COFFEE POT #8, for all to take a drink and chat. Welcome all posters. 4 yrs old and still going.

Couldn’t stay in, just got back from a hot walk. Sweaty, may have to shower this Saturday.

I am debating selling my boat, 16 ft, 50 HP merc. outboard, six years old. To tiring to take it out always come home and flop. I am sure some of that is just from being on the water.

laz - I bet you were like Neil Armstrong stepping off that lokie. That would be awesome if it were the same one your uncle fired. Keep an eye on that water glass.

dbaker - If I lived where you do, places like Tehachapi, Cajon, Sullivan’s curve, Mormon rocks, and Flagstaff would be constant haunts of mine. Then there would be the surf side rail to occupy me as well. [2c]

dwiemer - Hey Dennis, where are my boat pics…[%-)][oX)]

Mornin’ All, I think. [xx(]

Still dead on my tush from yesterday, getting up at 4am is the pits. Got in the musuem at 6:15 doing a quick cleanup to make sure it was presentable on tv. Since it was a promo for the museum sponsored summer camp, grades 1 thru 6 if I remember right, I decided to run a Thomas & Percy double header with all of the grandson’s rolling stock. Got everything set for some test runs and they ran like a champ with no stuttering or hesitations on the turnouts. So shut the trains down and wait for the tv folks to get everything ready.

Mr Murphy’s relatives must have been hiding in the bushes somewhere. Get everything going and you guessed it, as soon as the camera lights come on Thomas & Percy come to the reverse loop turnout on the upper level where Thomas decides to go right and Percy decides to go left. [oops] [banghead] [sigh]

After that initial problem the rest of the day was un-eventful, other than lots-n-lots of visitors. Was I ever glad to see 4pm come around !

Time for more coffee, trying to get both eyes open.[zzz]

Blueberry - [(-D] Some clarification for you Snohizoans…getting crabs in the Mid-Atlantic region is a good thing[#dots] As long as thay are smothered with OLD BAY seasoning…

OK, fifedog…I could not resist. I like walleye, myself.

Got the dang toolshed all cleaned out from all the stuff innit–had to take it all to the recyclers then had the lawn cut—such as there is of it—

Me—I like any kind of seafood-----When we’re up in cottage country up here we usually do the frying of the Rainbow Trout or what have you that we catch by the side of the lake-----

you thought I’d say “see food” right?-----Well that too[:-^]

Good evening

Still 88 outside.

Charlie just left, we ran some mth smokers. Used the new “Nada” and so it wasn’t so bad. Banilla is ready but still in the freezer…S.J.

Fife, it’s just like living anywhere else if you’ve been there long enough. It has been 51 years for me since I was transplanted from Virginia to Southern California. I have been to all those places you mentioned so many times I know every nook and cranny but I miss the trains that used to run on those lines. First time I went to Cajon, they were running warbonnet F units on the passenger trains of the Santa Fe and UP was running E-8 A-B-B-A consist with The City of Los Angeles Train. F units still reigned on tehachapi as well and they were Black Widow SP engines. Later on they went to the gray and red bloody nose scheme. I will leave it all to the younger generation to discover now. They probably like the modern power. I don’t go out anymore unless they are running a steam engine or something special. I forgot to mention that on the ATSF Coast Line they were running Alco PA units when I first saw those trains. Rode to San Diego many times on that line.

Hot in St. Louis again, but not as hot as the last few days. Got a little rain, but not much - not enough to do anything. Electric Railroad Co card showed up, need to check that out this weekend. TARDIS is ready and I need some help - some kids keep shooting fireworks at my house, so we will be getting some manure in bags and doing a little dive-bombing. Maybe figure out a way to keep it lit on fire all the way down [(-D]

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Finnally getting around to some serious computer work and checking up on my toy train buds. It is hot here and muggy. Broke down and started using the A/C Monday. Bride was going to work a couple night shifts and need to cool thehouse down for her to sleep during the day.

Ordered parts for my truck getting it ready for the truck camper. Ordered the tie down system, and going to put on air bags, new brakes, and two new tires. By the time I’m done I’ll spend about $1000. Still cheaper than a new truck$$$$$$$

Chief - the spot for the train looks real nice. Is it fairly close to power and the like?

Fife - I thought the same as Chuck at first. Maybe an Ohio thing.

SJ - Maybe it will rain and you can skip the shower.

