CLOSED////////The Coffee Pot is still on and over 3 years. Here we gather as friends with trains.

WHY? It was a B&M converstion bought by B&M. Just decal over it.

Morning. Slept good. Turned A/C down and pulled up the sheet and the termo blanket. Woke up and room was cold. Ran to A/C and turned it up. then ducked back under covers. Now up. Had planned to go to Dr. John’s Church but got to get ready for store and pack up. Fly out this PM. Got big seats from Charlotte to RDU [35 minutes]. No big seats on little jet from here to Charlotte. Got exit row so extra leg room. Flight here, no one next to me so had two seats to spread out. Maybe same today. Hope our friends in the mid-west are OK with all the big rains. Later

I have been pretty busy lately and have lots of catching up to do on the Coffee Pot but I want to introduce folks to

Our grandson:

Zachary Grant Roberts

Born: August 14, 2007 2:11AM

Weight: 7 lbs, 7 ounces

Length: 20 inches

Here are a few pictures.

The proud parents.

Grandma Karen

Grandpa Greg

Above pictures were taken later Tuesday afternoon. I was allowed to hold Zachary when he was only about an hour old. That was INCREDIBLE! I didn’t hold my children when they were that young.

Mother and baby are home now and doing fine.

Just to keep this somewhat train related, I already ordered his first train set. It is a special Christmas promotion that the company I work for is selling this year. A wood train set similar to the Brio items. We will most likely not give it to him until his first birthday or maybe wait until Christmas 2008.

CONGRATS. Spoil him and then give him back to parents. [(-D] Now you have a train partner. One problem, that middle name. [;)]

Off to the store.

Cogratulations Doug !! You’ll have a great partner now with a really great name !! [:D]

Thanks, John

Congratulations, Greg !!!

Fine middle name.

Woo Hoo another train partner just the best thing to have. [angel]

Good Morning!

Went to the Lake Worth FL Train Show yesterday just south of the Palm Beach International Airport. Pretty good turnout even with little or no advertising by the Southern Division of the TCA, Arnie T. got grilled by members as to why there was almost NO advertising anywhere in Florida or in CTT mag. about the event, I just finished looking in the last two issues of CTT under events and NO information about the Lake Worth show.

Sold a few things at the show but expected a better turnout! Found a locmotive that I want to add to ny fleet at the show but didn’t have enuff cash on hand for it so I am going to try buying it by mail from the guy. Did buy a Lionel signal light for $3.00, needs light bulbs, also bought another Reading boxcar(Atlas brand, my first modern Atlas in O gauge), got a part on order for one of my older Lionel steam locomotives from Brian the parts guy.

Weather here is like a clam bake in New England, you would think that you were the clam in the pot as it is that hot & humid here. Just hope that Hurrircane Dean don’t head to Texas as they got more than enuff rain lately. Speaking of Texas how is Bob Nelson? Hope he didn’t get flooded out!!

Good Morning/Afternoon All -

Doug - Good job regarding the blowout! That’s really gets spooky with all the traffic. BTW yesterday when I was returning from La Jolla about 2pm, I couldn’t believe the south bond traffic! It was bumper to bumper from Del Mar all the way up to Irvine. There just can’t be any parking spots in SD, there were more cars than will fit. Or maybe it was workers going home from the weekend, in Mex.?

John Bakeer - Glad to see you back. You and Nick bring a civility to the forum, so you guys need to post more often for the neutralizing affect generated by our Grits ridden brethern.

Sir James - I had the same reaction when I attended the 30 yr reunion, too many old people, so left after 1/2 hour and havn’t gone back. But, also the graduating class I was in had 2,000 kids. So you really didn’t know anyone anyway.

CSXect - I’m curious how many times have you been back to Cracker Barrel looking for that blond?

The Great Southern Gentleman - Ok, Chiefie is in the middle, now who’s who?

Scott -[#welcome] Most of the guys here are full of a lot of hot air, so when you want the real story, I will be glad to fill you in. My posts are always, accurate, informative, and timely. AND I DON’T YOUSE GRITS. Seriously, welcome to a great group!!!

Nick - That room has taken NO time at all. When are we having a party?

John F - E-town Fair? How many people attend? You, Jean, Paul & family, G-Kids, a couple of horses, hmmm a real home town event.

GregM - CONGRATS, Sir. Be sure to get that new baby smell all over you. I hear it’s better than AXE with the ladies…

Gongrats on the baby. My little brakeman is 19 months. The cutest thing is when he bangs on the basement gate and yells Woo-Woo’s and I have to take him down and run the trains for him. Having a little girl in November can’t afford a Lionel Girls Set so the Williams set is looking good. Good thing too now when the wife yells about the trains I keep bringing in the house 1 sentence is all I need “It’s for the Baby”

“Daddy I want this one”

Since I left work on Friday there has been 4 pages of posts, and other four worth mentioning… [:-^]

H(.)(.)TERS! [:-^]

[#welcome]back John Bakeer, about time! Nick was beginning to think he was the only Englander left on the board…

[#welcome] Scott… stay away from Chief… he likes to hang out in outhouses and swamps, sometimes at the same time! [:O]

GregM - Congrats!!!

No work on the shed all weekend. Had Susan’s party yesterday and stabbed myself in the hand while seperating burgers… hurts today… took a lot to get it to stop bleeding.

Susan is upstairs sleeping… she got sick at the butcher yesterday morning and while I was in the bank depositing money. I told her she wouldn’t have to go to the butcher with me any more, and I can take care of banking, since both seem to make her sick… [;)] She said she was fine at the bank, it is just the heat, so she can continue banking… [:(] And she has to monitor me to make sure I don’t buy any more trains!

