COFFEE POT #8, for all to take a drink and chat. Welcome all posters. 4 yrs old and still going.

Quick stop by as we have a full schedule going. Got my Father’s Day present yesterday…a JC FM Trainmaster with TMCC. Looks great! Checking over my times, etc, I have to use a good bit of vacation over the next month or so. Perhaps it will be a great time to work on the layout. Want to get some time under the layout and finish the wiring on the yard lead.

Chief, I could go for a Mator sandwich about now! That sounds like a good idea for lunch…hmmm. Anyway, glad things are going well for you and will add your Police Chief’s daughter to prayers.

Dennis

Hey guys,

Laz – I can’t get the YouTube deal, but if it was anything like the ride my boss took in last year, that’s awesome! Plus the irony that your ancestors may have drove that engine is too cool!!

Alas, my laptop is taking a dump, so I may not be able to post from hope for a while and that means all the youtube stuff from work is verboten…[banghead].

Jon – “NEWSFLASH!!!” Ran the John Deere behind my reman’ed GG1 (MTH), I have the stills and video, will try to upload them later today. Also, Monday is H.O.G. Million Mile Monday – I have off and the Sportster still runs (imagine that)

Tuesday is MY day off – may be train related and/or apartment hunting related

[angel] for the wifes and the DC fiasco and anyone else I’ve missed

Deer ticks are brown with a white spot on their abdomin. Ticks were crazy bad in our yard till I put out some insecticide. The bites will get inflamed because of a reaction to the ticks body fluids. The size you are describing you may want to get them checked.

Prayers for your youngest. A friend of mine hade Lyme diesase, no fun.

Jim

Got a 30% monsoonal thing just a few minutes ago—so we are continuing on apace—a couple of days sun—back to rain–one day sun—more rain next 3 days—

Got the running around for work done so I get a day off tomorrow----will spend it doing the lawn[banghead]----oh well[:-^]

ChiefEagles: We have two places–such as they are called PERTH—one is the county of Perth in which the county seat is called Stratford and the PERTH that you might be referring to is one out by the Ottawa Valley region. We are stuck here in the southwestern region of the province----Perth actually—given the way that I drive–is about 6-7 hours northeast of here----I love that area—

Good Evening

Not much coffee today. I guess everyone is enjoying summer. Me too, just got in. Not much done today but I did run some trains. Me and the banilla are ready for Brutus so come on by big guy…S.J.

Unfortunately or fortunately, I have been very busy at work, so I’ve not been able to keep up with everything.

Brutus…Prayers and thoughts for your wife. Tell her Buckeye is pulling for her.

After many years, I was on the gun again today. It seems like only yesterday that I learned to set up the survey instruments. I always enjoyed my field surveying time because it was always interesting.

Evening Folks,

Had a nice weekend. Met son’s GF’s parents for dinner on Sunday. We went to Old Ebbits Grill and had a great meal. Great food at a reasonable price. Parking was a bit pricey as we parked on our own and missed the $8 valet parking at the restaurant. They soaked us for $20 for 2.5 hours.

Work was super busy today. We had training on Monday that was pretty good and then I have 2.5 more days of training this week. Will not be back to office until Friday after lunch. We are having some major drama with our custodial staff. We will probably have to hire some new people as all of them have applied for transfers.

Thought I was going to be able to hit some trains stores after tomorrow’s training but that didn’t work out. Have to hit the road by 6;15 so I better get ready for bed.

Take care,

Mitch

Hmmm - love grilled veggies, esp whole ears of corn in the husk! You can put a charcoal briquette in a foil pain in your gas grill I think, if you want to add that flavor? I know you can add wood chips that way, have to soak them first.

Wife had a transfusion today, two units. She is feeling better. Chief, we need to get these ladies together [(-D]

Thanks for all the prayers guys.

Well - no train stuff today - waiting for my ERRco card to show up, a train book to show up, and a box of track to show up.

TARDIS is ready and Mike has the con tonight. Patrick, I need some farmer advice - you stopped adding your wise farmer sayings! Come on man, I love that stuff  I’m full of chinese food and apple pie tonight, but I’ll go along for good company

Good Morning All

Drove over to the NS Buckeye Yard yesterday, as I posted a couple weeks ago it is being used as an equipment storage area now since its closure. Well now one of the inbound lines is being used to store diesels. Surprisingly, quite a few BNSF in green and pumpkin colors mixed in with the black NS units. Looks like the recession is still causing a reduction in equipment needs.

Suppose to hit 90 and steamy today in Columbus, good day to stay in the basement and work on the layout.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. Hot, hot, hot. I practiced an hour with “my” soccer girls and then an hour with the soccer boys, then did weights at the YMCA. Game tonight at 6 PM. Prayers going out to all who need them. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending them to “Points East” and a special “extra” run to “Points West” for Brutus’ wife. Tardis was easy to drive last nights as the special modulators were making adjustments and course corrections very quickly last night. Beacon is lit for after the game tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello–

Going to be kinda warm and muggy today–high of 32C expected with no chance of a shower–tomorrow will be 29C, cloudy and a 60% chance of showers and T’storms.

Got today off and so my list of gotta do’s include things like mowing the lawn[|(], cleaning out the toolshed[xx(] and some more yard schtuff[:-^]

Have a good one, people----[swg]

Morning all!

Thanks for the update on the tick bite. The swelling in the bite areas is going down, and the redness is almost gone.

