Passing showers and a bit muggy this morning…going up to 70F today in the later part of the afternoon.
Everything has quieted down here…for the past couple of days relatives were ‘swarming all over the joint’…as a certain song had it…oh…blast…now it is doing a loop inside my head…
This Thursday will be my CT check up to see whether I am clear of the bone cancer…I just hope I am…
Today? Relax and enjoy the day…and replenish supplies again…
It is a warm 70 degrees. Going up to 80 today with some sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and the usual chores to do. I have to order more parts to finish this project that I am working on. Looks like I will be replacing all 4 truck sides on my FM Trainmaster.
Getting ready to go to the monthly Caterpillar retirees breakfast. 25 mile drive but have not been to one yet in 3.5 years and a friend keeps bugging me to go so I guess why not.
Aloha. Nice and misty, rainy downtown. No luck out at the house where it continues to be drought-y. Prayers that Tyler’s tumor keeps shrinking and for BoC’s tests. 8n, that’s quite a nice meal you had. DonB, my daughter and son liked interacting with the younger guests at Cedar Point. Worked a bit on the layout last night. Probably too early for the TARDIS.
63 and damp here. Did all the PT already and now awaiting for the dampness to go away. Gotta cut back more flowers and try and do the grass. Ran trains yesterday afternoon while it rained outdoors, NO PILE UPs!!! Felt good to watch the trains again. Looks like the start of train season for me.
It’s 60 and cloudy, we had some showers overnight but it doesn’t look like much. The only veggie left in the garden are tomatoes as they will ripen wrapped in newspaper. STILL taste better than store bought by far…S.J.
A gorgeous / marvelous/ delightful 62* this morning. So much for the good news, the bad news is that the “excessive heat warning” is continued thru today. [:'(]
At least I was able to get an early start yesterday morning and get some block/brick work done. Was finished and back inside before 9am, of course the “better half” gave me you know what for doing it in the first place. Hope she don’t rat me out to the CHF support group next week.
Nothing significant on today’s menu, trying to find a box with some of my halloween pieces/parts to start assembling my halloween cars.
Good morning. It’s 69° with 75% humidity. The high will be 82° and it’ll be partly cloudy.
Nothing much going on today. I’ll be going to town later to do a bit of grocery shopping. No noise from down the hill so maybe I can get through the day without my father adding something to it. Work on the grain elevator is progressing slowly.
I heard on the radio that its going to be 20 degrees cooler next week than it was last week and up to today where its around 105 in bankrupt southern Calif.
Another church potluck tonight, different church than last Friday. I am single and go to a lot of church events both for my spiratial and social life. I have said before I love potlucks, its a wonder I don’t weigh 400 lbs. I will miss the presidentual debate but I know I like listening to all the experts or at least people much smarter and knowlegable than me, what their opions ot thoughts are more than the actual debate.
Getting packed to take another carload back to NJ. I’ve got lists from Linda, her mom, Tyler and Corey. At least Corey’s is easy: more track and another transformer.
Just stuck my head outside, and it’s already warm and humid down here in Charlottesville. Supposed to go up to 84 today. BLECH! I thought we were done with this weather.
Went to the doctor yesterday. Report on triglycerides not good. Way too high still even though I’m taking medicine for it. So I’'m back on the low fat diet and more excercise. Started walking last night just before dark. Came home covered in sweat. Walked again this morning and much better. Temp was 64 when I got up but will go much higher this afternoon. Doc wants to see me again in two months with another blood test to check on progress. The new diet goes something like this, if it taste good, forget it!
Jeffrey, hope the arrangements on your folks property is to your satisfaction.
Noticed that Dweiner is posting again. Hope all is well with the new kids.
Doug in Sandy Eggo, didn’t realize it was that hot down there too.
Got a birthday coming up on Oct. 13th and grandson has his on the 17th. We will probably celebrate together.
It is cloudy in SE Indiana. Met with contractor on the house last night. After deleting some features and reducing the space added on, the price is much more reasonable. Hopefully by this time next year, I will have a train room after 35 years of home ownership. Also, worked on writeup for local soccer tourney this weekend to be put in newspaper Thursday. “My” soccer boys start sectional tonight. Hopefully they will win, but I fear the officiating will be a disadvantage to them. RI52, I think you are partially correct. Other areas will get attention as time goes by, but I am not sure as to if or when the sunshine will return. TBIL and I can drive after the game. If there is win tonight, the barrel rolls will be many, and if there is a lost, bring lots of Old Mils to drown the sorrows. I hope everyone has a good day.
SP Ray…you are right. You can’t get there on diet alone.
You need to hook up with a diabetic who has tried everything that is out there on the market that accomodates low(er) levels of dietary fat, carbs (bad and good), and low sugar content. You cannot possibly start from ground zero and try for yourself the zillions of better choice product substitutes in order to find the ones that taste decent. Many out there have already done the legwork for you. You might be surprised that you can get substitutes that taste pretty good and are still good for you.
Ask your Doc and the staff dietician for help.
Some of my extended family members are diabetic. And the things they serve (and now I serve them at my place) taste pretty good, surprised even “junk food/fast food” me. [dinner][swg]
Thanks for the prayers and well wishes for Mom. She goes for some testing today. I will spend the night with her tomorrow.
DJ, Good news on Tyler.
Brutus, Great news on Char. I will try to make the Tardis tonight.
Shake and Bake, Don, Nice story. We need that every so often.
BOC: Good luck with the CT test
SPMan, Ray, Good luck with the triglycerides.
Laz: My son and I are going to York along with AF53, Ray. We are heading up Thursday after work. Smoky Bones for dinner and Around the Clock for breakfast Friday morning.
Well I am back from the monthly Caterpillar LAZY [;)] retirees breakfast and it was okay to see some of those guys others I could do without. I was surprised to see three of my old bosses there. One from when I was in management and two from when I was hourly. Most of them were old management guys. I did not see any union guys I worked with there…
The one boss from when I was hourly is now also into O gauge trains for his grandkids so that was interesting talking to him. Boy did I give that guy He** when I worked for him. [:-,] . I think I may go more offten but not every month. The up side was that Yorkville is close to Oswego so I drove over to my son’s and saw him, the DIL and best of all the grandson. [:)]
SPRay good luck with the diet. Something I don’t look foward to, but sure someday it will come to that too. [:(]
Jeffery, The elevator is starting to look good. [Y]
I had better get off of here before someone tells me I have ‘Internet-use disorder’ [:O]
‘internet-usedisorder’ will be included in the DSM-IV - the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - from May next year.
Ray, Sometimes I regret not buying in Sandy Eggo except for the higher property values & taxes, we are about 36 miles outside the city in Escondido. Kinda like you, Don and Dennis out in the inland valley where it gets much hotter in the summer and much cooler in winter than in the city.
