the 50s we used them to clamp the fuel lines on our control line combat planes with pressurized fuel tanks. Back then you had to buy them at a surgical supply house and they were not cheap, paid more back then, then now. They are one of the handiest hobby tools I ever owned. Have about half dozen of different shapes.
John Baker, Hang in there and stay warm. How is your cold doing? Is the medication working?
Sounds like everyone is running trains. I set up my two Atlas, Jersey Central GP-9 as a lashup. They sure do run great. Smoke pouring our of 4 stacks. They pull like crazy. Have 14 heavy cars on the train and they don’t even slow. The 4 motors only draw a little over an amp. [:)]When I last set up my two Lionel trainmasters with pullmor motors they draw almost 8 amps. [:(]
Well if I want to g
Thanks John!
BTW - Laz, John, Mitch, et all in SEPA…
While I was at the York trainshow I ran into a fellow who was looking at the C&O F-19, the seller had the Chessie TMCC Cranesounds caboose, but no TMCC crane. The buyer mentioned that some LHSs had both the Crane and Caboose… I would be interested in either the Chessie, Conrail, or MoW versions… have any of you seen these lately and if so where?
Much appreciated.
Brent
LIONROAR 88,
BRENT, I’ll check today when I go to the tain shop.

Why you . . . I bought a 40 watt iron and a holder with sponge for less than $15.00! Solder and tip tinner was another $10.00. Of course, my iron isn’t adjustable. It’s either hot or not.
Jim
Had some friends from Denver, CO send us several pics this morning from a 1913 blizzard and I immediately thought of Doug and his love for trolley’s. Enjoy.
Jon
I would like to know if the ERR cruise control is a drop in. The EOB system by TAS is supposed to be a drop in system that replaces the original Lionel board. ??? Plug and play ??? I also like the idea that ERR is promoting about the tachless cruise and synchronizing motors.
For those of you who haven’t used the cruise control features now available, well, I must say I had my doubts, but now I’m a believer. (Wasn’t that an old Monkey’s song?)
I would be interested to know more about the ERR board. EOB by TAS is NOT Plug and Play! It replaces the original Lionel board, BUT you have to cut thw #24 pin on the mainboard, then solder a wire from the EOB board to the #24 pin, you then solder another wire from the EOB board to the #24 pin on the back of the RDLC board. Those are the two biggest mods. The other problem I can foresee with the TAS is the tach… making sure the LED sensor is .030" from the tack strip and making sure the EOB sensor board doesn’t move. The TAS board also includes the option to convert the standard smoking puffer from 2 puffs per chuff, to 4 puffs per chuff - more realistic. I haven’t decided if I am making this mod yet or not - it requires disconnecting the smoke unit plug (or cutting a wire), and then solder the last wire from the EOB board to the #17 pin on the back of the RDLC board…
Buckeye, I am at the soldering step, and have pics of just about everything I have done. Once you start cutting pins and soldering there is NO going back!
READ THIS IS A NONE REVERSABLE MODIFICATION!
Knowing most of the experts are here … I can’t find a suitable cab forward in O scale . Want to rebuild an engine in appropriate drive scheme to be one . Question is … since I was HO man most of my life … can a O scale engine be rewired to run as a full functioning cab forward ? In other words when I place controller in forward it will actually run in reverse and in reverse it will run forward. A fellow here locally said get one with a lockout but I want forward and reverse without programming my tmcc as I sometimes take my engines to places without those facilities. I can easily build the brass compartment/cab face and change couplers with modifications to modify one but am wondering if only rewiring the motor will do it . Would rather use one of the modern tmcc engines and need all input you learned fellows can give me . [sigh]
If it can’t be done easily with tmcc … I’ll go with another type engine.
