Good Almost afternoon Y’all! Hope everyone is having a good week. Was thinking about the postings here…I have a lot of other things going on that keep my reading time here short. I average about 600+ emails per day…weed through most and delete a lot, but still between that and this, it does keep me busy.
The other day while we were at WalMart, we came across three DVD jackets that had been sliced open and the DVDs were stolen from them. One of the movies was Fireproof. Thought about that. Here someone steals a movie and it is a Christian movie with a good message…they take it home and who knows, perhaps God will have a little word with them. I mentioned it to our pastor and the guy who was the main director for Fireproof and they both told me that the movie has been pirated in China. So long as the message gets out, not a problem.
Did some work on the layout last night. The entire yard is wired! Now I just have a few blocks on the reversing loop in the center to take care of and then it will be onto scenery. It will be nice to get some much needed progress done. I can run trains now, but I also have all the tools, etc laying on the layout.

Dennis - I did get the plug in for the movie this weekend at three services. After Mass several folks said the homily made the think about their marriage in a different way. Seeds are sown. I will continue to water them.
Talked with youngest daughter, bummed about not going to work this morning and I shared youralls concern and she appreciated it, saying does anyone need an HR specialist with experience, or something around Cincinnati?

Great game yesterday - one of the best Super Bowls I can remember. Even if I am a Steelers fan. Too bad football is over for another season - ah, well, I’m sure there will be some interesting sports to catch our attention, like curling and poker championships.
The Christmas layout has officially gone away for the season - although Corey is already asking me when I’m gonna set it up. Got a temporary dogbone setup, but need to get something a little more elaborate going to satisfy the two little guys. That’s what I really like about Fastrack, being able to throw together adhoc layouts quickly and easily.
Howdy, I arrived just after the lockup, so just waited. 33 and sunny this morning and trust me it helps even though the ground is still covered with snow. A friend gave me a genuine NS company calender yesterday and I thought of the chief, chills ran down my spine but I got over it. It’s a 2008 but has a couple of redone F units, looks a lot better than all black. I can’t remember all I read this morning so this will have to do for now. Happy monday…S.J.

[:-^] He even got all the spelling in the title correct. Guess the deer can wait for their daily feeding. Rumor has it the deer get ornery after eating his grits. [:D]
**GregM…**glad to hear all went well at the interview. Don’t wait to see what becomes of it. I hope you don’t mind, but I suggest you drop the interviewer an email today, thanking her/him for the interview, expressing your interest in the job, with a blurb on how particularly well suited your background is for the position…a perfect fit, and, if it didn’t come up in the interview, asking about the timing for the next steps in the selection process. Interviewers prefer candidates that express enthusiasm, interest in their company, and the jobs they need to fill. I can’t tell you how many times my wife comes home (inside company recruiter) somewhat disappointed that her pick on the short list of candidates doesn’t seem particularly enthused about her company or the position. Leave no stone left unturned. Prayers, brother.

We are looking at houses again. Someone has to help the banks out…I got to get closer to work, closer to the things we visit, closer to better schools, closer to higher taxes…oh yea, not everything is good when you move.
Wife wants to stay in a neighborhood, and I want a usable basement (I have over 700ft finished in a 1600ft3 basement now, makes a difference), and a 3 car garage that I can convert 1 bay into a woodshop. Found a house that we really like that has a built on 3rd bay, but it’s only 8’ wide. It was a purpose built shop that is right up against the allowed build line. It has a normal 7’ door on it, but it runs the whole length of the house. It’s 8’x39’! There is a man door on the back that opens into a private back yard. Neighborhood restrictions do not allow buildings, so yard tools would have to go in this space. Small yard, so just a pushmower, rakes, shovels, etc. All of my tools are now foldup/modular to fit in my current garage shop, so this might work. 8’ is as skinny as I would want to go, or course. Anyone every work in such a narrow shop?

Jack…Of course the Napa Valley Wine Train was my favorite ride since I rode the cab. [8D] I sure wish I had more photos from riding the Algoma Central in 1997, where we rode in the baggage car and hung out the doors to see the moose and bear.

Afternoon all. Was happily posting this morning when I hit Post, it said Locked. I thought now I’ve done it. Then waited until I saw the Chief started it up again. Funny what a difference of a few degrees makes today - 19 v. 15. Seems warmer. Enjoyed letting young visitors run the trains last night. Well ol’ Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today and that means 6 more weeks of nawthern misery! That is also good for Texas as every day winter is extended is 1 less day of 100+!
Wes - 8’ x 39’ - I could do quite a bit as when I use my garage as a working area in the winter, one car is still in the garage - besides you can build some really long narrow stuff! Like a train layout! Reminds me of the Texas Aggie that went to the lumber store to get some 2x4’s. The clerk in the lumber department asked the Aggie how long did he want them? The Aggie looked a little perplexed and finally answered that he wanted them for a long time as he was planning to build a shed out of them.

Working on a project for mounting a Miller Eng sign on a frame that can be used at the museum. Turning into a real pain, want to keep it kinda like a module that can be moved around since the buildings aren’t mine so I can’t modify them.
With 85* and blue skies it is difficult to keep working on some things instead of being out on the patio with my coffee. [X-)] Talked with my sister in No Ky yesterday, didn’t loose power but was stuck in the house monday thru thursday with all the snow & ice.

Do you remember Mitch Ryder and the The Detroit Wheels? Hot band! Probably one of the best hot bands of the late '60’s was Chase and I would doubt that most of this forum have never heard of them. First time I heard them was in old town in Chicago at a place called Mothers–when we left the doorman said he would call us a cab, not to walk down to the corner, OK–we’ll heed your advice. Also saw Dave Brubeck on that tour. Followed by Dizzy Gillespie a month later right here in Des Moines. I could go on but I’m sure most folks are nodding off by now. Did I mention the concerts about Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Woodie Herman, Miles Davis and Wynton Marsalis that all appeared here?
Sadly I also saw Bob Dylan… I’m sure he doesn’t remember either, fried brain on the stage. Also saw Cheryl Crow and Willie Nelson one week apart 3 years ago on the same stage here. Glad I didn’t have to pay for either of those concerts. That’s enough for now.

I remembered bergi saying that he wanted us to restart each month but didn’t say anything yesterday as didn’t want to take the chance of maybe it would go on without being ended but I see we had to go wake the chief up so he could start a new one. I know he didn’t mind but you know he needs all the rest he can get beauty rest that is.