Neighbor flagged me down yesterday, and said his crawl space filled up with water…looks like the transition pipe thru the footing broke, and filled up the crawl space to about 6" of the joists (about 2-feet of water). Had him rent a pump. Pump ran for about 9-hours. Kids had fun in the water. Today he came by for the fans, and de-humidifyer, so I’ll be digging over there and helping him get the water back on.

90 degree, and 80% humidity today. Sheesh.

Kurt

HI GYZ,

60 and nice here today. Ran a nice 4 miles and then biked a 6 miler. Great day took in the morning sites.

Yesterday was my day with the Loike. GREAT day!!! I finall got to run the Lokie. KIETH our Engineer asked me in the afternoon if I wanted to try it out? Yepper you bet. Showed me the levers what does what and then allowed me to run it for about a half mile or so. Worked great! Got to know when to give it some thottle and when to let off, but nice and easy. Also got to do all the firemans jobs. The regular fireman took off yesterday so I got to do everything from cleaning out the firebox, to starting up the fire and allowing the pressure to build up to our 90-100 lbs. for running. Pretty neat. Next Monday is my next time for working on the LOKIE.

NJDEVIL. Do a search for Pioneer Tunnel, Ashland Pa. You should get something there?

BRUTUS and CHIEF, prayers for your wives.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Good Morning everyone. Temps have been on the high side here too. Played “baseball” yesterday with my 6 year old. The word is in quotes as we used a soft air-filled ball along with a rubberized bat. Trying to work on his hand-eye coordination. He started to get the hang of it after about 30 minutes, but then the heat was getting to us and the gnats were having a party around us, so we called it a day.

Just finished with some emails to the folks holding the purse strings around here for equipment we are going to need. Big $$$$ that should have them taking a deep breath. With the requirement that everything be “paperless”, the charting of the cases, etc., will require all institiutions to purchase new equipment that is compatible with the operating system of a given charting program.

On the way back from the meeting, we did stop off and take some snapshots of a few rail related items. I got the crane that I posted about earlier. Will try to post those soon.

God Bless,
dennis

Good Morning

A waffle this morning. Like Kurt said, air is heavy and hard to breath. I don’t like wasting a summer day indoors but not comfortable out there at all. I will get out this evening. Had a good chat last nite with some of the guys, we even talked trains. Wow wednesday already and June is slipping away it’s just not fair…S.J.

Mornin’ boys. Mornin’ English. Sunny & beautiful here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Actually been that way since Monday, which has allowed me to apply the Kiwi-Grip to the Hunter. Masking the deck took up 2/3 my time. Turned out nice. The anti-skid has a neat rubbery feel when you walk on it.

For Father’s day got the new U2 cd…and crabs! [tup]

Good morning all,

Dennis, Think “soccer” instead  Much less aggravating (for both you and child!) Six is about the right age for them to start kicking the ball. Just my two cents.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill…

It is a sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 88 today. Hot.

Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping and I am working on some paperwork. I plan on sitting outside in the shade, before it gets too hot.

Tomorrow is train room day. It’s time to dust again.

fifedog… Sorry about your crabs.[:-^]

Buckeye… It’s Wednesday already.

Dining car was here for the usual breakfast. Cheerios.

Y’all have a great Wednesday.

Chuck

Good Day,

Sounds like most are doing pretty well, still have prayers going out for wives!

Survived the week-end, can’t say very profitable, but didn’t loose either. Man, is this economy ever tough!

Update regarding the Helix, I’ve been working on detail layout designs for the club, will most likely have a discussion at the next meeting. I think there are still a couple of guys that are apprehensive about it. Ironically, not for the functionality, but for the scenic impact! In the meantime, the guy wanting to build it is proceeding at light speed. He plans on having a mock-up ready by next week. Going to be interesting! Don’t have the cost numbers yet either.

Received a MTH Bank building for Father’s Day. It is huge! Trying to figure out where I can put it, so it doesn’t appear to have been just “plotted” down somewhere. The building is 17.5 x 13.5 and probably 3 stories. Sure eats up a lot of valuable Real Estate.

Also, working on possible vacation plans. Chris wants to have a “family vacation”, so we are discussing a road trip. Here’s the problem,

- go North, been that way many times, not much new there.

- go South, not a good idea, too much turmoil in Mexico.

- go West, just doesn’t work.

- go East, takes 2 - 3 days to get through the desert, then the same coming back.

So, probably go North East, - Thinking about 2-3 days in Vegas, then towards Denver, who knows maybe visit downtown Witichta ?

News this morning that our “little” city has one of the worst air quality reports in the country. This will REALLY upset the officials, who spend 100’s of thousands of Parade floats for the city image. The area of concern is an area that is adjacent to a Toxic Waste treatment plant. The facility is located about 5 mi., from me. And has had a expose done on the Dir

Morning Boys,

Laz, I’ve actually BEEN to the Pioneer Tunnel!! LOVED the Mine train, it’s been a few years, but had a great time there. I’ll try to visit the website!!

I miss the NorthEast just for things like that, Dutch Country, Coal Country, the Poconos,

not to mention NYC & Philadelphia. Spent too much time in Sellersville and Hellertown on the 309 (was with some female type…[banghead]). Still have friends all over

Up to 95 again today, very hot and VERY humid again. Plans all set for Universal Friday. Really looking forward to some time away from work. The Princess wants to make plans for Tuesday, so it looks like Daddy/Daughter day.

OK, that all that fits, I have to help get a car to , so I’ll be back later!
