Ginger Village (Merry Christmas)

I am Executive Chef for a major hotel but this year it was my first Ginger Village. It took us 200 hours to complete the 6 x 10 project. I add 50 # of Royal Icing, 80# of Assorted Candies, and made 200 trees. Please, enjoy the photos and Happy Holiday’s [C=:-)]

Yes, that really is awesome…!!! Beautiful. Awesome photos too.

How do you bring yourself to destroy and devour such a masterpiece? I have trouble cutting into a cake with lettering on it!

Very cool! What’s the occasion?

ONCE!! I made a gingerbread ski resort with my wife for a friend who owned said resort—we could not bear to see it eaten up----

That is one wondeful looking piece of work there!!![bow][bow]

My wife would make you buy a really big freezer and make you keep it…

Outstanding work.

Lovely work - looks good enough to eat! [:D]

Just curious, what scale is the train?

Celebrating the Holidays in Texas

The scale is HO[C=:-)]

It hard to take it down on December 31st. I started to do it in October and the opening day was Dec. 1st. I be having alot of people putting their finger on the Royal Icing and tasting. When I come the next day I see alot of finger holes. Tomorow, I be filling the holes and putting more candies. I did made a few changes to the Royal Icing recipe. I added Lemon Juice and Black Pepper. [X-)]

Wait a minute–that’s Texas! They’re going to love that pepper stuff!

Some art is ephemeral, like snow sculptures, sand sculptures, and the colors of autumn leaves. But there is always a next time, and the artist gets to start anew! (Unlike quilts, which last forever…)

(The opinions expressed above are those of my wife.)

Royal icing with Lemon AND pepper? In Texas?! [:-,]

Sheeesh–that’s just an added invitation!! LOL!![(-D]

Had you used a little Tabasco, and some japalino peppers for effect,[C):-)] You’d have truly created a Texas 5 course meal! Anyway, the SP Daylight was a really nice touch! Hope no one trys to take a bite out of it![}:)]

Beautifuf job, Awsome! You can mail some of the left overs to Kansas.[swg]

Are those F units edible?

No, I wish!!![{(-_-)}]

The Ginger buildings were the hotel on the left side then, you have Tower University of Texas and the Capitol building of Austin, TX.

All you’d need then would be edible tracks…run them straight into your mouth. [dinner]

Priceless![bow]
