COFFEE POT #2 February 2011 for all to take a drink and chat. 5+ years and going. Some chocolates in a heart shaped box. Plenty of coffee but also grits and sweet ice tea.

A little slow getting new pot going. Morning to partly cloudy and warmer temps [than last night]. Rain coming over night and then into the low 70’s!!!

Deserting Yankees are welcome. Plenty of grits to go around. [;)] Off to take Finn to the vet for a removal [you know what [:O]]. Go by BoJangles for a biscuit. Contractor on the way to start the trim work.

Later.

PS: some stupid pole says Buckeyes know how to play “round ball”. Never happen. [(-D] Only good Buckeye is a chocolate candy with peanut butter center.

Mornin’ boys. “Dice” is the best way to put the weather. Schools closed. Real fun to begin after sunset. Thought I saw a wooley mammoth…

Good Morning

17 and cloudy.

The big ones not expected here till afternoon. We will be fine if the power stays on. No ice forecast for here just high winds causing blowing snow. Anywhere south looks good this morning…S.J.

Hi GUYZ,

25 here with the whole kit and kabootal of sno hi o, sleet, and later freezing rain. Needless to say SCHOOL IS CLOSED. I’ll take it. Got things built last nite was just finishing up last project when my Principal came in and told me to go home. She said, I’ll see you Thursday so I don’t know if we’ll have school tomorrow? Oh well more time with the PUP. I’ll be running trains later today with her.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Aloha all. Snow? What snow? Nothing really here in downtown Chicago yet though the media panic continues. Any excuse to go home early I guess. I’ll probably postpone class tonight because no one will show up. All the more time to run trains…after visiting the Art Institute at lunchtime. [:D] Good news about your bride, Brutus.

Good morning all,

It snowed, we finally got snow! It started around 0300 this morning. We have received about three to five inches so far. It’s not accumulating on the ground too much because we have 35 mph winds blowing it everywhere. It’s 12 degrees outside right now and well below zero with the wind-chill. I do not have to report to work until later and that may change since it is still snowing. The kids’ school is closed so we should have some winter fun today. If you can’t tell, I am thrilled for this weather.

It’s time to finish some coffee and get ready to play.

Joe

The storm missed us here. Still no job news yet. I finally got the alternator out of the PGT and had it rebuilt. While I was putting it back in, i accidentally broke the wire off the plug for the oil pressure sender. Normally that would be a problem, but I read that only 93-94 Probes display an actually reading on the gauage, while 95-97 just send a fixed voltage to the gauge. That was confirmed when I started it and the needle moved to the middle of “Normal” even though the wire is off the sending unit.[(-D] I’ll fix it anyway when it gets warmer outside. I won’t even think about driving it until the Spring after there have been several periods of rain because I don’t want any salt on it.

Does anyone have a Lionel 783 Hudson? I’ve been thinking of possibily buying one, and I was wondering how they are since they are MPC.

[:)]thanks chief for starting out the pot again. thanks to you it has become a very fine social community and i also thank ctt magazine. you guys are the best. i heard the services are finally considering wearing one color uniform. about time. one less taxpayer expense. hope the bad weather misses everyone and gets only the politicians. joe are you assigned recruiting duties. you seem to have great family hours. i had officer recruiting assigned to me once as a collateral duty. i am not being nosy only think you af guys are neat. navyjack

Buy anything after the 783, MPCs first try did not come out very well. They are growlers, slow, brush eaters, and don’t pull very well. I have one and a lot of fine tuning improved it but the newer ones are much better.

Early Lunch at Work,

I really envy you guys who do not have to go to work when it snows or extreme bad weather. I took an early lunch because I have a conference call about the storm. We are looking at a major event with the ice and wind involving the power lines.

Brutus, Glad to hear that your bride is doing better.

SJ, Enjoy the banilla tonight. I have a feeling that their will be no banilla for me. Just a cup of hot coffee or hot chocolate to get warm for a minute.

Chief, come to think of it, us yanks from Jersey came down a few years ago to help restore power in NC after a major ice storm. The folks were very hospitable to us and glad that we came.

Prayers and thoughts to all in need.

If your power goes out, please give the guys a break restoring it. They want to get it back on as quick as possible.

John

Wind, sleet, winds, ice, and snow. One to two feet predicted in my neck of Taxachusetts, quite a range. The only thing that could possible make it worse is to go to the cupboard and find nothing but grits to eat.

