Early Snow Scene starring the Cascades

Mt. Rainier took a 3 day holiday recently and when it returned, it was sporting a nice new fresh coat of snow. In anticpation of the volcano’s traditional winter dissappearing act, I had a couple of new locations scoped out, with the hope of catching a train in the scene.

Take my word for it, if you want to see this in person, you have to be one of a few people who own a home in the vicinity of my photo location. Follow the link in the comments of the photo to see what the volcano looked like only a few days earlier.

Enjoy!

Too many take pictures of trains by filling up the frame with the train rather than the experience the train brings!

Very impressive photo.

Wow, Steve, another great shot. My wife and I were just out that way two and a half weeks ago- we could see the mountain, but it was so hazy that it would disappear in attempted photos. I kicked myself for not having a polarizing filter in my camera bag…

Beautiful! I saw Mt Ranier back in the 50’s. Nice to see it again after all these years!

Thanks everyone for the great comments.

Back in the 90s my wife and I took a vacation to the Puget Sound/Olympic Peninsula/ Victoria BC area for our 30th anniversary. We had relatives in Sequim and based ourselves there. Had a great time. Upon leaving we flew out of SeaTac airport just after sunset. Turning south the plane revealed My. Rainier in all its glory as the setting sun was still lighting it up. And behind the mountain was the rising full moon. Glorious! And my camera was safely packed away in my luggage.
