CTT Project Layout: Lionel D-146
A postwar project? Hmmm…interesting. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
This is going to be a great series. Dealer display layouts are my absolute passion. I’ve done both a Christmas layout and an Easter layout in the dealer display layout motif, including dying sawdust for the grass. There is a magic that’s associated with these layouts.
I have a hi-rail layout in my attic that’s rather nice, but my favorites are the display style layouts that I’ve created.
Great choice for a project layout folks.

There seems to be so much interest in the store display layouts maybe its time to assemble a special issue based on these layouts. I grew up in Chicago and recall layouts at Marshall Fields as well as South Side hobby stores like Michigan Hobbies and A&M cycle and Hobbies on Halsted. Lets do this!!!

I have the book on dealer display layouts and would LOVE to build a few of them if I had the room. I will be following the progress of the D-146 very closely. I can hardly wait to see the first installment.
Postwar projects is one area I enjoy reading about when Lionel was at its peak. Like many, I wish I was young again and back in the 1950’s seeing all these new item coming out for the first time.

Can one still find that layout book that was put out in the 90’s as was relayed to us in your video? Would like to have one of those.

Great to see CTT doing one of these classic layouts as a project. I would like to see more of these layouts in the magazine with diagrams. Like all layouts they are a thing of beauty when done and working properly. Great for the beginner and expert.
