Elliots Trackside Diner IV, Under New Management!

Garry:

AWRIGHT, YOU GUYS!!![:I]

Tom

Aw, Tom, we’re just showin’ ya how much we love ya… [:I] Oh, and Zoe, since Tom has the TOP honors, I’ll have another root beer float, please. Thanks, Tom![;)]

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good Afternoon All,

Ah yes, a nice root beer float in a “to go” cup would do me a treat just now. Hi all just a quick run through between trips and general madness. Still waiting on paperwork from the insurance company as well as the definitive word from the building inspector on code improvements needed (the big unknown and not covered except for the damage replacements by insurance. Here is where you need a good adjustor and contractor who can work together and come up with something fair). The house however is pretty much gutted inside so there is no going back at this point. Everything else is just busy or on hold. Catch y’all later. J.R.

Lionel’s version of comand controll I believe its acually called train master comand controll (by the way it has been replaced with legacy but they don’t offer that yet as an after market item but you can run tmcc engines witht he legacy controll set up)

Oh okay. That makes good sense. We’ve done the cancer thing once before, but the problem is that they said it should have been gone.

Tom: You could call it a cousin to those DRGWs you havem tender almost looks to be same size. (AKA “dinky”)

UP Dude: Yeah, we needs you a name. Keep checking in, this place gets bett weirde it improves rthe more you check in. Hmm. Can’t call yeah Cascade, I’d get confused with my school.

By the way, I’ve been raised to keep names and stuff private, but several have asked, so I’ll introduce yo to Dad. Dad’s name is Kyle. (It’s odd reffering to Dad by name)

It’s not that I don’t trust you, just 8 years of upraising

Howdy…

UP Cascade Div … [#welcome] Please stop by and get to know everybody. It’s a place for friends to share their “whatevers” …

Ryan … Glad Ben had a good day.

RT … I like that Southern loco. My grandson has a Lionel Southern green GP20 (I think that’s It) . I bought it for him for Christmas.

Rob … It’ll be a relief not having that tooth. You don’t want to lose too many however. Makes it hard to eat ribs, steaks, etc.

Terry … We’re certainly praying you’ll be all over that disease…

Flash … Thanks for introducing “Dad”… Hi Kyle… prayers continue for full recovery.

Jerry … Power was out quite a while there. Good it came back so Sallie can watch soaps.

Fergie … 2-10-4 is the Texas Type. CB&Q had some biggies of that type. I recall CB&Q had those and some 2-10-2’s back whe nI was a kid in Illinois. Each piston stroke shook the ground a bit like a minor earthquake. I must confess I looked for one on ebay after you posted yours. None there. Good. Need to stick to the budget.

Tom … Well, Tom why do you suppose I though of your when I saw the cartoon? … I mean…uh…like… hmmm… well, who else would have paid over $200.00 just to reach his buttes? …[:-^][swg][(-D]… oh never mind…

Jim CG … Sounds like progress is being made at the club layout. Is the new location working out OK?

New Haven … good to hear from you.

JR … thanks for the update on your rebuilding. Looking forward to layout photos again some day from you. I enjoyed your industrial and downtown scenes.

Happy Model Railroading

Man, I didn’t get that till you posted this. thanks.

You’re welcome Packers … Are planning on more cinnamon rolls in the morning? [;)]

ugh…

Sorry for not checking in as usual. Gone for two days to Tallahassee. My dad’s friend, Justice Peggy Quince was made chief Justice of the Supreme Court. After that I got addicted to an RPG game called Travians, and another game called Boxhead.

To make it up to you, I’ll post some pictures of trains from Tallahassee. These are from March, when I went to be a page in the Legislature.

In the capitol building, there is the 22nd floor. The 22nd floor has a glass window all around, and you can see the whole city, including train tracks. CSX unit trains came by multiple times per day, so I would grab a snack on the 10th floor, go up, read and watch the noon freight. These trains were often more than 100 cars long, and I kept track of them in a notebook.

Please forgive poor photography; it was rainy outside, and these were taken through the 22nd floor window. You have to click to enlarge.

The tall, intimidating, Capitol Building.

A CSX and UP or BNSF train.

And a CSX train at a grade crossing.

Just a chocolate shake.

Just starting to begin work on the new layout. It is going to represent the south shore of the Columbia River Gorge.

