Dream Plan Build Volume 5

I recieved my copy of Dream Plan Build Volume 5.

I enjoyed the product and found it most educational.

I have several questions generated by the show.

The plastic connectors demonstrated (Used to join wiring without soldering) on the DCC layout, what are they called and where are they availible?

In addition does the connectors have a ampheres limit and any other limitation?

The Old Line Graphics Car Cards and Boxes for Operations that was demonstrated, are they availible online or only direct? If direct where would the vendor be?

The Airbrush tips for weathering engines was informative, however the author referred to distilled water for thinning the Tamyia water based paints. He then picked up a small Tamyia thinner. Isnt that rather expensive? Should Distilled mineral or spring water be used instead?

Does the Tamyia paints conduct electricity, are they safe around the steam engine rods and desiel engine wheel treads?

On the creating grade crossings segment they used foam that is 4 inches wide to create the road, what product is that?

The grade crossing peices that go between the rails looked to me a little bit thick, I recognized the track as a Kato Unitrack and wondered if it would be better to cut into the track to get the wood deck below the uncoupling pins? Or to use a thinner peice instead?

Finally but not the last, they referred to Steamtown restoring two locomotives, anyone know which engines they are trying to bring back to operating condition?

Well I only have one answer and its about the connectors. I watched this video a while ago, but I think they were the same connectors I used on my layout. I bought mine at radio shack. I pretty much cleared out there stock for a week. They work well and I haven’t had any power problems with them.

Thank you! That helps alot.

It’s too bad they dont subtitle very well or at all for the hearing impaired.

The connectors are called suitcase connectors. I use them and they work like a champ. Sealing them with a drop or two of solder on the branch line (Non bus wire) also helps
