Yep, I have one of those sitting in a drawer in the kitchen… (We used the one for Cows many times on the farm… Ours just had a manual plunger on it, but they worked well for cattle.) Any of you want to try giving sweet little Manét, the 20 lbs. of TNT a pill with it, be my guest… Yep the pill pockets are the best invention to come around for medicating pets in years! Manét just came out to the kitchen a few minutes ago looking for more food. At least his appetite is back. He seems to be feeling much better. Anyway, I opened the bag of the pill pockets and held one in my hand for him. He looked at me as if to say, “You want me to fall for this?” He finally sniffed it a few times, then licked it once. Gobbled it right out of my hand, he did! This just might work… He also got a plate of his canned food finely chopped up. He ate it and licked the plate clean and then looked for more. He can’t have more than a little bit of food at a time until tomorrow.
My sister the Reverend called this evening to chat. We got caught up on all the family goings on.
Maybe sometime tomorrow I might get down to the trains and get a few things done… around all the other items on the calendar…
Yeah. The Pill Pocket thing work way better for the one’s we have here…
Good Evening!
Well, we had another good day of mainly dull skies…but we did get to see the odd yellow incident…
Today was a pretty quiet day…I actually got some traintime in!! Yay!! Ran a bunch of trains around while cleaning track and doing some switching to get back into some shape or form…
Ulrich, I guess it’s the same the world over, " Those who are politicians shouldn’t be, those who should be politicians don’t want to be." Andrea Merkel watch out ???
Sometimes, in MRRIng, we may “push the envelope”, SO:
Meaning:
To attempt to extend the current limits of performance. To innovate, or go beyond commonly accepted boundaries.
Origin:
This phrase came into general use following the publication Tom Wolfe’s book about the space programme - The Right Stuff, 1979:
“One of the phrases that kept running through the conversation was ‘pushing the outside of the envelope’… [That] seemed to be the great challenge and satisfaction of flight test.”
Wolfe didn’t originate the term, although it’s appropriate that he used it in a technical and engineering context, as it was first used in the field of mathematics.
“JaBear” - in a perfect world, politicians would be specialists in their field. Can you imagine how much money that would save?
Angela Merkel has successfully gotten rid of all her “enemies” (read political friends) around her, now she can reign without having to fear any competition.
I´d see my role as a politician more that of a jester, holding the mirror… [:-^] He was usually the only one allowed to talk freely.
Wow, I am impressed! How do you know me that well? AFAIK, we have never met!
While still in business, I was always the guy in the background, pulling the strings. I left the glory to others, but hardly ever was in the line of fire as well.
30F and still dark here at 6am. There is still some snow lingering on the ground in the shaded areas from Tuesdays’ snow. Yup, I’m ready to go back to Oz Toto. It all seems a fantastic dream now - what a cool place evenif it was blazing hot.
The pill pockets sound a good idea. Hadn’t heard of them before. Rupert the mutt loves cheese so we usually give him meds wrapped in cheese. Ratty the toy fox terrier doesn’t like cheese and she is more problematic especially as she is still under 10lbs soaking wet.
Galaxy - mad as a hatter has a lot of meaning here as Danbury was the center of the US hatting industry until the 70’s when the last of the plants shut down. There is mercury everywhere from the process used to process the rabbit pelts used to make the hats and there lies the problem. You can actually injest mercury with no real effects, but in vapor form it is deadly. Mercury traveled in the ground throughout the city from the many factories downtown and through the Still River and its’ tributaries so much of the land is untransferrable without special permits or hugely expensive remediation.
Ulrich - good luck running for office. You will soon find out that simply being there let alone speaking your mind will put you in the line of fire. I don’t regret the 10 years I spent on the Board of Education here but ultimately I was put out of office by my own party for voting my conscience and not the party line. It can be a thankless job if you do it right but I had some fun as well exposing the silliness that sometimes happened.
Back in the shop and getting loose ends tied up before leaving next month for New Zealand. My birthing day is tomorrow but more importantly I’m going to a memorial service for my friend John Fitch. John was a well known racing driver, a WWII fighter pilot, and an inventor. I workked with him when I was at a company called Mecca Development
As far as today is concerned…kinda dull with little specks of snow expected…[sigh]
I have the little Spring between my arms right now so I am typing chicken wing stylee…today is going to be get groceries and do some more stuff for a couple more doctor appointments next week…sigh…[^o)]
Great…now I have Court of the Crimson King going through mine head…better than that Friday song[swg]
Movin a bit slow today. No issues, just movin slow.
RAY!!! STOP!!! Don’t use the cow pill shooter on the cat!!! It’ll shoot right through her! [^o)] him. (it’s a cat. You never really know) Besides taking a strip of hair off the underside of his tail, it could put someone’s eye out if he’s pointed in the right direction. Oh sure it may be good for a chuckle to see the look on the cats face, but I don’t think it’s a wise thing to do.
Stopped in yesterday morn but when I went to the next page, the site crashed so I looked around internet to see if it was on my end or not and everything was fine so I checked back, still down and went on to other things for the day. Don’t know for how long, probably came right back up after I left.
Ya know, before my Mother and Brenda’s Mother, mainly mine cause she was first, I would talk about putting parents in a nursing home as very last resort. Talking about responsibilities, loyalty, how they sacrificed for us when we were young and how it’s basically our turn now. But after experiencing it, and it wasn’t that bad for me, I have a different view. A waaaay different view. Taking care of someone who is failing, is too much for most and in fact in many instances, worse for the parent. We can’t give the kind of care they need no matter how hard we try or how good the intentions are. We just can’t. There also is the psychological effect on eth “patient”. At some point they will feel as if they are a burden and despite all the convincing otherwise, they will realize the truth and then…., well then they decide kinda, to stop the burden and just sorta let go. No one really deep down wants to be a burden. There are also things that need to be done that is best to leave to a disinterested, so to speak, third party. Parents can’t put that sympathy “you don’t know ho
Oh Jeff, forgot to say. Have your Father check with and Attorney who deals with Medicare and Medicade. I know there are ways to protect your Father and provide for him while still making the program available for your Mother to pay for the Nursing home. The old “everything has to be spent up and all assets have to be gone for Medicare/ Medicade to pay” isn’t exactly true. A friend just went through it with his Father and his Mother is still alive and well. I don’t know the details, but even if I did, it would be best for him to hear it from someone who knows all the details as it pertains to him.
He’s aware of it. Medicare is paying the bill for the nursing home.
Good morning. It’s 51° with 99% humidity and patchy fog. It’ll be mostly cloudy with a high of 72°.
No plans for today other than doing a little cleanup work on the layout. Maybe now I can get further than the preparation stage before my day gets hijacked. That’ll be great. I have some cleanup work on the extension (Sundown) and the front of the east side (Knutzville). There’s places for the stuff to go, it’s just getting it there.
