Bobbyding asked in a post if anyone ever made a NYC GG1 and it got me thinking about other paint schemes that would look cool and/or stupid on various locos. How about a Santa Fe GG1 with a double warbonnet paint job? I know it’s considered sacrilige by many but I think a double lightnind stripe NYC GG1 would look cool. Certain knds of diesels in the Hiawatha paint scheme might work.
lionroar88 a while back had designed a B&O and C&O paint scheme for GG1s, that actually looked pretty good.
One of the HO companies has done GG1s in NYC lightning stripe and in other roads (including NH McGinnis, as I recall). Very nice. I have also seen a photo of a GG1 custom-painted in NP two-tone green. Of course, these roads didn’t have GG1s–but they should have.
I suggested to Mike Wolf one time that he do GG1s in some of these other colors, but he was not at all interested.

I’ve seen the NP GG1 Richard spoke of. It’s a beauty. A NH in McGinnis version and a NYC lightning stripe would look good too. But how about a Boston and Maine done in the maroon and gold Minuteman sceme? Think about it…

How about a Dreyfuss Hudson in PRR tuscan with striping like on the S1?
I have seen the NYC version of the GG 1 in HO, it was done by IHC. Another forum member on a related thread also posted a pic of the NH version in HO, and said that it was done by TYCO.