Evening everyone, just thought I would check in for a change before hitting the sack.

I just got an email from Bob (or Duke if you prefer). He’s going to be in my neck of the woods later this month and we’re going to get together for a day. Either at East Broad Top or Steamtown.

Also, I am now officially engaged to be married. Popped the question about a week and a half ago and just picked up her ring yesterday. No date set yet but I’m hoping for some time in the spring.

No progress on the layout unfortunately, too many things going on right now. My sister is moving to a small farm near here on Sunday and since I have a truck guess who gets to help. Oh, joy.

I do have a good joke for you. Hope no one is offended:

What a way to start the day!

There I was on my way to Wal-Mart… getting into a fight was the
farthest thing from my mind … wasn’t even on the horizon … I was in
a great mood… and then … I rear-ended a car.

So there we are alongside the road and slowly the driver gets out of the
car … and you know how you just-get-sooo-stressed and life-stuff seems
to get funny?

Yeah, well, I could NOT believe it … he was a DWARF!

He storms over to my car, looks up at me and says, “I AM NOT HAPPY!”

So, I look down at him and said, “Well, which one are you then?”
… and that’s when the fight started.

I see we’re up to 152 pages, we’ll probably be asked to move this diner to another siding soon.

Guess that’s it for tonight, see you later.

Attaboy! Congrats! And sorry, I did have to go there.

Good Evening Diners!

I haven’t been in for a while but have looked in from time to time to keep up with all the “happenings” at Elliot’s.

Last weekend we went down to visit our friends who live near Theif River Falls, MN. Always great to visit with good friends and picking up an order from Klein’s is good too! I now have the Sound Bug to add to the new decoder I’m putting into my PK2 0-6-0. The tender is apart on my work bench but with summer I don’t seem to get much time downstairs. In fact it is often too cold down there as the air conditioner keeps our basement like a refrigerator. I also picked up another box car kit as you can never have too many. I now have 6 kits awaiting assembly. I told my wife that I’m just stocking up for next winter and have to buy when the car you want is available as next week it might not.

I started some holidays this week and hope to get a little boat time in besides getting it ready for sale. I figure I’ll be lucky to sell it in 2 years as there isn’t a very big market here for them.

Rob, Glad to hear you now have your tooth problem behind you. It seems that this is a dental month what with Dick’s root canal and now we find out that one of our dogs needs to get it’s teeth cleaned asap. Our vet told us that an infection can cause a heart attack so I imagine its the same for people as your dentist said. It seems that we have to get our dogs’ teeth cleaned once a year and it is expensive, at about $500 a pop.

Fergie, I REALLY like that CV loco! You certainly can see the resemblance to the parent company’s engines and I’m rather partial to CN steam. Do you convert your brass engines to DCC?

I’m off to the boat tomorrow and then there are the outdoor jobs in the old " job jar" so while it won’t be an exciting holiday, I plan on enjoying myself. Hope to get a ride

Attaboy said: "Also, I am now officially engaged to be married. " …WOW~! ATTABOY, ATTABOY!

Spectacular Tallahassee Pix, RRnut!

Rob Are you going to put the tooth under your pillow in hopes that the Tooth Fairy will bring the Loco you want??? [:D][(-D][:-^]

Attaboy Kind of thought it would be coming from some of your last posts. [:)][tup][tup]

Duke

***Duke, what a great idea.[(-D] Timing is off ([2c] wise), otherwise it might have worked. Actually, I didn’t save the tooth this time. Decided I had really had enough of it.

Welcome aboard to the new diner.

Good night all. [C):-)] Rob

Doctors visit went well this morning. The wounds on both feet have closed up by 2 millimeters in the past week and a half. When you have diabetes as bad as mine healing comes slowly. Also paid the bills for the electricity, car insurance, cable/internet and the new fridge. Went grocery shopping afterwards to get some essentials. I’ll be going back to get more groceries Thursday as my food stamp allowance will be in. Came home and put groceries away and found that the cable was out so I went to Alexandria to visit the not so LHS and Hobby Lobby. Here’s something I picked up in Alexandria today.

It has shelf couplers as per the prototype.

Watching America’s Funniest home videos now.

Just stopped in for a dish of Ice cream and some strawberrys please…Thank You…Jerry

Good Morning from Tipton IN ! [:D]
