CTT Project Layout: Lionel D-146

where is the train running?

This would be a great layout for my grandkids So many memories as a child. They always came out at Christmas time, right after Thanksgiving. Miss the good old days as a young man.

You know, you have to start somewhere. This project is perfect for the beginner, with limited space, and it will be affordable. My father is long gone now,and i remember as a little boy peeking down the cellar stairs in 1953 and the entire cellar was a Hugh layout of trains. I wonder what that cost him? Keep up the good work CTT. Lets bring back some good old memories .

looks alot like my lay out in 1952 good job brings back memories

this is a great thing you guys are doing remembering the great post war trains and times. we as a family really enjoy it ,and really enjoy the articles.

Looks like fun.

Good job guys…but, don’t you need an uncoupling/unload track under the Lionel Coal Dump accessory to accept coal in the bin??

I loved this issue and I particularly loved the D 146 article and the video. I also enjoyed seeing the use of original gear and modern gear to make a wonderful layout. Keep the good stuff coming!

Good video and article. Will be interesting to see how this progresses.

A VERY NICE BEGINNER LAYOUT, MIGHT WANT TO USE IT AND EXPAND ON IT, I HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH ROOM FOR A 16X20 LAYOUT IN A ROOM ABOVE THE GARAGE. VERY EXCELLENT PRESENTATION. MY VERY FIRST LIONEL FREIGHT TRAIN, TRACK AND TRANSFORMER IN 1953 FOR 29.00 DOLLARS WHILE LIVING IN HOKAIDO, JAPAN, CAMP CRAWFORD. AND I AM STILL HOOKED.

Great Job !

Roger,
Have you ever considered giving the project display away as the Grand Prize in your sweepstakes?

Don’t quite have the bench work done yet, but I’m still with 'ya. keep up the good work!

reminds me of my childhood in the 1960’s precious memories!? can’t wait to build it!
