Elliots Trackside Diner IV, Under New Management!

I can’t get the [:D] off my face!

[:D] [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

YES! The MESS now owns the US Nor East!!!

Sorry Dick, You are all mine! Would you like a set of MESS decals to confirm that?

Fergie

Can’t keep up with all the new posts.

We took Smitty Kitty to the Vet today. Turned out to be a nasty abscess so it was lanced & cleaned. He will be on oral antibiotics and porch rest this week. For what it cost, I could have had a (N) Kato GS4…darn cat! Speaking of the GS4, we saw one in person today at that internet based train store with all the cars. Wow, that is one Nice looking train. Told the wife “we” really should have one on the layout. Then she asked how much it cost. There is always a catch, isn’t there! Anyway, after a little sticker shock, she kinda agreed to my proposal, so perhaps later this year? Perhaps for my birthday in October?[:-^]

Got home just in time to catch the last few minutes of a Trains & Locomotives show on RFD-TV of UP & Amtrak on the Shasta Route. Would like to see that one from the beginning.

The tooth extraction clock is winding down now…ugh! It has been bad/infected long enough I believe it has been taking an extra toll on my health. I really want it gone. Topped off all the critters water & hay this evening so the wife won’t have to do much with them.

Have a good night all. [C):-)] Rob

Yeah yeah, on my way to bed.

GARRY et al: we’re still clearing up Dad’s infection. it’s slow going, but mostly down to excretory disease and exhaustion. We’re going to go see a movie tomorrow. Wall-E. And he sees an oncologist (I just know that;s spelled wrong, but you know what I mean) the 8th.

Ferg: No, but I’ll take a glass of milk. ( I dun get it. That is a cool brass loco. But what;s it got to do with the Northeast?)

Hello everyone …

Fergie … WOW … the MESS is going first class. … Do you wear white gloves when you lift it? … Nice.

Flash … we’ll be pulling for “Dad”… Give him our best.

Rob … I wish you the best with all the DDS stuff. …An SP GS4 … nice thought.

Jeff … since you don’t get MR, here’s the cartoon on P 92 of August issue. Does it remind you of anyone in the Diner?

Howdy All…I just stopped in for a diet Coke before they turn the power off here…Posta turn it off at 1 am till about 3 am for some work…I have to get up about every hour and a half and didn’t want to be stuck in my lift chair…

Fergie thats one nice looking engine congrats…

I’ll check back in in the morning after they get the power back on…Jerry

Good Morning from Tipton IN ! [:D]

[:o)]

Actually it does.

Good morning.

It’s 68 at the moment and surprisingly clear. The high is expected to be in lower 90’s and it will be partly cloudy.

I have a 10 am appointment with the foot doctor this morning. To me it seems that the wound on my right foot is getting smaller but the one on the left foot hasn’t closed up at all. He’ll be able to tell for sure.

Morning all!

You won’t be seeing much (like none) of me after today. I’m off on vacation and where I’m going they don’t have internet. Matter of fact, cell phones don’t even work, so my office can’t bug me either! I’m going down to Dale Hollow lake to cruise around on the houseboat for a while and play with the jet ski’s. Probably be back sometime Sunday. Should be fun!

Fergie! [tup] [tup]

Rob, hang in there. It’ll be over soon!

Tom, hope that smoke and fire stuff clears up for ya!

Sue, shame on Tom for sticking you with that nasty old smoke! Bad Tom!

Oh well, gotta do the work thing now.

Later!

These Central Vermont 2-10-4 s were the smallest of the “Santa Fe” class. I believe CV had 10 of them and plied Vermont and Maine tracks.

Hope all goes well with your Dad. It will be a very tough go for a while but with the progress they’ve made with Cancer treatment his chances are definately better than if he had the disease 10 years ago.

Fergie

Thanks Garry! Ben had a great time yesterday and he starts the 8th grade the week after July 4th holiday!

What are you guys doing for the July 4th Holiday this year? Any plans?

TMCC for $300.00 RT? That is quite an investment in one loco! BTW, what is TMCC? [%-)]

Good luck with those fires Tom! I see the Air Force is using some C1’s to drop 3,000 gallons of fire retardent, does that help any really?

Nice Brass Fergie! [:D]

Jerry, you are up early this mornin’…

Have a great trip PC!

