Last September I stopped into the Durango & Siverton museum and noticed 476 was not on display. In its place was 478. I asked the museum guy and he said 476 was going through a routine maintenance rebuild and would be ready by May 2017. I poked my head through a back of the shop window and sure enough, 476 was all torn down and being worked on. 476 has not run since the late 90’s. Good to have her back on the line again!
What is the status of 473 ?
Hi Mike,
473 still going strong. Last summer after they reduce the trains to two per week, they used it a few days each week. You can tell 473 is coming by its single chime lower sounding whistle.
The last 3 summers we have stayed in Durango 4-6 weeks, camping in a campground where the train tracks go thru the middle of the campground, so I saw 473 several times.
How many engines do they hav?