Well, off to bed. 0500 comes all too soon

May God bless

Jim

Been reading the Pot lately, but not taking time to post. Temperature broke a little today. Like Brutus said - a little rain and a little cooler. Supposed to be about 100 on Saturday, though.

Another ‘Lost’ evening again with my wife - season 3, disc 3. I really enjoy watching it with out the commercials.

Fixed the washing machine last night. Turned out to ba a dirty contact in the timer. Kind of like working on an e-unit that was on steroids.

Dropped into the local hobby shop to gab some. The owner will be moving to a new store downtown the 1st of August. Good move for him. Only thing is, the store will be about 16 blocks away instead of two.

Summer shut down at the plant next week. Expecting it to be quiet so I can catch up on some of my back burnered projects.

About it. Later, all.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps again in the 90s. It was a good day for soccer yesterday. USA men’s team defeated Spain 2-0. They play the winner of Brazil and South Africa for the Confederation Cup championship. This is the best they have done ever in a FIFA tournament. My team won 1-0 as well last night. I did ok. I made a few good passes, got a couple of stops or steals, and got away with an accidental handball. It was not pretty, but it was a win. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast this morning. Beacon is lit and I can drive again after tonight’s game. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello

Got the ever popular mix of sun/cloud with showers and T’storms booked in for the afternoon/evening. High today will be 32C with the heat index at 38C. It’ll clear up and get the fog developing overnight with the low at 16C. Tomorrow will be about the same with a 40% chance of showers and T’storms. High tomorrow will be 28c.

Got some clients to see and I’ll be taking the camera to see whether I can get some pix of a couple of industrial sites to add to my idea files-----[swg]

Have a good one—[swg]

Morning all!

Helped neighbor dig a bit yesterday to find water line. 2 - galvanized pipes right next to each other (1-for water and 1-for electrical to pump) Couldn’t cut the line and retap, as the pipes were too close together. I recommended calling the pros, and replace the galvanized back to the wellhead with plastic. Spent part of day with daughters playing baseball. 2-yo is starting to understand how to swing the bat!

Found out SiL has Thyroid cancer. It was found during another unrelated surgery. Plan is to remove Thyroid, and treat with a radioactive pill? 96% success rate.

Hot and humid here again.

Brutus: Prayers said. Beacon is on!

Kurt

HI GYZ,

Nice and cool this morning but we’re to push 90 today? Did my laz Camp this morning with a 3 miler on the run, another 3 miler on the bike, then lil weights and situps. Maybe GOLF this after if now roasting by then?

RICH, yes it is a nice lil excurssion into the mine. About 50 degrees. Nice to stand in opening on these hot afternoons especially when I get off the Lokie.

FIFE, I inject water after every trip. Usually takes about 10 minutes for water to fill up glass.

KURT, prayers for your SIL, hope it turns out good.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Good Morning

sunny and 81 at 8 AM. Humid but I’ll take it. Much better than pushing a snow blower. Maybe storms later and I can get my shower before Saturday. I’m not fallin for that old trick “here hold these wires” while I shower anymore. anyway enjoy your Thursday and stay warm…S.J.

morning all not a lot happening. this weekends plans got a little dampened as they missed paying me on 8 of my O.T. so it made check shorter than planned. but we will survive as we always do. Things happen but one way to look at it is that I now can count on a little bigger check next payday than expected[:D]

Hope all have a good weekend as I still plan to even if its just sitting around the house relaxing as this will be the first full weekend I’ve had off in a long time basicly I’ve been working at least one day every weekend now for about 3 months I think.

Hello–

We got t’underboomered on to the tune of 2 of 'em–both had marble sized hail and monsoonal downpours as well. In this neighbourhood we have had 3 houses take ground discharges and 1 tree is split right down the middle behind our crescent-----BTW the high got to 33C and gave us the heat index of 40C—just wonderful[xx(]

When I got home I found that our pond/lake that formed this spring from all the dang rain we had grown larger I went and threw out a small floating dock and took my little R/C boat for a spin–[:-,]

And from what I seen the long range looks like I could be doing this thing a lot–[sigh][:-^]

Evening to All,

Quiet here on the Pot. Had a fairly decent day at our training session today. Looking forward to some time off. Hope to have decent weather.

Take care,

Mitch

Good Evening

Storms all around us. Lots of damage as usual. I had a post written and lost it. So just grab some banilla and come on board the thingy with us…S.J.
