Good ol’ ‘Shouldn’t Paint So Fast’! How things could have been different if that merger had gone through?

I support the restoration of the paddle steamer ‘Medway Queen’. As a way of acquiring funds the society commission the building of model railway wagons.

In 2024 Medway Queen was 100 years old. Built at the Ailsa Boatyard in Troon, Scotland, two models of Ailsa were commissioned.

I visited the Medway Queen Preservation Society website. I was impressed by the number of commemorative models they made. However, they are all modest in design. The models that Hornby released for the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ debut in 2023 were all attractive.

The other problem is that everyone collects them so there tends to be a lot of them. When collectables (no just trains) are abundant they aren’t worth much.

Becky, do you know why Ak-Sar-Ben Hobby Co. was in Jacksboro, TN? It seems it should have been about 900 miles northwest of there.

To see the original design on the sides of the model, search for “rail 99 fair.”

The wooden whistle was acquired in Seattle in Feb. 1998, at the venue of the Great American Train Show, which toured the US.