Watching ‘They died with their boots on’ on TCM, good telling of George Armstrong Custer’s career, a bit glamorized, but good flick…

88 - watch that hand for infection, Bro. Sooooo, any NEWS yet?[:-^]

GregM - Congratulations!

Fife - I wish Doug Murphy would send some rain down/over to us! It keeps raining just north or south of us and lawn is looking pretty sad now. Need to water again I guess.

Spankybird, that is a big layout! 4 minutes flat out??? I wish I had that kind of realestate.

Good luck Lee - hope you get your locomotive from the guy.

Don - how about some pics of the benchwork? I was thinking, you could route the trim work so it comes in on the sides at the top and fills up around the plywood.

Phil - looks like a nice locomotive your grandson picked out! I see he likes the 1:1 models more than 1:48! I’d try to break him of the rivet-counting thing early! [:-,]

GregM - Congratulations on the new arrival!

Jim/Don - Would you belive the gamesroom is actually around two weeks behind due to all the rain we have had. Hope to have a party next spring when we get it all finished inside and FIL gets his Seeburg Jukebox sorted out. Hopefully my son Charlie and I will have the layout baseboards built and track/electrics up and running by then. Hope to have a BBQ and I’ll lay in a stock of Anchor Steam[:)]. Leaves you guys plenty of time to save up those Airmiles[;)]

Have a good Sunday all

Nick

[#ditto] Thats why I have made a decision only to post when I absolutly want to. I know nobody wants to talk to me, and I respect that. Like Fife said, we all have things on our plates… [:-^]

My only question is, and please answer this, do yall want me aroud or not?

Afternoon to all,

First would be congrats to Greg M & family.

Don B, 2000 in your class, yikes we had apx.225 and about 100 showed last nite not to bad for 50 yrs. Sadly there are 32 known to be deceased. We had a good time and nobody rich enough to have a young companion. I promised a report thats it.

We have had a slow drizzle/rain today and its really needed as much of the state has been under a outdoor fire ban. grilling was allowed. also we have a forest fire way up north thats been burning over a week now.I don’t think this rain is reaching them though.

No trains today, resting. Sir James

Grayson, you do it to your self. Don’t be so paranoid.

Sitting in the mighty Montgomery Regional Airport. Has KLM, Delta, Continental, US Airways and some more. Tiny airport and the smallest I have ever been in [including Palm Springs]. Lots of runways. Has Air National Guard unit with a few C130’s and a couple of F16’s. Just got buzzed three times by two F16’s and then they landed. Killing time as flight is not until 4:50 CDT. No keoshes and TSA takes your bag and puts it on a table in front of you. Opens it up and “wands” it and closes it up. Then it goes to baggage area. Told the lady I was not use to such personal service. She laughed and said I was being polite. Went through security. Told screeners that I wished every airport was this way. I was the only person in line so I could take my time. We all chatted and etc. Now sitting in little business center at the gate. Tried to sit at gate and use internet. Wireless kept going in and out. Guess antenna is in here.

Got first class from Charlotte to RDU. Big deal. Hope flight is not late getting to Charlotte as I have 50

Has anyone heard from Lisa lately? Not much happening today . Move a lot of junk to storage as I said to wife can you say yard sale???

Yes, first grandchild. Hopefully not the last.

Afternoon all!

Doug - hope the eye heals quickly.

rrtraincollector - good to see you back.

Welcome to the new folks - stick around!

Don B - Been really busy the past few days which is why I have not had time to post. In addition to the problems below, I have also been doing some layout wiring for a custom a friend of mine is doing, so that has kept me busy.

Had to hire a lawn sprinkler company to find two valves (idiot home ower before me had them buried all over the yard instead of being in a central manifold box) I could not locate. One was leaking. It took them approx 8 hours of digging and using a test signal device (we found out they do not work when the valves are buried like mine). Finally found them - front yard looks like a trencher went wild. The bill for this is gonna be very bad for my checkbook.

Daughter’s Taurus acting up. Loses all electrical power like the battery is disconnected. Only happens when it is really hot outside and the car has sat and heat soaked for a while. Jumping it does nothing. Battery is good. It has 13 volts on it when the car is dead. Tapping the fuse block under the hood will cause it to work again. Checked all wires - all good, clean, and tight. Checked Battery terminals - good, clean , and tight. Took battery terminals loose and cleaned them with wire battery brush anyway - no difference. Checked the two negative wires from battery to frame and battery to starter motor - good, clean, and tight. I suspect a bad fuse - but could not find one. Weird. Still under Extended Service Plan so dropped it off tonight for the dealer to look at it tomorrow.

BTW - also took a heat gun to the fuse block area (including the giant Ford Mega-Fuse on the fuse block) after idling the car and heating up the engine to simulate a really hot day (temps here have dropped from 100’s to low 90’s) and could not make it fail.

BTW2 - when the car is dead I mean dead. No radio, no lights (interior or exterior), no horn, no elec windows, no el

A fine looking group.

Greg M, Congratulations on the grandson.

Doug M, A speedy recovery with the eye problem.

Don B, The E-town Fair draws about 25-30K if the weather is good for the 7 day run. Since there is no admission charge there is no hard count but that is the estimate. Unfortunately the first four days are predicted to have showers off and on. So far (today) it has been right on. Sun has not been out at all today, but only about 1/10" of rain.

Take care,
