Finally made it to the museum last evening - first trip in about a month. We’re still working on the O gage layout and doing upkeep on the N but I don’t have any way to do buildings just now as the rental hasn’t a good place to work in just yet and I’m not in a position to alter it to suit. Lime Rock Park this Saturday and then a week wth no races, then off to Elkhart Lake, Wisc for a week. No Pittsburgh for me this year - too much going on with the other events for me to take time to race myself. Lots to do today so I’d better get on with it. Prayers for those in need. CUL, J.R.

I stayed up late last night (past midnight) performing maintenance on the computer and adding more RAM to it. I also replaced a light in one of my structures.

Nothing to drink or eat. Just dropping in to say, “Howdy Folks”. One good thing about losing a tooth is you also burn body fat while resting afterwards. I do miss coffee though.

Mornin, a coffee, 2 chocolate milks and the buffet please Zoe. Thought I was going to be kidless today, but Heather go called to work. Oh well, it’s just the 2 girls, Herman went with dad to work.

Been busy the last few days with chores, kids and getting stuff gathered up for our trip. Checked the weather for southern IL and it’s the same as our, a chance for rain 2 days.

Partly cloudy skies will be around today with gusty southwest winds. Temperatures look to be the warmest of the week topping out in the upper 80’s near 90° this afternoon. A cold front is approaching from the northwest and this front will bring areas of scattered rain and thunderstorms to the Wabash Valley tonight, through the day tomorrow, and a chance on Friday. Temperatures will be about ten degrees cooler on Thursday topping out in the upper 70’s.

I’m beginning to think we’re not suppose ta go. We had to put 2 new tires on the bus [one decided to throw a belt]. What should have been an easy 1 ½ hour trip ended up taking 3 ½, So we missed Leroy’s last ball game this year. All that on top of having 5 kids that wanted to fight n bicker all day. Also the AC quit in the bus on the way home.

Hope the weather let’em get those fires under control, so you can get out some. I don’t understand why folks would want to take the risk with fireworks that way [I won’t], but they do. I’ve seen it fires happen here from them in dry weather.

Good morning…Its sunny and warmer here today…weather guesser on TV says temps in low 80’s for the 4th should make for a good day for the shrine celebration in Casey…I’ll have Bill’s Breakfast Buffett please…Thank You looks like RT is buying…Spent most of day resting yesterday so nothing much done on railroad but I did run trains for awhile…I think I may have found a Con Cor F3 for a shell painted for Monon that I have had for 5 or 6 years with no drive…

Morning all, from SmokyCal.

Well, not so smoky here in the Valley anymore, thank God–but that Big Sur fire is still giving everyone down there fits–it was two fires, now it’s joined into one BIG one (60,000 acres or so) and anyone who has ever been down to Big Sur knows how rough and impenetrable that country is. They re-opened Highway 1 from what I understand, but it’s still a tough go down there. The local newspaper here–Sacto BEE–was carping today about the fact that most of the campgrounds will be closed over the Fourth–well, of COURSE they will–they’re practically all burned UP! I mean–DUH–!

Most of the other fires here in the north state are either under control or contained, but then we’ve got the Fourth coming up–and the fireworks–I may have to go into Hibernation again. Hope not.

Got Mom back home yesterday, so hopefully today I’ll be able to go out and work some more on the Creeper (that MR joke just FRACTURED me, BTW).

Jeff: That KCS hopper is sure handsome! I really like those KCS colors–very distinctive. Is it going through the weathering shop or are you going to leave it ‘brand new’? Also glad to hear that your feet are healing, even if its a slow go.

Rob: Got rid of the tooth, huh? Sometimes it’s cheaper in the long run just to have the darned things yanked, then put up with all of the misery of a root canal. Hope you recuperate VERY soon, buddy.

The builder called today, but I still can’t really talk with gauze in my mouth, so will let the wife return his call later. We’ve about decided to do as much as we can ourselves. Of course I have my own motive for doing so: with the money I can save, perhaps a bit more can go towards the train room.[;)]

Wife spent all day taking her dad to see some specialist, Tomorrow she takes her mother to see another Doc. Wish she didn’t have to get stuck doing all this. Such is life.

Oh, speaking of July Fourth activities - the fair city of Cape Girardeau usually has a Riverfest (which has become a July 4th thing the last couple of years) - with food booths, some downtown streets blocked off, and shooting off fireworks from a barge on the Illinois side of the river across

Oh, almost forgot - we found out at our MRR club meeting Monday night, that the church that wanted us to move so they could expand into our area at the back of that building? - word is, they are moving to a new location. [oops] That was a surprise, all right.

In other news, the Hassenpheffer is here, and my sister won’t let him out of sight. But she goes off to camp soon, and he will be left to me and my other sister…[:-,] .

I read an interesting book lately called Chasing the Falconers; part of a series about a bro and sis who’s parents have been wrongly accused of treason after terrorists stole their research. After their parents get life snetences, they are sent to a prison farm in Nebraska, since no one will take them because of the scandal. One night during an accidental fire, they break out and go on a cross country adventure to prove their parents innocence. Very interesting, fast-paced and exciting. Better yet, there’s a train scene (they hop one from Nebraska to Chicago).

My dad is flying up to Memphis to buy a car, and will miss the 4th of July while DRIVING IT BACK!!! Today my mom and I are buying some awesome fireworks. For the second most important part of the 4th, I recommend: Junior Cuckoos, Piccolo Petes, Screamers, Artillery Shells, American Freedoms, Roman Candles, Tanks, Jets, Helicopters, Bottle Rockets, and Fire Crackers. We got the hay hauled and in the hay lot. Now I need to go out and pick up the hay that fell off the bales. That new bailer is not doing a good job. It goes into the dealer for a servicing and had better work better.

No MRR stuff. I maybe able to get some reading done now that the hay is taken care of. Oh now we have to move out to Clark Gardens and bail that and then to Johns place and do his. It’s going to be a long summer.

I don’t know about theirs but mine is American Indian, French, German, British, Scot, Irish and a wee bit of Norse. There’s a lot of bad tempers there and no matter how much you stir the pot anything you pull out is gonna put a whipping on you. It took me many years of practice and restraint to get my temper under control. Those folks were lucky!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. For those that asked, no date has been set yet. I always thought a spring wedding would be nice. This will be the second time for both of us so it will probably just be a small immediate family type thing. I am thinking about asking her 16 year old son to be the best man, just to help let him know he will be part of the new family too.

Speaking of ma “old man” Doc doesn’t think he’s making enough progress with the infection, so the we’re pushing back another week. Oh joy [8)].

ANd in other news, I’ve managed to screw up my BL2 Demo. Apperently there was something wrong with the gloss coat, cause it brought out some silver speckles not otherwise noticeable (I know it;s supposed to do that) but when I went to remask the loco, the painter’s tape pulled part of the decal off. And this is why I prefer RTR. It’s a FRED of a lot harder for me to screw up…
