Afternoon all, Went to a swapmeet today in Peterborough, haven’t been to one in ages. No Lionel around[:(]. At least it made it a cheap couple of hours[:)]. One stall had Hornby Mallard 00 gauge live steam sets brand new boxed on sale for £250. That’s a real deal as they were £500 when they came out. Interesting but now I am a 3 rail convert nothing less than a Ace Mallard would cut it[:D]. Quiet a lot of US outline HO at the meet starting to recognise all the US loco types…
Bought a couple of books on sale from UK Amazon this week. The Fastrack book (see what everyone was on about with some of the trackplans) and Lionel Americas Favorite Toy Train which is a good read. Now I understand a bit more of the background about the MTH/Lionel situation.
Nick12DMC Yeah, a swap meet can be good inexpensive entertainment when there is nothing to buy. I often go to antique shops just to see what they have…kind of like an ever changing museum.
Doug- On tying down the track, how about putting the glue down then screw into the glue while still soft (but not through foam to board)? Then you get the best of both worlds. One could even glue a very thin piece of wood (think vinear) to the foam and attache screw to that.
i know you said you will post more sites, but i have a couple questions. is there a particular site that i can buy engines just like the ones in the picture. also do ou think they make them in a canadian national paint scheme.
Hello All! Colin- Sorry that your Father is back in the Hospital again, More prayers will be said for him also. He is fortunate to have you as his son. Take Care. Laz- I thought you knew that Lizard Litter is dried up Grit’s that changes into a composition that Lizard’s & Cat’s love to use & you’ll have to wear a mask so that you do not breathe in any dangerous dust while using it![;)][;)][:O][:P][:o)][:o)] Crawdads probably like it as well so they can mix it with water & build a shelter with also.[;)][;)] What’s this about Alien sightings near Roseyville[alien]? They must be keeping an eye on the Chief so that he will not take over the World with Grit’s as they do not want any competition at all.[;)][8D][:P][:o)][:o)] Take Care all.
Works for balsa to 1/4" and basswood to 3/16". I’ve had one for years and would not want to do without it. They have cheaper model with a masoneite base instead of this cast aluminum model as well. It comes with jigs for 30, 45 & 60 degrees. You can make them for any angle from sheet wood or styrene. I made all the cuts on my stockyard with this.
glad to hear your dad is doing great and at home with the people who love him the most. thanks for the site link. one more ? i tried the link you gave but the only engines it showed where rs3 or 7 one of the two. i also tried google to but the engines i’m most interested in are the one’s that are in the pics posted by csx30. if you could. please help me find a company that sales them or do you have to scratch build them yourself if thats the case i know why i cant find them online.
Reggie : The guy that owns those 2 N&S engines was at the club layout by Tom ( Spankybird) this past summer, hauls them in a big trailer & they are remote controlled & even have sounds of the real diesel eng. I will try to run down more info on the Co. that manufactures them through the club or something. Will get back to you as soon as I find out something !! That club is affliated with the OTTS & Museum .
ok thanks will be patiently waiting. me and the wifey are headed to the hospital tonight as she will be induced to go in labor, and my preciuos little girl will finally be here either tonight or tomorrow. ohh i cant wait. i will finally be a dad at the tender age of 27. do you guys think i waited to long to get started, as i’m not getting any younger
Reggie : Try here, I think if you scroll all the way down, you can get most of the manufacturers of these engines ! Hope this helps, I can’t seem to get the web-site for the Lake Shore Steamers to come up.
Jim, I have seen where you can take rubber bands and wrap them around the ties at the ends of the two track sections and this will keep them together. Basically, you start on one side, wrap the band over the two tie ends, then cross the band under the ties and go across to the other side where you come up and over the tie ends. The other way to do it, and probably better would be to get some black wire ties and pull the ties together and use the wire tie to keep them approximated. Or you can do it the old fashioned way of either screws or the old track clips.
Reggie : I missed that part about having the baby tonight !! I hope all goes well, & I had my last one when I was 42 !! Wishing you all the very best tonight !!
That is great news Reggie, as to waiting too long, my first came along when I was 36 and we got our daughter when I was 38. God Bless you and your family.
