Harrison's replacement

Any reports from employees as to how CN's new boss is working out? Or is it too early to tell?

A little better but the CN is easily the worst Class 1 out there at the moment. No morale, terrible managers, severed customer relations… it is a bad time out there for the CN right now. Hunter’s minions and mindsets are still out there, and that is a dangerous thing.

Recovery from the destruction wrought by a controversial management team may take years, unfortunately. I’ve seen that in business and academia. The CN case sounds worse.

CN has had a very bad go in western Canada this year; what with flooding and washouts, forest fires and burning bridges, and mudslides. Trying to keep their head (and track) above water hasn’t left them much time to deal with organizational matters.

How the legacy of E. Hunter Harrison has affected the ability of CN to cope with all of these issues is something I can’t wait for the historians to figure out the answer to.