**Brutus…**I was certainly glad to hear Char’s numbers are good. Prayers continue. I think she should dip you in some germ killing agent and make you sleep in the garage for a week. [swg]

**MikeC…**prayers continue for your Dad, your family, and you. Strength, brother.

**JimmyT…**prayers and fingers crossed on the job prospect.

**HudsonJohn…**why on earth would you send power repair crews down Chief’s way? Looking for abuse? [(-D] Joe, you finally get your wish. The video of Oklahoma City this AM on the news was interesting…don’t you know snow is supposed to fall, not go sideways? **DougM…**I thought you were supposed to get amounts as high as 20 inches from this one…must be all the hot air in Chicago’s City Hall that keeps the snow in check. **Mitch…**you had better start planning on home schooling so your kids get a break between school years.

The wifey called and said she will be headed home early, so I need to clear the driveway.

Good afternoon Y’all! It is cloudy out, but in the 60s. Currently watching the Galloping Goose program that was on RFD-TV. DVR’ed it and finally getting around to viewing it. Didn’t know there were so many variations.

Had a good day so far, went in early to set up for today’s case. Then, went to church for the discipleship class, and back to the hospital to do the case. I got some award for some work I had done back in December. They give me a choice of a bunch of different things, but I didn’t see the leg lamp.

Have to go pick up the kids soon and then back home for some relaxation. Wife will be bringing daughter to ballet, and then we have violin practice. With any luck, I have a few things I want to get done on the layout.

Hope everyone is having a great day.
Dennis

Dennis I think you need to get your eyes checked as you can see there it is right in front of you.

Hope all having a good day just relaxing here. Did build my 3 trailors for the layout and added some trees and put the flag pole from the trailors set in front of the school Thought that it looked better there than in front of the trailors. Wife got me a Jd tractor but I think its a little big but she tries so I put it in front of the barn. its bigger than my bull dozers oh well its the thought.[:)]

talk to you all later.

Good afternoon all,

It is messy in SE Indiana, but not as bad (yet) as the rest of the state. I called into work, and there 6 out of about 35 people in our division who made it in. They are sending those workers home at 3 and may close the state offices tomorrow as well. It is really bad in Indy. I went outside to get the paper and bring the trashcan back around. Power is still on and as long as that holds, we will be ok. Dad is hunkering down as well and drinking a lot of Ensures. That is a good sign. I have been cleaning the house and the “suacy wench” and I have been watching old TV shows on Antenna TV. I hope all who are caught up in this mess stay safe. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL with the de-icers on full power. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

It works! You guys can stop the snow cannon test! We’ve gotten about 8" since 7am. More coming.

We shut the plant down at 10:30 this morning to make sure everybody got home. I finished up what I was doing and left about noon. Helped push the plant manager’s Mustang out of the lot. A low car with fat tires is not the winning combination today.

Just watching the snow drift around.

All for now.

Good afternoon all, neighbor next door told me that the animal control people came by today and told him he had to get rid of three of his collie dogs because the city ordinance only allows two. He has five all together. I don’t know who blew the whistle on him but somebody complained. The dogs do bark a lot but so do a lot of other dogs around here. I have overlooked the barking because my neighbor is a good person and hasn’t bothered me. I told him I was sorry it didn’t work out for his dogs. I don’t know if he will sell the dogs are what. He said they are pure bred collies and I assume they have papers. Somebody on the forum lost a collie a while back I think. Don’t know what it would cost to ship an animal like that or if it would be worth it if anyone was interested. If so I will pass the word along to my neighbor or give him your E mail.

Ray

ray that was fifedog. don’t know how he is about that idea or your neighbor is about that idea.

Well not a lot going on tonight. Had what I thought was something other than what I picked up at wal-mart i picked up cheese enchiladas and thought I picked up cheese enchiladas.

So much for my birthday dinner didn’t really care for it but it was my own doing not looking closely at the box. [banghead]

Well taking it easy for rest of the night work tomorrow. Talk to you all later have a good one.

did have a good desert this afternoon thou I had butter pecan ice cream with strawberries on it topped with Hershey chocolate syrup.

Good Evening

The snow hasn’t reached here yet but it’s on our doorstep, the wind has though. I went out and put the front of the truck 2 inchs from the garage door and the wind is biting cold. Hopefully all 2000 miles of us will get through this with power and heat. Banilla will be ready for those who want it. beacon will be on…S.J.

Chuck…We should have never let Doug Murphy borrow the snowohio cannon. Look at the mess he has made.

Evening all

Rain and 43 out. Sure beats snow and ice. Going to have a quiet now the kids are in bed. Going to do a little reading then prayers, going to incude Dennis’ eye, Mike’s dad, Char in special intentions.

Good Night and may God bless

Jim