Canadian DIners: HAPPY CANADA DAY! … You guys are always on top!

Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, I’ll have waffles, glass of milk and one of Ed’s OJ, and a cup of coffee, please. Thank ya, ma’am!

First off, Ryan - wish Benjamin a belated [bday] from me, also. I didn’t get back to the Diner last night. What’d he do for his birthday, by the way?

Garry, I found out what happened to my August MR last night, when I checked my post office box - and there it was! [(-D] Guess my mail people there were busy reading it, since it wasn’t there in the box on Friday. And yep, I can think of two Diners who would definitely appreciate that cartoon. Jeff, maybe I could scan it in and send you and email so you can know what the others are talking about…I see the cartoon already got posted.

Cool this morning - our low for the night was 56 F (very un-summer-like), but we’re still going to hit 90 or so by the afternoon. Clear, kind of hot sunshiney day.

Tom, I think your gal at the fireworks stand on your news must be a relative of those folks Jeff and his family ran into. Was her name Mildred Nobrains? Just kidding, if Mildred visits the Diner…[:-^] Well, your retirement was nice while it lasted; maybe if the fires hadn’t happened you might be still out in the garage working on the layout…? But it’s a ‘bump’ in pay, and fewer days (so you still have a couple of weekdays to visit the LHS, work on the layout…). [:-^] Oh, I missed that you were using the Walthers tower for your fire tower; thought you meant the Atlas tower like <

Fergie, that is one sweet-looking engine there! [bow][tup] I’m with Garry - do you have any special safeguards you take? Put in safety plexiglas around the edges of the layout, using white gloves, etc.?

I’m curious too - what is TMCC, RT?

Jeff, hope the Dr. figures out how to get your left foot healing up better. [angel]

PC (if you aren’t already gone) have fun at the lake, and we’ll see you after the weekend.

Flash, I’d agree with what Fergie said about treatments today being better. From what I’ve seen of the previews, I bet you both will enjoy Wall-E a bunch. It’s on my list to go see, also.

Back to my waffles for now.

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Tom [:P]

[:O]

(Refering to train)[:O]

Good Afternoon all…Its sunny and in the upper 70’s here but humidity is around 32% so its very nice…I’ll have a cheese burger, onion rings and a strawberry shake please…Thank You…Sallie is sound asleep in her chair with her soaps on and I plan to take a nap too…power was off from 12:50 to almost 4:30 so I didn’t get much sleep last nite…

Jeff…How did you DR. visit go? Hope all was OK with your feet…

PC…Sounds like a great vacation…Enjoy it you sure deserve some time off!

You all have a good one…Jerry

Tooth is gone and the extraction was painless. Was pretty infected and into the nerve. Dentist let me know “these can kill you”. Just glad it’s gone. Going to go lay back down now. Feel kinda ill still. At least it’s gone.

Hope everyone is doing well. Rob

This is my first time in Elliots Diner.

What is it all about?

Afternoon, Zoe - I’ll have a root beer float, please.

UPCDMRR (Got to figure a shorter nickname for you…), this is a bit like the corner diner in some towns, where you come by, chew the fat (so to speak), and we maybe talk about MRR’ing stuff (or the weather, or you about name it - except we try to avoid politics and religion), stuff we’re up to, even how the family’s doing. There are very few (if any?) off topic topics here. Our virtual servers, Zoe and Chloe (twins, and that’s a whole ‘nuther story…) cover the days and weeknights usually, and Flo and Janie (and maybe another one or two) help cover the weekends. Give one of our servers your virtual food and beverage orders, and be careful about being the first post on a page (the Top Of Page - aka TOP). The one with the TOP honors gets the bill for the orders on that page. So if you didn’t bring your virtual cash or plastic card, the twins can let you wash dishes to pay it off, or delay it until the next morning when you come in (or payday). But don’t get far behind on a tab in here, or the twins’ cousin Vinnie will… ahem… well, let’s just say you don’t want to get on Vinnie’s bad side, if you catch my drift! [:O][;)]

So, tell us a bit about yourself, your layout (plans or how it’s progressing), scale modeled, are you ‘protolancing’ like myself and a few others, or following a specific RR (like say, lemme just take a wild guess, UP)?[swg]

Welcome to the Diner, and I’ll buy your beverage this afternoon. Zoe makes a great root beer float, if you like those, by the way.[:)]

Blessings,
