Gotthard Pass cab ride

My granddaughters and I took this ride together on my laptop and enjoyed it very much! We love all things trains! Thanks!

Love to do a Cab Ride like that down here one has no chance of a Cab Ride. Qld Rail won’t allow anything like that the spoil sports. Great rail ride, Great Country hope to go there Christmas 2015 for a White Christmas.
Great stuff here.

GREAT, enjoyed the cab ride and observing the operations of the RR

I am part of the European Train Enthusiasts ( keystone chapter ) and we model the catenary, the electrical structors and have several Swiss loks. That video was great.I would really love to live there.Hope to see more videos.

Yes, awesome. But could you or someone explain the signals? I see diagonal lights and vertical. And I wonder if when the train enters a switch: is it dispatched? From where?

Cool video. Great scenery. Is that the Cog Railroad to the right of the photo? If so WOW!

GREAT VIDEO. What is on the other side of the mountian? Too bad american trains don’t have track structure like this. Thanks

Could have watched this all day.

I have ridden this line, but not like that, Wonderful trip from the cab,

Sherwood Hall from Florida

Gordon Dyer from Guelph On, Nice trip on Gotthard Pass,But I will take the CPR trip from Revelstoke over the Continental divide to Canmore Alberta hands down over that Cab Ride every time.

What a beautiful ride.

Been nice to have seen a spiral tunnel or Wassen, but an interesting video. Thanks.

Me too: could have watched all day.

beautiful scenic and smooth ride i am envious

I would love to see more videos like this one.

Inspired Video! It’s always a good idea to see what other countries and other systems are doing with their railways. The light rail transit movement in the U.S. and Canada came from the Rheine Valley cities of Manheim, Cologne, Stuttgart and Frankfurt. We don’t have a corner on good ideas.

In 1982 I made two round trips Zurich-Lugano. On second southbound transformer in Engine caught fire and had to wit on rescue engine. Also drove over Gottard Pass. Great experiences with fabulous scenery.

Stephen Cox, asked about the ‘Cog’ railway, it’s a ‘Rack’ railway in Swiss terminology Stephen, but well done you are quite observant! That line shown at the end of this video clip ascends dramatically to Andermatt via the ‘Devils Bridge’ its worth the short stopover in Gothard to make the return trip. Good to see Rogers comments too, I believe he was with us recently on the Australian Railway Enthusiasts tour of “Roof of Europe” by rail Sept 2014.

Very nice. Would like to take this trip myself.

Beautiful video, with many good reasons to model Swiss railroads. I also notices how clean the railways appeared.
