February Coffee Pot 2016. 11 years old. Wonderful grits and sweet ice tea for the southern gents. Coffee and oatmeal for the Yanks.

Evening all from clear cool (high 30’s) Southern Ohio,

Been real busy around her the past few days. I was moved to dayshift for the remainer of last week and spent most of Friday going around saying goodby to the mechanics, operators, and supervisors that worked for me for the last 10 years. What a great team we had. They are the hard part of leaving work. I’ll miss them. I process out Monday, the retirement, or interviews or whatever. I am truly at peace with this. Besides some time at home will feel different.

Gabriel my 13 year old grandson who lives with us got up at 4 am and I went to Columbus for the annual Catholic Men’s Conference. Wow the speakers were fantastic. Gabriel really enjoyed himself and wants to go again next year.

KRM/Dennis I’ve heard of the plastic welding before but did not know you could do bumpers and the like. I’ll keep that in mind. I guess it would be like where you build up a weld then grind it flush.

I’m beat time to vegatate

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Took the mower to have blades sharpened. Picked up sticks in yard. Watched West Bromwich Albion hang on for a 3-2 win against a fading Crystal Palace. CP was once 3rd in the standings and now are 14th. I hope everyone will have a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

It was a very nice day today. 60’s and sunny. Worked in the garage with the door open.

Had a great dinner with neighbors at a new place (for us) tonight. Food and atmosphere were really nice. We’ll go back.

SJ - one of my train buddies has that boxcar. You are going to enjoy it.

Another nice day on tap for tomorrow.

Roy…I’m missing York, but the grandson’s will be in the house so trains will be running.

SPMAN…Over the years you have been on the forum, I have read your posts with snipets of your time working on the railroad. Very interesting. I thought you had started with the railroad at a young age. I believe you could write a column monthly for TRAINS of your experiences.

This next weeks will find me on the road in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, West Lafayette, Fort Wayne, and Dundee, Michigan. Meetings, meetings and more meetings. [au]

Good morning guys, 49 already and heading to 60 with abundant sunshine. A great day to be on The North Bluff. [8D]

Buckeye, I got sick of the travel after doing it so much. How do you handle it?

SPJim, yes looks like you could build it up and then grind it down. That is what the guy from the body shop told me they do on the bumper covers.

MikeC. I must of been thinking like you yesterday, I got out the small rider and ran it for about 1/2 hour to charge up the battery. I will pull the deck this month and do the pre-season work on it.

Kevin… I handle the travel by visiting every train store and train museum [:D] in the nation. [:-^]

Oh, and I forgot one place I will be traveling to this year… DALLAS, TEXAS!

Better plan Than I had Buckeye. [Y]

Well I did my first grapple job with the new grapple. The 2YO grand-son and I went up to the north end of the lane and grabbed a 25’ tree stump that had fell last year that I had just pushed out of the way. It worked great. Picked it right up and we hauled it to Brain’s burn pile. Only problem was it was wider than the driveway clearance so I had to do some maneuvering to get it out into the clear to head up the lane to Brian’s. All in all I am happy.

I see Kev posted 5 hours ago. Probably because no one could get the forum to come up. Took 15 minutes for me. Unbelievable. Running billign again I guess.

Hope all OK. Probably got pneumonia again. Get winded walking a short distance. Heart Dr. told me Thrusday my lungs sounded crackly. That was a good indication. Why not. Highs in the mid 30’s for a few days and then mid 60’s for a few days. Its 51 right now.

Got New Pot reminder loaded in my calendar for tomorrow night.

Have a great week ahead and a happy leap day.

Good evening all,

Did 9 miles in 2:31:46 today with both of the daughters tagging along. Ran trains for grandkids. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Just a quick fly by.

Just wanted to let everyone know that BlownOutCylinder has been in the hospital for awhile and had successful heart surgery on Friday morning.

Nite all.

Hello all

'Nother quiet night on the mountain.

Chief you take care of yourself.

Good to hear Barry is doing better.

Kev - congrats on your successful project.

Someone on the MR forum turned me on to a Micro-Trains coupler kit for the bay window caboose I have, so the body shell is soon to become a caboose red rather than Rock Island white.

And I finally painted the hull bottom on the Mauretania model I have been working on. Now to come up w/ the correct funnel color and then I can finish assembling it.

Good morning. 32 heading to 60 depending on who you listen to. Got to get some lights for the range hood that work today.

You guys should be able to do whatever you want today because this day don’t exist most years so it should be a freebie day. Happy leap day.

BOC and Frank da Chief, [angel] prayers guys. Get well soon.

So technically speaking had I been born on the 29th instead of earlier this month, today I would only be 17.25 y.o. instead of 69. [swg] No thanks !

I guess we have no choice so we are stuck with an extra day of winter. 64 degrees yesterday broke a 100 year record but normal returns tomorrow. Another club meet come saturday as the host had to juggle his schedule.

S.J.

Had not thought of that DougDG. So with that in mind you would have to live 1,190.25 years to get to 69 then. [:O]

Still unseasonably warm Mon. 80/50

My Integra bumper cover is too smashed for any repair but I have repaired cracked ones in the past by using Bondo as glue glueing a strip of similar plastic on the back side of the crack.

7 hours since my post above, I guess you guys have to work.

Unseasonable warm, I’m in shorts and T shirt for 2 weeks now. Tue.90/52

Every 5 years in CA you have to renew your drivers license and if you’re over 70 you have to go to the DMV and take the written exam, actually touch screen, eye exam and picture.

My renewal notice included a voter registration application, all you had to do is state that you’re a citizen and 18.

I had a appointment otherwise long long lines, all DMV offices in southern CA are always very crowded with hordes of illegals. In very diverse LA it seemed I was the only normal one there including the employees.

Thoughts and prayers for the PWC PD.

Evening all from mild (40F) Southern Ohio,

Today was my last day at work. I processed out signed all the papers and turned in all my badges keys pager and phone. I’m going to miss a lot of folks from there. They are going to set up a job fair in one of the contractor trailers Tuesday so I’ll go out and pass out some resumes. My exit package was generous so we’ll do OK. I will be helping more with getting kids to and from activities now.

I sold the Avalon this evening. I got my asking price of $3000. It is a fair price for both of us. I’m going to misss that car. Had it for 13 years and 207,000 miles and it never skipped a beat. Still looks and drives great.

Bob- Be careful on using ether starting fluid on a diesel. It can blow a hole in a piston. I’ve heard if needed to use WD-40. Restoring a bus would be quite a challenge if for no other reason than the sheer size of the project and the space needed for it.

Buckeye- You’re going to see quite a bit of the country. Company car?

Chief-There is a bug going around that really hangs on. Don’t get down with it.

KRM-Glad the grappler is working out. It looks awsome.

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Busy day at home. Replaced a light fixture. Fixed a swing. Got the oil changed on the truck. Took some scrap metal to the recycling place. Watched Jane the Virgin. Ordered license tags for vehicles and IRS forms. Ordered a 2016 Lionel Price guide. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
