HOT in St. Louis. My son picked up a couple books at the library he thought I would like - Tracks Across America and another one that has blow-up diagrams of trains, which was pretty cool. Too, my book I ordered a while back showed up - George Stephenson, The Remarkable Life of the Founder of the Railways. So, I’ve got that going for me [:)]
TARDIS is ready, going to Kurt’s first to drop off some cookies and cream icecream for the kids (about 5 hours ago with the wayback circuit), then come and get the rest of you guys. Patrick and Mike, you guys figure it out, lol. Nice chat with RT earlier [:)]
Hi Guys… power is back and things are partially cleaned up. What a mess. Many large trees down on my street, several of which hit cars. Poor kid down the streets chevy pickup was destroyed. Safe and sound at my place less a few large branches They are calling it 70 Mph straight line winds. I guess that would explain the wallpaper effect of leaves stuck to the front of my house SJ called earlier to check on me…Thanks SJ sorry I missed your call I was putting away the generator.
Glad to see the system is back up to speed, tried to post earlier and it was slower than (insert your own term).
Sounds as though you guys in the upper midwest have been gettin hammered with the weather this week. Hopefully it will go back to normal soon.
[angel]'s for those in need.
Well finally recovered from last tuesday, just in time for tomorrow and Kids Club duty on saturday. Travelling lite tomorrow, gonna run the 4-6-0’s and a GP15 lashup w/coal hoppers, most of which will be club rolling stock.
Howdy Gang! Greeting from the great northwest! Sorry to hear so many of you dealing with those good ole’ thunder boomer’s you folks get back east. They predict a thunder storm out here and it means 2 or 3 claps of thunder and a few minutes of heavy rain with some hail thrown in on occasion. They just through so fast. In some ways I miss those thunderstorms from back east. Just glad to hear that you are all safe and for the most part unscathed. You all should move out here! Gee we get 3-4 inches of snow and everything just sits until it melts. People shake their heads when I talk about growing up in Western New York! Yeah I know, what about all the rain? It isn’t really as back as they make it out to be. Plus I have yet to have to shovel rain. Heck out here if the lawn needs mowed and it is raining you throw your poncho on and go to it.
Anyway, prayers out to everyone who is facing difficulty be it health issues, job issues, storm issues, and anything else I may have missed.
Ken
Here is a link that shows a view or two of the beauty that we out here enjoy everyday and yes it even involves a railroad! This is about 90 miles NE of where I live. The mountain is at least!
Aloha. Sitting on the 12th flr. lanai overlooking the beach. Thought I’d drop in to say hello before heading out with the bride for a late dinner. Prayers continuing for your wife, Brutus. Sure was nice of you to help out your neighbor, Kurt. Sounds like an immense job. Charlie, glad you’re OK. Sorry I let out the gremlins at the wrong-time, Doug - but I had to, it’s the law. [;)]
IIABSDISEI with temps in the high 80s/low 90s. Last night was a perfect example of why I play soccer. We were playing the only team that had won all of its games so far. While they had a couple of subs at the beginning, we had just 11, which meant no break for me. At the end of the first half we were down only 1-0. At one point in the first half, there was a terrific scramble for the ball in front of our own goal. The ball was bouncing off bodies at a rapid pace and people were scrambling all over the field. Finally we cleared it and as I was jogging back to my regular position, I was thinking, “This is fun!” I made one good header to move the ball back down the field, and a few other plays as well. In the second half, one of the ladies on the team (college kid, played on one of the Columbus high school teams) got the ball at about the 18, dribbled around a couple of defenders and found the back of the net from about the six. We had a sub show up at half time and I sat out most of the second half, which was fine with me. I was happy with a 1-1 tie, which should leave us tied for second.
I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast. Patrick drove last night, but I can tonight (we may have to flip a coin). Beacon will be lit. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin’ boys. Mornin’ English. Cloudy and 75 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Long day with court in the morning, then 3rd trick later on. Heading up to Catoctin Hobbies tomorrow to pick uo some goodies.
Great Scale Show at Timonium, MD this weekend!
SPMan- You certainly have seen THE BEST in railroading during your years out west. Perhaps if I can make it out there you could be my guide. I’ll buy dinner (which won’t include GRITS). [tup]
b cylinder - Good luck with that weather. Speaking of…
dougnotta- Hey, I watched Little House on the Prairie. They had horrible weather in the midwest every other episode…
strogey- Cool link. Pretty scenery. Perhaps they can buy #19 from the Yreka.
Banks - You did get the MAPQUEST directions to Rollesville, right…? [;)]
Brutus – “saw’ you last night on the f-book, computer is acting crazed, may need a new hard drive, so I couldn’t talk to you. The thing is just flippin’ out.
Got a real bad case of short timers right now, off to Universal later today, back on Sunday to prep for my long cruise on the HD for HOG Million Mile Monday. The HOG club is saying 200-300 mile ride (whoo boy…)
Had lunch with a buddy who got laid off, may try to get back in fall softball…need to get behind the plate again. I thought about baseball, but there is too much MORE equipment I’d need to do that (but I won’t rule it out…yet).
Up to 96 and VERY HUMID again today 30% chance of rain later.
The hotel has a computer, I’ll see if I can get on it tonight o
We are going to the Chrysler auto museum this morning with some old people from the church. So close and yet I have never been there. Figured this would be a good good time to go before its all given to the poor. Have a great friday…S.J.
We already got our 40% shower this morning so we’re going to clear up and get drier this afternoon and we’ll see a high of 26C with northwest winds. Supposed to be sunny with a high of 27C tomorrow—Sunday—not so much[:-^]
I’m going to a friends studio where we put a new acquisition for our so called “new” old band----An Eventide H3000 Harmonizer------gonna see how this works-------[:-,]
Fife, I would be happy to tell you where the good train watching spots are and go if I am able. My son could probably tell you more because he is an active railfan. I have’nt been out there for years so I’m not up to date. My son tells me that because of security since 9/1l, a lot of areas are no longer accessible in places like Cajon Pass. P.S. I don’t mind grits. I just don’t eat them anymore because of the carbs. I’m on a diet now. I miss those Eastern crabs you mentioned. You could bring some of those.
Weather was nice today. The trip to Chrysler car museum was fun. They have three floors of cars with about 80 on display and 350 total. So about every three months they change the display. I took my film camera and when I got home found out Rite-aid no longer does prints and only sends them out for proscessing once a week. Walgreens still does in house but does not send out at all. Guess I’m still in the 20th century. That was my day so now I shall wait for the Tardis, banilla ready.
